HT202213 can two apple ids use the same itunes account?

I'm pretty new to apple products and have an itunes question. My husband and I just bought iPhones and have separate apple id's. We will also using an iPod. Is it possible to use itunes with both id's? Is there any way to share the files between both of us?

If you want to share a single AppleID with a single iTunes Library, then simply sync both devices to that iTunes library using the same user account.
If you want to sync two AppleIDs to one iTunes library, in iTunes on the computer, login and authorize each AppleID, then sync the devices to that common iTunes library in the same user account.
You do not do anything on the device being sync'd itself - it all has to do with how iTunes that you are syncing to is set up and what AppleIDs are authorized there.  You can sync multiple devices to iTunes, just be sure that each device gets a unique device name in the iTunes sidebar.
To then use unique AppleIDs for iCloud and iMessage on a iOS device, first, make an iCloud account with the AppleID you want to use (go to http://www.iCloud.com), then set up that iCloud account on the device with that ID and password.  In iMessage, just log out with whatever AppleID you are using now, log in with the new AppleID and it will reauthorize, now linking that device with the new iMessage account just created with that AppleID (your iMessage primary account ID is always the AppleID used to initially create and verify the iMessage account).

  • Can I sync my two ipod touches using the same iTunes account

I have two ipod touches and I am wondering if I can sync my legally bought digital movies from blu-ray discs that are on the cpu and registered, will it sync with two ipod touches with the same iTunes account.

The movies on the laptop are just digital copies. A lot of newer blu-ray movies come out with the blu-ray and a digital copy for the cpu as well. Thanks for responding.

  • Can two apple IDs share the same library?

Mac newbie here needs some advice...
I just got a new iMac and have created separate accounts for my husband and me on it.  We used to share an apple ID for music, but now I'd like for us to have our own apple IDs especially with the iCloud capabilities I don't want my iPhone stuff going to his Mac account, etc.  Problem is that all his music is in my library and he doesn't want to have to re-buy it again.  So I figured out that I can share my music library with his account on the iMac, and I have him signed in to iTunes with his separate Apple ID... good so far... but what's going to happen when he buys something?  Will it go into my library (as some sort of combined one), or into a separate one?
The other issue I encountered is that when I went to enable automatic synchronization across devices for him, I got a message saying that it was already logged in with another apple ID (I'm assuming it was referring to mine?).  That's not good.
I want us both to have totally separate IDs etc, especially for iCloud backups etc, but I wanted to be able to share music libraries.  Is that possible?  Am I doing something wrong?
    Thanks!

I have multiple Apple IDs. Is there a way for me to merge them into a single Apple ID?
Apple IDs cannot be merged. You should use your preferred Apple ID from now on, but you can still access your purchased items such as music, movies, or software using your other Apple IDs.

  • HT5622 Can 2 apple ids use the same iCloud

My wife and I both have our separate iPhones with different ids can we both share iCloud's off the same router

One Apple ID can be shared for store purchases. On the iPhone go to Settings>Store and put in the ID. Then all the songs purchased with that ID can be downloaded from the iTunes store on the phone.
I hope that is what you were asking?

  • Can I have a Face Time conversation between two Apple devices using the same Apple ID?

Can I have a Face Time conversation between two Apple devices using the same Apple ID?

Yes, you can, but the two devices can't have the same e mail address associated with both.  Each, device needs its own unique e mail ADR.  In your case, the iPod can call your iPhone if you use the phone number, but the iPhone can not call your iPod because it must use the e mail address, and if the email address is the same on both, the iPhone will think it's calling itself, so the call will not go through.

  • Can i have 2 Apple IDs using the same playlist from the same pc?

can i have 2 Apple IDs using the same playlist from the same pc?

Easiest way is to create separate computer logins with all your own info including your own iTunes library.
I recommend each individual not have more than one AppleID because you will have purchases on multiple accounts
You can use more than one AppleID in an iTunes library.
    AppleID/iTunes =used for purchases.
iTunes library = iTunes and all media on your computer.

  • HT4436 Can I have two apple IDs with the same iCloud?

Is it possible to sync data from multiple apple IDs to the same cloud account?

So, how do we as a family have more than one device ( 3 iphones, 1 ipad, 1 imac) and each person be able to sync their own contacts, etc..?  My son just backed his up and it confused my iphone - ie, my husband's name now is under 'Dad' and I have all his college friends...  I am so confused.....

  • Using the same iTunes account, can two iPads use different phone nubers for Factime?

Using the same iTunes account and two different iPads, is it possible to associate each iPad to a different phone number?

They must be iPhone numbers and only if you have two iPhones that are associated with the same Apple ID. If you don't have two iPhone numbers, you can use another email address one one of the iPads in order to use FaceTime and Messages on both devices that are both using the same Apple ID.
Assigning a new email address to one of the devices.

  • HT201272 Can two synchronised ipads use the same purchased apps

I have two i-pads with shared free apps, but when I purchased one from the i-tunes store recently it would not show up on both.  How do I share this language course with both i-pads?

If you are using the same iTunes account on both iPads then you should be able to re-download the app on the second iPad via the Purchased tab in the App Store app. If you always want any new app purchases to download on both then you should be able to turn on automatic downloads via Settings > Store (Settings > iTunes & App Stores if they are on iOS 6).

  • How do I get six family apple devices to be able to use the same iTunes account to make purchases?

Our family has an iPad, a MacBook Air, 2 iPhones, and 2 iPod touches. I tried to access music in iTunes on my MacBook Air and a message came up that said you can only have 5 devices use the same iTunes account. What can I do to allow us to all use the same account?

Get a second Apple ID. Perhaps you should have two different Apple IDs for each iPhone and iPod Touch.

  • Have been told if you use the same itunes account with two iphone you will receive each others text messages, is this true

Have been told if you use the same itunes account on two iphones, you will receive each others text messages, is this true?

you can use the same itunes id for purchases and so on, but have separate icloud id's for imessaging and all the icloud stuff. it's not preferable, but it isn't a problem either.

    Hello,
CanI set up two accounts for two different iPhones on the same iTunes account. Thanks JIMMY

You can use the same apple id for two separate phoones to share apps/music, however you would need a separate apple id for both phone for imessage/facetime/icloud.

  • TS2972 I would like to share my iTunes libraries with my Apple TV from both my iMac and Macbook Pro, but I use the same iTunes account on both devices. Is it possible to link my Apple TV to both devices at the same time?

I recently purchased an Apple TV, and I currently have it linked to my iMac with my iTunes account. I also have a newer MacBook Pro that has some different iTunes media on it than my iMac does, but they share iTunes accounts. Is it possible to link both devices at the same time, have access to media on both computers, and use the same iTunes account on both computers?? It seems Apple TV will only link to one iTunes account per computer, but can access multiple computers if different iTunes accounts are activated on those computers.

You can share multiple libraries with the Apple TV, they don't even need to use the same iTunes account. Just make sure that you use the same ID for homesharing on all devices.
