HT204053 I need 2 separate iCloud accounts for my kids on my device

I need to create iCloud accounts for my kids. 2 of them to be exact so that we can transfer all their games on our iPad to iCloud accounts and free up space. So far all I figured out was that I needed them to have their own apple Ida's, which they now do.  I can't figure out how to get access to creat the iCloud accounts for them.

An iOS device is designed to be used by one user only - unlike a computer where multiple accounts can be set up.  The device can only have one icloud account defined at a time.  Are you trying to use one device with multiple users?  Otherwise I'm not understanding your question.

    Do I need a separate icloud account with each email address?

    Hi Winston and thank you so much for helping me.
    What I would like to do is this. I have 3 email accounts that are important and I use every day so here is where I got messed up in my thinking. I have to select which email to receive my messages. To answer I have to go to each account
    as I do not want to share my email accounts names. Can I assign each aol account name to an apple Id and have the messages go to that account only?
    Winston, I thank you so much.

  • HOW TO?: Need help setting up 3 different iCloud accounts for my kids (so each has own iMessanger)using same Apple ID (mine) ....they don't have their own separate email addresses to work from...how do I do this?

    Any devices connected to the same icloud account can sync all the data on that account.  For this reason an icloud account is really for a single user.
    On a mac, if each user has their own account, then the itunes for that mac account should be set up to connect to that user's icloud account (System preferences>icloud).

  • HT5527 So do you need separate iCloud accounts for your iphone AND your laptop?

    iCloud complimentary storage plans expire tomorrow.  Do we need separate iCloud accounts for iphone and laptop?

    I'm thinking you had a Mac/Me.com account like I did that got transferred to iCloud. We were kinda grandfathered in to 25gig storage while the basic iCloud account storage is 5. As far as I know that storage plan is the only thing that expires tomorrow. You'll just be reverted back to the basic 5gig storage.
    As far as anything else you don't need to have a different iCloud account, remember only one iCloud account can be used for the full suite of services on your phone but you could use a different one for iTunes and App store purchases if you wanted to. My wife and I share one account for those purchses on all our devices and computers but I do also use a separate iCloud account as my main one on my phone to keep our emails, messages, etc. separate.

  • Need to have a separate iCloud account for daughter's iPod touch

    I would like to manage all my iOS devices under one appleID, but with separate icloud accounts for my two daughters, each with their own iPod.  How do I retain my Apple ID on daughter's iPod but have a separate iCloud address so that she doesn't receive my Messages, etc?
    Thanks in advance.
    CN

    You'll have to have separate iCloud accounts to have separate email addresses.  You can do this and still share the same iTunes account for purchasing.  There is no requirement that they be the same ID.
    To change the iCloud ID on each of your daughter's devices, go to Settings>iCloud and tap Delete Account.  (This will only delete the account from this phone, not from iCloud.  The phone that will be keeping the account will not be effected by this.)  If she is syncing any data with your iCloud account, when prompted about what to do with the iCloud data be sure to select Keep On iPod.  Next, set up a new iCloud account using a different Apple ID (if you don't have one, tap Get a Free Apple ID at the bottom).  Then turn iCloud data syncing for contacts, etc. back to On, and when prompted about merging with iCloud, choose Merge.  This will upload the data to the new account.  If they have any of your data in their new accounts, go to icloud.com on your computer, sign into each of the accounts separately and delete it.
    To prevent getting each other's text messages, use separate IDs for iMessage as well.  If you are currently sharing the same ID for iMessage, on each of their devices go to Settings>Messages>Send & Receive, tap the ID, sign out, then sign back in with a separate ID.

    Yes, that's exactly what I'd suggest for the vast majority of users.

  • Can you have two separate icloud accounts for two iphones that sync with the same imac?

    can you have two separate icloud accounts for two iphones that sync with the same imac?

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
    Yes and no.
    There is no issues at all if you use two user accounts on the mac, each can sync with one of the accounts.
    If you are using a single user account, you can add the second account as a secondary account in settings > mail, contacts and calendars and you can then sync mail, contacts, calendars, notes and reminders from the second account, but not documents and data, back to my mac or photostream.

  • Separate iCloud accounts for iphones with same registration.

    My wife and I each have iPhones. Both are registered to the same apple account. Can we have separate icloud accounts for Photo Stream, Contacts and possibly backup?

  • HT204053 can I have multiple icloud accounts for one apple id?

    I have multiple people in my family using our original apple id .  As they have gotten iphones, macbooks, etc they register there devices under our originale apple id.  over the holidays when my youngest child got her ipod touch and registered it for icloud, two of the children now are seeing each others texts?  Is there a way to use the same apple id for the family and have seperate icloud accounts for each person or should we have a seperate apple id for each person?

    Yes but the issue with receiving each other's text messages is not being caused by sharing the same iCloud account.  To fix this, each person needs to be using a separate Apple ID for iMessage on their devices.  (Note: you can continue to use the same iTunes account on all your devices but each person should use a different ID for iCloud, iMessage and FaceTime).  There are a couple of things you need to do to sort all this out.
    First decide who will be keeping the current ID for all services.  On the device(s) belonging to the other people in your family, go to Settings>Messages>Send & Receive, tap the Apple ID, sign out, then sign back in with a saparate ID for each person.  After doing so you will no longer be getting each other's messages on your devices.
    Next, to avoid getting each other's FaceTime calls, do the same thing in Settings>FaceTime.
    For iCloud, to avoid having merged data by syncing with the same iCloud account you will need to migrate each person to their own iCloud account.  To do this, first decide who will be keeping the current account.  On the other devices go to Settings>iCloud, scroll to the bottom and tap Delete Account.  (This will only delete the account from the device, not from iCloud.  The device(s) that will be keeping the current account will not be effected by this.)  When prompted about what to do with the iCloud data, be sure to select Keep On My [iDevice].  Next, set up a new iCloud account using a different Apple ID on the device(s) belonging to each person.  Then turn iCloud data syncing for contacts, etc. back to On, and when prompted about merging with iCloud, choose Merge.  This will upload the data to the new account.
    Finally, to un-merge the data in your iCloud accounts you will then have to go to icloud.com on your computer and sign into each iCloud account separately and manually delete the data you don't want (such as deleting the other person's contacts from your account, and vice versa).

  • How do I get separate iCloud accounts for each family members device and still share iTunes?

    how do I get separate iCloud's for each family members iPhone, iPod and iPad and still share iTunes?

    Have everyone share the same iTunes store ID, but use separate IDs for iCloud.  The ID you use for iCloud does not have to be the same as the ID you use for the iTunes & App store.

  • How do you make separate ICloud accounts for people who all use the same Apple ID?

    Me, my brother and mam all use the same Apple ID (i.e. this one. I'm not Debra) so is it possible to create three different ICloud accounts? I only want my music, pictures etc to go to my IPad, IPhone and my account on the Mac. If it's not possible, is there a way to see all the activity from this Apple ID in one place and split it into three different ID's easily? Thank's for any replies

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
    You can't have 3 accounts with one ID.
    If the reason you want to keep a single ID is so you can share music and apps etc, then you should be aware that the iTunes account and iCloud accounts are different accounts, you can all share an iTunes account but have different iCloud accounts (each iCloud account would have its own ID).

  • Should you get a separate iCloud account for each family member if you are sharing calendars and contacts?

    My husband got his first iPhone. We are now an Apple Family. We share contacts and calendar with our phones and computers. Is one iCloud account ok or should he get his own account? If he gets his own account, would it conflict with mine?

    3 accounts.
    1 for your you
    1 for your husband
    1 for shared purchases (the original if it already has purchases, as purchased content is signed with the Apple ID that it was purchased with, so it cannot be transferred to a different account).
    The individual account are for Messages, FaceTime, iCloud backup, bookmarks, etc...
    Settings -> iCloud
    Settings -> Mail (if you use your Apple ID for you mail)
    Settings -> Messages
    Settings -> FaceTime
    Settings -> Game Center
    The shared account is for purchases
    Settings -> iTunes & App Store
    Settings -> Music -> Home Sharing
    Settings -> Video -> Home Sharing

  • Can I change the icloud account for just one of my devices?

    I have 4 devices (2 iPhones and 2 iPads) on my iCloud account. I want to put one of my phones on a new icloud account so it is not with the other devices. I thought I did this by creating a new Apple ID.  My phone shows the new ID, but still uses the old ID in iTunes and shows up on my other devices under the send & receive message section.

    You just need to sign out of old id in three places.
    Settings - itunes and app store
    Settings - messages
    Settings - facetime.
