You can sync your contacts back with whatever program you chose to sync with in iTunes. i.e. outlook/gmail..etc.

I had the same problem too.
Yes, you can go apply for a new AppleID, which would be <your account>@icloud.com.
Then put this new AppleID into the icloud account field.
After this action, you will not be seeing the same contacts and appointments.
But for the itunes store, you still can use the same AppleID so that you can share purchases.
My wife and I use separate icloud accounts, and then we use a 3rd appleid for our itunes store. This allowed us to have separate contacts but still share itune purchases.

Sorry, but the warranty for the phone is only valid in the country where you bought the device, and you can't send it in, Apple does not ship internationally.
Has the phone been officially unlocked? Only the carrier can unlock an iPhone.

Also, when I was using it yesterday, the volume on my music was sliding up and down by itself, it clicked on albums by itself and wouldn't register my touch, the song kept pausing and playing by itself, and when I backed out of the app, all my running apps started sliding back and forth across the screen as if I were running my finger back and forth extremely fast. It also then opened the phone app, started to call one of my contacts, and wouldn't let me hang up. My phone is relatively new (got it back in June) and I haven't dropped my phone at all, haven't gotten it wet, etc... The only thing I've done to it recently is install iOS7. Does anyone know why this is happening and how I can fix it?

You can transfer itunes purchases: File>Devices>Transfer Purchases
The iphone is not a storage/backup device. The sync is one way - computer to iphone. The exception is itunes purchases.
It has always been very basic to always maintain a backup copy of your computer. Use your backup copy to put everything back.

What about where you purchased it? Otherwise, Apple would be the only one that would know. Since you cannot activate the device to see inside of it, you cannot go to Settings and look at any other information. I would think the seller might be able to provide you with that information if you purchased a locked phone.

You can backup only your settings, messages, recent calls, apps and Camera Roll in your new iTunes.
Your photo albums and music has to be on your computer to sync them back to your iPhone.

Only the carrier the phone is locked to can authorize unlocking it. Why do you think they would do so before you complete the terms of your contract? I don't know specifically what their policy is, but most carriers won't do so unless they are legally required to.
If you didn't want to use Optus, why did you sign a contract with them?

For music that you've purchased from Apple that are on your iPhone you should be able to copy to your computer's iTunes via File > Transfer Purchases. Also if you are in the US then you should be able to re-download past music purchases for free : http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2519
For your own music that you've copied, then if you haven't got a backup on, for example, external drives or CDs/DVDs then you could see if any of the utilities mentioned in this old post still exist and work

Well are you syncing them with the same acount? Are you syncing them to the same source? If you are both syncing the iCal on the same computer then you are going to end up sharing all the entries. You need two differnt AppleId's and user ID on the comuter you are syncing to if you want everything to stay seperate.

IPhone 4 sync issue: apps keep getting moved and all folders deleted

I was hoping someone could help with this: I painstakingly organized my apps (close to 100 of them) into about a dozen folders. When I synced the phone after having done that, my carefully constructed folder system got deleted and the apps were randomly scattered over eight pages, which ***** as it's gonna take forever to re-create the folders and they're not even close to being grouped the way I had them.
I tried restoring the phone and then spent the time to reorganize the apps in iTunes instead of on the phone, and when I synced it, the same thing happened again - all my apps were scattered randomly over eight pages and all my folders were deleted.
Anyone else having this problem or know how to fix it?

This happened to me too! I was so frustrated. I went into the Apple store tonight to talk to them about it. The guy hadn't really heard of it happening so he talked to a "genius" and the genius said that it could happen if you have multiple backups saved in your iTunes and when you restore, it's picking up older backups. I said though that everything else that syncs is current, and it isn't picking up anything else from old backups. PLUS, SOME of my folders are there with SOME of the apps but definitely not all of them. He said the best thing to do is next time you need to do a restore, bring in your phone and computer to the Genius Bar and they could try to help.
