HT204074 Lost Music on Sync operation.

I seem to have lost ALL of my music from my iPhone after a sync operation to my macbook pro.  When I open the music icon on my phone, it is empty and states no music, playlists, albums or songs.  Over 1100 songs gone.  I did subscribe to iTunes match just prior to the sync but nothing is in my cloud under music.  There is no music found on my computer either.  In cyberspace I guess.  Any suggestions?  I would greatly appreciate any help.

Leave the iPod set on "Enable Disk Usage" or "Manual Update" whichever you choose and use a third party program to copy the ipod like yamipod http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=93499

  • Can i retrieve all my lost music after syncing to a new computer

just backed up my ipad to my new macbook and have lost all my music..help..devastated :/

If you synced to a new iTunes library that did not contain all of your music and didn't transfer the music first, then that would cause you to lose all of your music. You can only sync what is already in the iTunes library. If the library is empty when you sync, that erases your device.
But what puzzles me is that you should have gotten a message from iTunes alerting you that the contents would be erased if you synced the iPad. Did you get the message? If you did, did you ignore it and why would you ignore it if you did get it?
If the music was purchased from iTunes, you may be able to download much of it again for free as long as you use the same Apple ID that you bought it with. Read this for more information.

If the music was imported from CD's and you no longer have the CD's or the old computer, there is no way to retrieve it.

  • Lost music when syncing

Can anyone tell me what happened when i synced my phone to my boyfriends computer to download a movie on Itunes and all my music in my IPOD app disappeared and got replaced by his music? Now I can't get my music back. Does anyone know how to get my music back?

Iphone will sync itunes content to one computer. If you sync to another, ti will erase the current content from iphone and replace with content from the new computer.
Your music should be on the computer with which you normally sync. Just sync it back to the iphone.

  • Lost music/reverse sync

ok-so i deleted my morpheus shared music folder, and found out that itunes was using it as a root folder. now all my downloads are marked w/exclamation point and it sez original file/folder not found. the songs are still in the ipod (5.5g-80gvideo). how do i get them back into itunes and the hd in an hp/pc? and yes, i searched for this, tried the link and it does not open/link not found. not my night. please help. soon.

i found how to enable hidden folders on ipod to copy library to hard drive. all i have to do is, wait, wait, wait some more, and then drag/drop into library? will it ask if i want to replace files? will they be there and recognized by itunes? will i explode with the suspense?

  • I have an ipod touch and i just bought a new laptop, because i lost mine. i try to sync the music in the itouch to my new laptop but it asks me if i want to delete all my music before syncing  what should i do?

i have an ipod touch and i just bought a new laptop, because i lost mine which has all the data of my itouch. i try to sync the music in the itouch to my new laptop but it asks me if i want to delete all my music before syncing  what should i do?

You should use your backup copy of your computer to put everything on the new computer.
The sync is one way - computer to ipod.
The ipod will sync with one computer at a time. Syncing to another will erase teh content from the ipod.

  • If my  ipod nano already has music on it but not my account will all my stuff be lost when i sync it to my account

if my ipod nano already has music on it but not on my new account will all my stuff be lost when i sync it to my new accont and would i still be able to add stuff from the old account to my ipod

All your iTunes Store purchases are linked to the account.  I do not think you can use two accounts with an iPod*, so you will have to choose one account or the other, and use only the things purchased under that account.
*I've never actually tried, but that's my understanding.  You'd get a better answer by posting in the correct forum.  Try the iPod forums rather than the Using Apple Support Communities forum.

  • Help....I synced my old iphone to mac book pro and lost music

Help....I synced my old iphone to mac book pro and lost music. Is there a way to recover my music?

Not if it isn't in your itunes library.  If you sync with a new computer iTunes will delete all iTunes media (such as music) from your phone and replace it with whatever media is in the new iTunes library.  Sounds like that's what happened.

Unless you'd signed up to iTunes Match then they won't be in the Cloud, only music purchased from iTunes (if you are in a country where music can be re-downloaded) will be there. Have you not still got it on your computer and/or on a backup which you can use to sync it back to the iPad ?

  • I am trying to recover lost music from my I tunes library, is there any way i can sync from my I pod to my I tunes?, i am trying to recover lost music from my I tunes library, is there any way i can sync from my I pod to my I tunes?

I an trying to recover lost music that was in my I tunes library.
I now have more music on my I pod nano and want to sync this collection back to the I tunes library. Is this possiable ?
If not, can anyone give me a hint, other than the ones on the I tunes tutorial ( none of these have worked ) how I can get my music back

Yes it's possible to sync music back from a iPod back into iTunes that (I assume) wasn't purchased on the iTunes Store.
Apple allows iTunes Store purchases on devices to be reversed back into iTunes, just not cd rips and stuff like that. For that it's a one way trip to the device from iTunes.
I likely can't suggest such software here, but if you visit iLounge you can ask what is the latest software that works for your platform.
Really it only takes a mere few minutes to backup your iTunes Library and stick in a few cd/dvd's or a external drive. iTunes even has a menu command for it to make it oh so simple. Please use it and backup all your data.
Hard drives fail, computers burn up, thieves steal, stuff gets forgotten. Plan for something happening because it will.
    Good Luck

how do i recover lost music i already paid for

    A: If Windows isn't working:
You need to boot the computer from a "recovery disk or USB" that has a operating system on it and a graphical user interface to transfer files from your boot drive to a external drive.
I suggest using the Easy USB Installer to install Ubuntu 10.10 onto a 2-4 GB USB key.
    http://www.pendrivelinux.com/universal-usb-installer-easy-as-1-2-3/
Once you have it installed, consult this page for your BIOS boot key to hold to get into the BIOS.
    http://pcsupport.about.com/od/fixtheproblem/a/biosaccess_pc.htm
Plug the USB into the back (if possible) of the computer, connect the external drive and enter the BIOS, set the USB as first boot and SAVE.
Boot off the USB and "Try Ubuntu/Run from disk" DON'T INSTALL.
Once in, go under the menu Places > Computer and transfer your files to the external drive just like you would in Windows, drag and drop.
B: If the computer hardware isn't working, but the drive might still work:
You'll have to remove the power cord and manually extract the hard drive. This might result in some damage.
There is a powered IDE/SATA to USB adapter for sale online for $20 that you can take that internal hard drive and use it like a external drive to access your files from another Windows machine.
C: If your iTunes content is deleted...
It might be recoverable if it hasn't been overwritten yet by fresh data.
You need to use undelete software pre-installed before the iTunes content was deleted or while on a bootable cd/USB and a external drive to transfer the recovered files.
D: If the hard drive doesn't work and...
The data isn't worth spending $2000-$3000 in a ATTEMPT at recovery, then your finished
E: If you have a "iDevice" with any content
It can be synced back into iTunes, check at iLounge what third party software works reliably now and for your version.
Once you log into your iTunes account, you can snyc only iTunes purchased content back from a iDevice
F: If any of the above is too hard, or the data is of "critical importance"
Then seek professional computer or forensic level recovery services.
    Hope this helps.

  • Why wont my entire music library sync onto iTunes on my MacBook Pro? Why will only my purchased music from iTunes sync?

    Background Info
I recently took my MacBook Pro 2011 to the Genius Bar because I was having issues with the logic board. Unfortunately the computer would freeze, emit three continuous beeps and basically render it useless every time I turned it on. Thus I was unable to do a more recent back up before taking it into the store.  The first time I took it in, they said that the RAM and the logic board looked fine after running system diagnostics. They held onto it for about a week and when I got it back they had said that it was simply an operating system issue and that they had wiped it and reinstalled Mavericks instead of Yosemite which I had been running previous to my issues. However as soon as I took it home, the issues persisted and so I returned to the Genius Bar in hopes that they would see that the logic board was having issues. This time they sent it off to Texas to have all of the faulty parts replaced for a flat rate which included my logic board and optical drive. When I picked it up the lady at the Genius Bar said, "Good news, we didn't have to touch any of your files so they should all be on the MacBook."  Alas they had already been wiped in an attempt to fix my laptop that failed. So all of my music from CD's as well as mp3 downloads of recordings done by boyfriend and other small artists not purchased from iTunes are gone.
    Issue at Hand
I just got my MacBook Pro 2011 back after having it wiped by the folks at the Genius Bar. With only an old back up from 2 or 3 months ago on my external hard drive, I don't have a lot of my more recently downloaded music saved anywhere. All of my iTunes purchased are easily retrievable from iCloud and what not but mp3 downloads of personal recordings done by boyfriend and other small local bands, mp3's purchased on Amazon, mp3's purchased from Bandcamp, free mp3's from Soundcloud artists, etc. will not sync over to my MacBook. All of these songs are still on my iPhone 6 thank goodness but I would very much like to sync them over to my MacBook. If anyone knows how I can overcome this, please let me know. Thank you very much.

Basically anything not purchased from iTunes that is on my iPhone 6 will not sync over to my MacBook. I have tried to just manually back it up but only the purchased music will sync over to iTunes.
