  • HT1918 Hi there, My daughter has forgotten her password for her i pad!!! We keep disabling it. How can i go about finding it out?

My daughter has forgotten her ipad password please help

    Hey MrsPniok777,
These are the recommended steps if you have forgotten or can't remember your passcode, or if your device displays a message saying it is disabled:
Connect the device to the computer with which you normally sync and open iTunes.
Note: If iTunes asks you to enter the passcode, try another computer that you have synced with. Otherwise, go to "If you have never synced your device with iTunes, or you do not have access to a computer" section below.
If the device is still disabled, or if iTunes does not automatically sync your device, sync the device with iTunes.
If you have chosen to encrypt your backup, it will contain the passcode. Disable backup encryption before restoring from backup. Learn more about iOS backups in iTunes.
When the backup and sync is complete, select Restore from Backup and choose the most recent backup of your device.
If you have never synced your device with iTunes, or you do not have access to a computer, move on to the section at the bottom of the following article:

  • My daughter has disabled her ipad, i cant find it in any itunes library to back up.  How do I fix it

my daughter has disabled her ipad2.  i cant find it synced with any of our tunes libraries.  She doesn't know if she has backed it up.  How do i fix?

Do you mean she has forgotten her passcode, and entered it incorrectly so many times she is locked out now?
If so, the only way to reset the passcode is to restore the device in iTunes.  If there is no backup already in place, then there is no way to back it up now.  She will loose whatever content is on it when restoring it to override the forgotten passcode.
Her purchased content should be re-downloadable (everything but audiobooks should be, except for those rare things that occasionaly get removed from the store).
Does she have an iCloud account?  If so, she may be backing up to iCloud.  If she is, then once you restore it in iTunes, you can set up her iCloud account again, and try to restore from the backup there.

  • HT1459 my daughter has forgotton her passcode. we have not linked the ipod to i tunes how can we unlock it

My daughter has forgotten her passcode. The ipod has not be synched with itunes so does anyone know how to unlock it. I have tried a few things that I have found on you tube but can't get them to work.

    See Here  >  http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1808
You may need to try this More than Once...
Because the iPod has Not been Synced with iTunes... All Data will be lost
And... if the Device has been Modified... this will Not necessarily work.

    5. How to Recover Forgotten iPhone Restrictions Passcode | The iPhone and iPad
If you have forgotten your Restrictions code, then follow the instructions
below but DO NOT restore any previous backup. If you do then you will
simply be restoring the old Restrictions code you have forgotten. This
same warning applies if you need to restore a clean system.
A Complete Guide to Restore or Recover Your iDevice (if You Forget Your Passcode)
If you need to restore your device or ff you cannot remember the passcode, then you will need to restore your device using the computer with which you last synced it. This allows you to reset your passcode and re-sync the data from the device (or restore from a backup). If you restore on a different computer that was never synced with the device, you will be able to unlock the device for use and remove the passcode, but your data will not be present. Refer to Updating and restoring iPhone, iPad and iPod touch software.
Try restoring the iOS device if backing up and erasing all content and settings doesn't resolve the issue. Using iTunes to restore iOS devices is part of standard isolation troubleshooting. Restoring your device will delete all data and content, including songs, videos, contacts, photos, and calendar information, and will restore all settings to their factory condition.
Before restoring your iOS device, Apple recommends that you either sync with iTunes to transfer any purchases you have made, or back up new data (data acquired after your last sync). If you have movie rentals on the device, see iTunes Store movie rental usage rights in the United States before restoring.
Follow these steps to restore your device:
         1. Verify that you are using the latest version of iTunes before attempting to update.
         2. Connect your device to your computer.
         3. Select your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch when it appears in iTunes under Devices.
         4. Select the Summary tab.
         5. Select the Restore option.
         6. When prompted to back up your settings before restoring, select the
Back Up option. If you have just backed up the device, it is not necessary
              to create another.
         7. Select the Restore option when iTunes prompts you (as long as you've backed up,
you should not have to worry about restoring your iOS device).
         8. When the restore process has completed, the device restarts and displays the Apple
             logo while starting up:
After a restore, the iOS device displays the "Connect to iTunes" screen. For updating
to iOS 5 or later, follow the steps in the iOS Setup Assistant. For earlier versions of
iOS, keep your device connected until the "Connect to iTunes" screen goes away or
              you see "iPhone is activated."
         9. The final step is to restore your device from a previous backup. If you do not have a
backup to restore or have forgotten your restrictions passcode, then restore as New.
If you are restoring to fix a forgotten Restrictions Code or as a New device, then skip Step 9 and restore as New.

My daughter has disabled her i phone 4 we have tried everything from trying to back up to i tunes, sync and holding the sleep wake to restart it all this has proved fruitless and her phone has now been disabled 10 hours can anyone help please

Can you use "find my phone" and clear the phone?
I forgot my passlock and had to: find my phone / erase all content / restore from cloud. I was out of town and didn't have my laptop.I regularly back up to iCloud and my laptop.
Might be able t "clear" phone from iTunes also, then restore from a previous back up.
    Good luck..

‘iPad is disabled’ fix without resetting using iTunes
Today I met my match with an iPad that had a passcode entered too many times, resulting in it displaying the message ‘iPad is disabled – Connect to iTunes’. This was a student iPad and since they use Notability for most of their work there was a chance that her files were not all backed up to the cloud. I really wanted to just re-activate the iPad instead of totally resetting it back to our default image.
I reached out to my PLN on Twitter and had some help from a few people through retweets and a couple of clarification tweets. I love that so many are willing to help out so quickly. Through this I also learned that I look like Lt. Riker from Star Trek (thanks @FillineMachine).
Through some trial and error (and a little sheer luck), I was able to reactivate the iPad without loosing any data. Note, this will only work on the computer it last synced with. Here’s how:
    1. Configurator is useless in reactivating a locked iPad. You will only be able to completely reformat the iPad using Configurator. If that’s ok with you, go for it – otherwise don’t waste your time trying to figure it out.
    2. Open iTunes with the iPad disconnected.
    3. Connect the iPad to the computer and wait for it to show up in the devices section in iTunes.
    4. Click on the iPad name when it appears and you will be given the option to restore a backup or setup as a new iPad (since it is locked).
    5. Click ‘Setup as new iPad’ and then click restore.
    6. The iPad will start backing up before it does the full restore and sync. CANCEL THE BACKUP IMMEDIATELY. You do this by clicking the small x in the status window in iTunes.
    7. When the backup cancels, it immediately starts syncing – cancel this as well using the same small x in the iTunes status window.
    8. The first stage in the restore process unlocks the iPad, you are basically just cancelling out the restore process as soon as it reactivates the iPad.
If done correctly, you will experience no data loss and the result will be a reactivated iPad. I have now tried this with about 5 iPads that were locked identically by students and each time it worked like a charm.
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    Try it and good luck. You have nothing more to lose if it doesn't work for you.
     Cheers, Tom
