HT2492 Clicking on different widget than the one previously used, brings me back to Desktop?

Hello,
I have a problem where if I click on a widget other than the one I previously used, I am taken back to my Desktop. I then have to open dashboard again, to get to the widget i want. I can now use the widget i initially wanted, but clicking on a different widget starts the cycle again. This is really annoying me. How can i fix this?
By the way, I am running 10.7.3 and I am up to date on all Mac updates.

this one is actually a really rare symptom of a flaky connection to the ipod on a Windows PC. there's more going on in terms of hardware on nanos and 5th gens than in the earlier models ... so if the connection is flaky to precisely the right/wrong degree, itunes will see the ipod, but misidentify it as an earlier version of ipod.
tracking down the cause of the flakiness can be tricky ... as you already know ...
just checking. have you tried connecting with a different (known-good) USB cable? does that seem to have any impact on the rate of occurence of the problem?

This should work; one of my e-mail accounts is my own domain through Gmail. Make sure your username is set to your full e-mail address (like [email protected]) rather than just your username.
Did you set it up on your iPhone as an IMAP account, or as a Gmail account? It should work perfectly using the Gmail setting. It can work as IMAP, but you need to jump through a few hoops to get there.

How do I create an action to save as, but into a different folder than the one I used to create the action?

I am having an issue with my action being created to save under the same folder that my action was created with. For instance, I opened an image, recorded the action, then I went to a different folder to play the action, but it saves to the previous folder. How do I add some way to change the folder I want my pics to save to?

This division of my Mac happened when I switched to my new Mac and didn't know I had to use the same name to transfer my data. My old data is listed as a separate user. Over time my old user name brings up a window full of ???? at the bottom. It looks like no apps ever upgrade there. It is driving me crazy to have to now switch back each time I start my computer. (I am using an iMac with 3.06 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo processor).

How do I copy backed-up files from an external hard drive back to my MBA, but under a different user than the one from which they were backed up?

On the advice of the Chicago Mac Genius Bar, in order to get better performance on my few years old MBA, I copied my Home folders (but not Library) to an external hard drive, created a new user, deleted the old user, and tried to copy the Home folder contents from the external hard drive back to the MBA under the new user. However, I get an error message and can't open most of the folders on the external hard drive (e.g. "The folder “Desktop” can’t be opened because you don’t have permission to see its contents.") As captfred says, yes (as long as the drive is formatted for a Mac, not Windoze).

Apps are permanently tied to the ID used to purchase them.
Go to https://appleid.apple.com/cgi-bin/WebObjects/MyAppleId.woa/ and re-set th password for the old one.
Then, log into the app store with it and update the apps purchased with that ID.

Webcrawler issue: Downloads different file than the one visible in browser

Hi Everyone,
I am using a webcrawler to download webpages from a site. But it seems to be downloading different HTML files from the ones I can see in the browser. Someone suggested that I might try and setRequestProperty() to fake a browser.
Could anyone tell me how to do that? I would really appreciate that. A pointer to a website would also be great...

Thanks for the replies. The program can download the HTML pages correctly, apart from one missing column in a table in each page (which happens to be important for me!).
I am getting the HTML files using HttpURLConnection.
It has been pointed out to me by another someone :) that this might be due to the fact that the site requires a login, which I completely forgotten when writing the code. So that someone seems to suggest that adding code for setting cookies might solve this issue. Can anyone lead me through the process briefly? Or point me to documentation?

When I try to locate my ipod it shows that I'm in a different area than the one I'm really in.

When I used the map on my ipod touch 4th genernation, it showed my location as being in China, when in fact I'm in California. I tried to go to my settings and see what my timezone said, when I switched the time zone to automatically set, it showed me as being in Shanagi, China. I then set automatic time zone set up off and put in my time zone, yet my location when using locate my ipod still shows me in China. It shows my other devices in their correct places, but not mine. How can I fix this?

For location, the iPod uses the location of nearby wifi routers that are in Apples database. It does not have to be the router you are connected to. It appears that the router the iPod is using is incorrect in Apple's database. There is no way that anyone know how to update App;s database. They update it themselves with data collect from iPhones and maybe iPads with cellular service.
Jailbreaking has nothing to do with it.

Hi, I am also having this issue - as far as I can tell it only happens to one playlist, which was created by dragging a public playlist onto the "New Playlist" box (this is the only time I have made a playlist this way - I usually create the playlist and add songs or create a playlist by dragging individual songs onto it). I'll try recreating this one by dragging individual songs onto the box - see if that fixes it. This has happened several times in the past 24 hours. A minute ago I went to another playlist and back to this one and it was fixed, but I've done nothing that would've fixed it permanently. Note that there have been several updates since March, so this wasn't fixed (at least not in all cases) in the update back in March. i tried restarting, deleting history, signing out of my youtube account.

I usually use the Itunes application on my Ipad in FRence and use the French Itunes store. I am now in Cyprus and after synchronising my Ipad there I now can access the US Itunes Store but my purchases are refused as my account is with the French Itunes store. How do I either open an account with the US Itunes store or revert to the French Itunes store on my Ipad?

synchronising is not the problem i think, you need a new US apple id. i only have a malaysian credit card but i have separate ids for US UK and Malaysia. i have travelled to these 3 countries and have home adresses in each country but for buying stuff, I use an iTunes store card instead of a credit card cos its easier. you do not need a credit card that must have billing address from the same country as the iTunes store. So I would suggest if you are currently based in the US go the nearest apple store buy an iTunes store card (i buy in multiples of US$100 with a credit card) and use your current US home address as the US iTunes address.
so log off your french iTunes store account, create new US apple id for your iTunes store account using your current US address and then redeem your itunes store card and voila you are set to go. (did i mention you will also need a new separate email address for the new apple id) i have one each from gmail, yahoo and hotmail for each separate id.
the only drawback is that when you want to do an update for the apps that you buy from the different iTunes store, you must log in to that iTunes store account ie if you buy an app from the US store you must log in and update with the US store id and to update the apps from the French store you must log off from the US store and log in again with the french store id.

Could it be that you had more instruments on the old computer? Or haven't correctly installed the instruments on the new one?
Obviously, GB hasn't assigned a drum instrument to the track that the drum notes are on (my guess: since it doesn't have the desired drum set.) Press cmd-I to make the track info pane visible and pick one of the drum sets for that track.
