HT2500 How does one set up an .mac mail account?

One of our MSN Hotmail accounts has been hacked, and a friend (who has an Apple .mac account) has suggested that we should be using .mac mail accounts but I cannot find out how to set one up. Do I have to go down to the Apple store to find out or . . . . I must be able to do this online?

You can't create an iCloud account on a PC. You must create the account on a Mac running Lion or newer, or an IOS device.

If you haven't set up a mail account, it will probably ask you if you want to set one up, but here's how I do it.
Press command-, and that will take you to preferences.
Up near the top click the "Accounts" tab
Click the plus button that is located at the lower left corner.
Enter your name, email address, and password.
Click enter then click continue
Set the account type to POP or IMAP. Whichever one you want is fine as long as it works with your email service.
Don't change the next security settings. Click continue.
Enter something for the description. Make sure that the "Use Athentication" checkbox is checked. Enter your password and click continue.
Click continue you might have to go through one of the security settings again. Click continue.
An account summary will come up. Click "Take account online". Then click create.
You have added your account to Mail.

In Mail>Preferences>Accounts tab>Account Information tab - from the 'Outgoing Mail Server (SMTP):' drop-down menu select 'Edit SMTP Server List...', choose the server you want to edit from those listed, click on the Advanced tab. Does that give you the option you're after?

You first need to set up a new User Name and Password with your Internet Service Provider (ISP); that is, whoever provides you with Internet access, such as Comcast, AT&T, etc in the US. Alternately you can go on the Internet and set up a new email Account with a new User Name and Password with a public company such as Google's "Gmail" or Microsoft's "Hotmail". Once you have set up your new Account with them, THEN you enter that information into Apple's "Mail" for it to send and receive emails for your new outside Account.

Question how does one migrate or copy a list with out assocaiting with another account, ex my play list on this account I like to put on my other account since I want to keep my music from FB(this account is linked through sign up, where as my other account don't). I know how to copy the list url and do know how to drag and drop to desk top, both assocaite with this account Why ask this question when looking at when something is added or who added it it gives an account number(and that account was deleted for a reason and list migrated to this account). Is there a possibility of taking my lists with out account number or would that be impossible? Note I use 8.1 for Windows

1) on the old account : copy the Playlist Link (Right click on the title)
2) Paste it on your web browser
3) open your new account.
4) Play the playlist in your browser
5) Playlist will open also in your Spotify desktop
6) Subscribe to the playlist. That will save the playlist on the folder PLAYLISTS (on left side)
7) Always on your new account, create a new playlist with the same title if you want
8) Copy all the tracks from the old playlist to the new one
9) Delete the old playlist
10) Now you have a playlist with your new user name as creator

I set up my mac mail account on the computer using all the same info as the phone but I still can't get mac mail on the computer.

Ever since icloud came out my desktop has been a traffic jam of pop ups. Apple Passwords are recognized in one app but rejected in another. I'm never able to set up my .mac mail it just won't receive.
The new iphoto is a complicated mess. Once you email photos to a friend you are stuck in the mail portion and have to close out to get out.

My wife and I use the same Airport Extreme station to access the Internet and each other’s machine. Every time one of us wants to connect to the other machine via AFP, a dialog box springs up that has radio buttons, giving the choice of ‘Registered User’ or ‘Guest.’
Where, on the serving computer, can one set up a ‘registered user’ with a password? Would doing so allow the registered user a wider access than only the ‘Drop Box?’

"Registered user", in effect, means "OS X user on the machine being shared". So, you could, right now, click on "registered user" and log in to your wife's Mac using her login details (and vice versa). If you log in as a user, as opposed to a guest, you get access to that user's entire home folder. If that user is also an administrator, you get access to the whole system drive.
Guests actually have access to the "Public" folders in the system (which includes the Drop Box).

I am sure I am missing something here (so excuse me if its a simple answer) but I am used to using Photo Mechanic and there you are able to set lots of variables while resizing. I don't understand this Bridge resizing window when using Batch Processing thru Photoshop.
-There are two boxes for sizing. If you put the same dimension in both does it just set the longest dimension to that size?
-What if I want say a 10x10 inch image at 72 DPI for web use as opposed to a 10 x10 inch image at 300 DPI for printing purposes, where does one enter that info?

You don't "resize" anything in Bridge, nor does it set PPI, pixels per inch—and most certainly NOT "DPI" (Dots [of ink] Per Inch) which is exclusively a feature of the printer.
Bridge is just a File Browser. It used to be called simply the Photoshop File Browser". It doesn't open, edit, manipulate resize or even save anything.
It merely hands the file(s) over to the appropriate application, whether that be Photoshop, adobe Camera Raw, Illustrator, InDesign or even MS Word.

Have you tried going to System Preferences > Users and Groups and set a password for each user on the system?
Did you setup this MacBook Pro out of the box without any user accounts or passwords?
