HT2513 Why do some events sync and others don't?

I have an iMac 27" running OSX 10.6.8 and a latest model iPod Touch which I have syncing with the iMac and is running iOS 6.1.2.
I first noticed that they weren't syncing reliably when I lined up some Apple Store classes.
I DLed the iCal events and double clicked on them. They show up in the desktop iCal but some do and some don't on the iPod Touch.
The same happens with events I create myself. Some Sync and some don't. I did these all in the same session, so can't understand what is the difference.
I have all Callendars checked in the iPod's Calendars app.
I have tried restarting both the desktop and Mac apps and even restarting both devices completely.
The missing events just stubbornly refuse to show up.
Can anyone else think what else to try.
To be frank looking at the whole process of importing events from the Apple Store, down to the adding of my own events and then syncing them is a tedious shambles. Certainly not something that "just works".

Hopefully, your question will get a response soon.

I too am running 10.6.&.
iOS is 6.1.2 (iPhone 4S).
In my case, there are far more events that fail to sync than sync properly. But there is no rhyme or reason to any of it that I can see.

I use pdf files created from CamScanner and shared from DropBox. In DropBox, many times (over 50%) while opening the PDF the process freezes and the error message is Adobe Reader is not responding. If you close the program, and re-open the file, it opens fine. I have saved these files to my computer and the same issue occurs. The files are 100-500kb, so I do not think size is the issue. I have reinstalled Reader (11.1.10) and there is no improvement.

Can't sync all ringtones, some get sync, and some don't even though I clearly have them all checked.

I've created my AAC file and then changed it to m4r mode and then I copied it back to the tones section of iTunes. Everything is fine at this stage. Then when I try to sync all my tones, some get sync and some don't even though I clearly have all of them checked. So I click the all tones box instead and sync, then other tones which previously have not been synced are synced and those that were synced previously do not get synced. I've tried everything, from making duplicates of songs to even deleting my tones and re-syncing. I've taken over an hour to sync and still unsuccessful. Why is it so complicated just to sync a few tones? Is apple trying to discourage customers from using custom ringtones and only those from the iTunes store? Im so ready to just throw my phone... It's so much easier to transfer tones over using an android phone since I dont have to use some stupid software by android and sync when i can just drag and drop.

What fixed it for me:
On your computer, open iTunes > My iPhone (or whatever name you gave your iPhone) > "Music" page
Uncheck "Sync Music"
Click "Sync" button (bottom right)
Let it run and finish
Uncheck the box for every song, playlist, etc.
Click "Sync" button (bottom right) (This step may be unnecessary, but I did it and got the result I wanted.)
Let it run and finish
Check the boxes for the music you want on your iPhone
Click "Sync" button (bottom right)
Let it run and finish
See if that doesn't work for you. I tried a lot of things that did nothing, but this seems to have fixed it, and quickly.

If an app does not behave as expected, try closing the app completely and reboot the iPad. It appears as though you have the original iPad. It helps if you list your iPad model and the iOS that you are running.
Tap the home button once. Then tap the home button twice and the recents tray will appear at the bottom of the screen. Tap and hold down on any app icon until it begins to wiggle. Tap the minus sign in the upper left corner of the app that you want to close. Tap the home button twice.
Reboot the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider if it appears on the screen - let go of the buttons. Let the iPad start up.

In general, you need to use the "f" (kannada qwerty keyboard) or "d" key (kannada) between letters to make special forms. Also you may need to adjust the typography settings of the font, which is done by doing Format > Font > Show Fonts > Gear Wheel > Typography as shown below. If you can provide screenshots or more detailed info on things you cannot make, I can perhaps help.
It is important to note that MS Word for Mac does not support Indic scripts -- any other app should work OK.

Siri requires a 5th generation iPod Touch. Yours appears to be a 4th generation.

Why do some events show date and time in ical?

Some events show the date and time, others show only the time. I cannot find a setting in preferences to have it be one way or another. I do enter events both on the computer and also my iphone 4s, but that doesn't seem to be the difference.

For some strange reasons different episode of the same series, with exactly the same encoding as the others, don't show on the Apple TV when streaming from iTunes: the files are identical in encoding, yet part of them just won't show. I was wondering if anyone knew how to fix this.

I have the same problem.
I am running iTunes on a Mac Mini connected to a Drobo external drive as my media server. I do not sync any movies or TV shows but just stream them when viewing. This works flawlessly in general. However I have 335 movies, all ripped and re encoded using the same method (handbrake). Only 315 of the movies show on the Apple TV movie list. I have two Apple TV devices in different parts of the house and both show exactly the same list of movies. So there are 20 movies that are on the Mac Mini and can be viewed within iTunes on the Mac Mini, but don't show up on the Apple TV list.
I have tried deleting the links to all of my movies and then re established the links by repeating the
Add to Library....
command, but the same movies just don't show up on the Apple TV's.
Any assistance would be appreciated.

Why on my ipad do some PDFs download and others I get a blank screen?

When I use safari to download PDFs sometimes I can and other times I get a blank page. But if I download the same pfd on my iPhone it works. Why doesn't it ways work when I use my ipad ?

I was having the same problem. I noticed that the PDFs that I was having problems with were usually large PDFs. I opened them on my computer and reprinted them through Adobe Reader but I refined them to a smaller size. Most of the time this does the trick. I know its a pain, but if you need to take PDFs with you on your iPad, its the only way I found it works. Here's how to do it:
Open the PDF on you computer (PC or Mac).
Click File--> Print in Reader.
Select "Adobe PDF" under printer.
Click on Properties --> Adobe PDF Settings (tab) --> Default settings. Select "Smallest File Size" from drop down. Click OK.
Click Print and save to your desktop.
This will create a small version of the original PDF file on you desktop.
Then email the PDF to yourself. Click on the PDF in the body of the email and open it. If you need to take it with you and read it without internet or wifi access, open it in in iBooks and it will be saved on your device.
I know this is a pain, but its the only way I can get certain PDFs to open on my iPad. If you don't have access to a computer, ask who ever is sending you the PDF to do it on their end and send it again.
Apple really needs to fix this problem. iOS really has a problem with certain PDFs. Sometimes you not only get a blank screen, but I find that some files are corrupted and come out with crazy colors and unreadable areas.

Why some jar applet are cached and other don't?

In some applets every update is immediately visible in Java console, in other applets i need to clear jar file stored in jvm cache to see my updates.
Anybody knows how?

tnx for you response. You are right, jars aren't downloaded until they ary modified.
the problem is that in jvm cache these jar result expired (expire date is set to "yesterday") and i don't know why..

EXDATE's BlackBerry Syncing and other discoveries

I may be wrong, but when my BlackBerry refused to sync with my Mac, I did some investigating and found that the BlackBerry Desktop manager does not handle Exception dates very well. Thus I started looking for these in the iCal database.
I tried this and it might work for you. As always, I recommend dragging a copy of the folder you will edit out of the Library (to your desktop)before making these edits, so if something goes wrong, you can replace the folder you destroyed.
If someone in the know can comment and explain about EXDATE's I would appreciate it since this is kind of like blind editing, and though it has worked for me, I would like to know why or if there is a better way. I feel kind of like a monkey with a machine gun doing this edit.
Repairing iCal Calendar problems by editing the .ics files found in user/Library/Calendars/xxxxxxxx.calendar
BlackBerry desktop manager does not like Exception dates EXDATE's. The calendar synchronization fails when it finds one. Thus we must get rid of them.
Go into each file dragging each file into text edit and look for EXDATE lines and remove them:

speaking candidly, being a "business professional" may I suggest an alternative approach at this point in time.
Personally, I have categorized my material into four sub groupings
(complex)     - Documents with dependencies (business systems designs, modifications, notes best practices)
(active)         - currently being used or modified / pending delivery
(processed)   - rececntly completed (30-60 days)
(inactive)      - 60 days or older
I then looked at what worked best on my mac, ipad, iphone and pc used with the cloud.
Personally, I discovered that my actives and recently completed worked well in the cloud as long as i did not make them to complex in nature (keeping it simple)
I then looked for alternative storages, usb, pocket drives to keep the intergration i desired for complex, processed and inactives.
I also explored other sources to save my information (best practices/ease of use etc)
dropbox, box, alfresco, skydrive, soonr
I discovered a happy hybrid between the cloud and alternative sources.
Now to your question, I do not believe you were off in your expectations and most likely overtime things will be rectified or improved upon.... my personal thoughts are those of (if I am able to introduce information into a document - as long as my formats are compatable my products accross the boad should work successfully)
I would also advise you contact apple support under mountain lion (since it is new and u have 90 days of support as of purchase date) and discuss the issue in greater detail, addressing document size, space utilizations, syncing and the best practices aspects of notes and document integration.
They may have the information to help you suceed in your qwest,.

Why did some events & photos disappear when I moved library to X drive

I tried to free up some storage on my computer. I followed the IPhoto Help instructions and moved the I photo library picture package to my Xternal hard drive. When I open it from there (or from the Hard Drive where I copied it back again)...some photos only show up when I view the entire photo collection. They do not show up as events and they do not show up when I click them to open for editing. Just black space. They do show up in the thumbnails in the books I'm creating and in the books. Why can't I click and edit them? They also will not export to the desk top.
Once again I have messed up in an attempt to do what seemed like a good idea. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Option 1
Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the apple and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild. Choose to Rebuild iPhoto Library Database from automatic backup.
If that fails:
Option 2
Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. This will create a new library based on data in the albumdata.xml file. Not everything will be brought over - no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your albums and keywords, faces and places back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one.

Some songs sync and some don't....

I can get some of my songs to sync to my nano, but others don't and no error message pops up. I can sometimes get them to sync IF I add them to a playlist, but that shouldn't be required. There is no exclamation mark to let me know there is a problem locating the song and they play just fine as long as I have itunes open, but don't sync...I have enough memory, and I have my settings selected to where only checked songs sync and it is checked.....
I have turned on and off my computer, nano, internet, etc.....
Any advise....

I am having very similar issues, I purchased an album on my iPhone and it's not showing up on my iPad or Mac and I have iTunes Match plus it should auto update based on the fact it's all one account!!!

HT2513 iCal string of events repeat and end on a given date?

Is there a way to have any given string of events repeat and end on a given date?
Example, I have a different training regiment for each day leading up to an event/date and then will have the same training regiment again leading up to another event. I want each day's training regiment to show up as an event per day... but don't want to have to post each days repeat string of training prior to each event... and they don't nessecarily repeat monlthy or regularly... I want to set an end date and all the training fill in from that date backwards. Is this possible??

Does this work any better? New-jobtrigger requires a datetime object.

Photoshop cs5, Opening Tiff into Raw. Some open and others don't.

I have installed cs5 onto my Windows Envy laptop. I want to open my tiff into raw. I can do that with some of the tiff files and others I cannot, the option is greyed out. Then the pic. next to it works and the one after does not, so forth and so on. I have gone back and forth in changing the camera raw preferences settings to try and get something going to no avail.
Any answers ??
