Can I merge the transferred user account to my mac account? Or do i have to log in to the user account separately every time?

    You can't merge Apple IDs.
    And you also can't change the name of an iTS Apple ID to another one that ends in a me.com.

    Hello everyone,
    I am working on my friends mac to get it ready to sell. I went into the advanced options of the user and changed the name of the account. That's all I changed. I did read the warning that said if anything was changed it could cause damage, that's why I only changed the name of the user account. I didn't want to mess with anything else. Well, needless to say, I am locked out of the machine. Apparently the root user, system administrator, account was not enabled and I am stuck at the screen that I can get to with my installation disc. So how can I enable the root user account and get back onto the machine from the screen I am at? Can I enable the root user from terminal? I spent a good 8 hours yesterday researching this topic and have come up empty. Changing passwords from commands in terminal is not the problem. I am given just one account to choose from to log on and it's not accepting the password because of the changes I made in the advanced options menu.
    Is there any hope of getting this thing going again? Or have I just screwed myself over?

    You can reset the password.

    Do you need to recover data from it before you sell it?  If not you can just wipe the disk and prepare it for sale.

    Apple IDs cannot be merged. You should use your preferred Apple ID from now on, but you can still access your purchased items such as music, movies, or software using your other Apple IDs.

    That's the classic behaviour after using Migration Assistant and that's normal.

    iTunes is required to initially activate the phone. Back when the iPhone 3G was sold, you would take it out of the box and see a "Connect to iTunes" screen. She HAD to connect to a computer in order to begin using the phone. Does she remember what computer this was?

    That's not relevant for making two libraries one. The content of any library is tied to an Apple ID. You cannot merge an Apple ID and you cannot merge two libraries that are tied to two different Apple IDs. That can only be done at Apple, and as far as I know they don't do that.

    If it's your non-iCloud mail address, start here, change your country if necessary and go to manage your account
    If it is your iCloud mail address you want to change, you can't.

I can't rememeber any answer to any of mu questions and I can't even register my product (iPod Classic) even though I purchased it 6 months ago. Customer Service held me on the line for 30+ minutes asking me all the time if I rememeber one anwer to my questions (to which I repeatedly said no) and there seems to be no way to circumvent that security system, not even with my second email, also registered on My Itunes. Isn't there any way for me to get those 20 dollars back I already have in your store or at least reset my security questions if I don't rememeber?

    Oops my bad...I see that during my troubleshooting I inadvertently left Ringtones unchecked in iTunes.

    Thank you for your suggestion.  I backup on itunes. I went to itunes, deleted syncing my contacts, then re-synced them. But the Facetime capability option continues to be there on most (not all, for some curious reason) of my contacts. I am not sure I posed my question correctly.  I want to be able to FT with my family, so don't want to delete the FT capability totally from my iphone and ipad. But I don't want all these other iphone calls from various contacts to ring on my ipad as FT calls.  I want a way to select with whom I have FT capabilities. Any further suggestions? It has happen twice. Two different teachers in two different classrooms entering the correct user name and passwords and computer won't allow them to login. Then they try in different computers in same classroom and have no problem login.

    Yes. I can login with a test user. And any other network user can login as well to this particular mac. Actually the mac has bootcamp and boots into either mac or windows. The same user entering the same login username and password can login into the windows side, but not the mac side.
    I had this same issue last semester in another classroom, another mac and a different teacher. This summer I reformatted and imaged that mac and I asked that teacher to login today to that reimagened mac and she had no problem today doing so.
