i am trying to go into windows movie maker to make a photo disc with songs from my i tunes but it tells me i can not do it because codec is not installed.i have tried to get codec but does not seem to have worked.

Go into your system profiler and tell us your Machine Identifier that says:
iMac x,y (give us the x and y values)
That will tell us whether you are Mavericks compatible or not.
Also tell us how much RAM you have installed.

Converting quick time into windows movie maker

I wanted to create a basic slideshow in windows movie maker that includes video clips too. I've done this before. However, I have a video clip that was taken on my digital camera and downloaded into the computer. It is a quick time file. I am not able to import this into windows movie maker. Is there a way I can convert this? Or export it out onto my video camera thru firewire? I don't want to spend money on Quick Time Pro 7.

I'm pretty sure, your digicam came with some software, which allows the download to a Windows machine... read the manual.....

such .mov files would be imported flawless on a Mac, but Windows?... very little support here...

Import songs from iTunes into Windows Movie Maker

I have found it difficult to use my songs in any other application. I'm creating videos using Windows Movie Maker (Vista) and when I go to import the songs aren't showing up in the iTunes Music folder. I also downloaded the files into an external drive. When I opened the external drive separate the songs were there. When I was in Windows Movie Maker and went to import the files weren't there. Any suggestions on how to use songs from iTunes. I feel as though I've purchased them and can't use them anywhere else other than on my iPod and computer.

If they are protected files, that's correct. You can only use them on iPods, authorized computers and Apple TVs.

Soundtrack Pro, with Logic Studio. app will not work, while Garage Band is present on my iMac?

Still new to Logic Pro. Got the Soundtrack Pro when i bought the Logic Studio. am i to understand that this app will not work, while Garage Band is present on my iMac?
if this is true, i'd welcome any suggestions. do i have to delete GarageBand on current machine which has Logic Pro?

My MacPro w/ OSX 10.6.8 runs GarageBand, SoundtrackPro and Logic 9 (Express) without issues.
Everything was installed fresh - ie no overwrite OS upgrades and no app version overwrite upgrades.
Just so we are clear - an UPGRADE would be from OSX 5 to 6 or from Logic 8 to 9 and involves a purchase. UPDATES are those decimal increments - 10.6.7 to 10.6.8 or Logic 9.1.3 to 9.1.6 that are free.
Sometimes the sequence of installs can make a difference.

The only way to get an apple ID is to have an email account you've never used before. The only thing you can do is make her an email.

IPhone 3G with iOS 4.2 will not work with iTunes 10.2 What can I do?

I updated iTunes from 9 to 10 without issue got as far as 10.1 all worked fine. Notified of update for iPhone (3G) 4.2 so, I went for it and all still worked well. I then upgraded iTunes to 10.2 and disaster struck! iTunes takes very long time to start will freeze when device connected then fails to see the iPhone. It now appears I may have updated myself into extinction. The latest from iTunes 10.2.2 is not working. I removed AMDS and reverted back to 10.0.1 and it worked for that day I thought I was good all I needed to do worked smoothly. A few days later I am back where I was a month ago with iTunes slow and failing to see device. I know the phone works as it just did a few days ago. I tried to revert to 10.1 and that failed now the AMDS from 10.0 failed to stay working. I can lose the library and movies either on iPhone or in iTunes but, I need the other data notes,calendar, etc. Any ideas? iTunes is not seeing device when connected. It simply freezes (Not Responding) for minutes then fails to see device.
I have previously uninstalled and re-installed latest from Apple 10.2.2. The only way I got that to work was uninstall AMDS and install version 10.0.1 this worked beautifully for ONE Night only. I am now with 10.2.2 that takes 2-4 minutes to start (non responding half of that time the first half just not shown by task manager) and cannot see device. I tried starting iTunes with devices plugged in and same issues. Windows (Vista 32) does see iPhone.

Using JavaBean with JSP...will not work no matter what

Hi guys. Sorry that this is such a common, newb question, but I don't know where else to turn.
I'm new to web application development, Tomcat, and JSP. I'm trying to use a simple JavaBean in a JSP to store some user information. The JSP is located in $CATALINA_HOME\webapps\art , and the UserBean I'm trying to use is in $CATALINA_HOME\webapps\art\WEB-INF\classes . I've tried adding a context in the Tomcat server.xml file, but nothing seems to work, even putting the .class file into the \art directory along with the JSP. The error I get is the following:

Thanks for any and all help anyone could give me about this. It seems such a simple thing, to get a JavaBean working in a JSP...and it's very frustrating to have it NOT work when it seems I've done everything possible to get it to.

Ok, I figured out what the problem was. My Bean was not a part of any specific package. It was never made clear to me that Beans are required to be a part of some package...I had no idea (though they always put them in packages in the tutorials, you think I would have picked up on it!).
So I just added the following line to the Bean:
package com.art;
Then compiled it and copied the .class file to CATALINA_HOME\webapps\art\WEB-INF\classes\com\art

On full keyboards with a numeric keypad, the key above the right shift is "return" & the one on the numeric section is "enter." On a Mac (or Apple IIgs ) they do have separate functions. On the "mini" keyboards, both names are on the same key, but "enter" is written in smaller letters. I'll have to check to see how that works on another Mac later today.

IPhone 5 with Keynote remote App will not work via Bluetooth.

So what's the point of buying & using Keynote if I can't use the App sold by Apple to control the presentation on my laptop via Bluetooth? I wasted nearly a half hour trying to configure this to work only to find that apparently Bluetooth on the iPhone 5 (and 4) won't connect to a laptop? ***?
Seriously useless and incredibly frustrating. Shame Apple, shame.

Add to that the fact that the computer and phone go through the excercise of exchanging a code... The computer says "You're connected" and then the Phone just keeps searching. Inexcusable.

Been burning with iDVD-but it has stopped working

I have been burning with iDVD for 2 years now. I have a G4 powerbook 12inch but now my movies are not burning. They will get half way there and then when it gets to the finalization stage there will be some kind of message about the media or 0.1 or something. Is there anything I can do to quickly combat the problem; I took it to an Apple specialist and he said it needs to be sent in to be checked out. My roommate has an ibook-is there anyway that I can hook my labtop to her's and burn from her labtop. Any help would be appreciated...I will be upgrading my labtop but do not have the funds to tackle the expenses involved right now. Thanks!

My standard list of things to do first...
Run Cache Out X (free download) to clear all system and application caches.
Run MacJanitor (free download) to do all the Unix Cron Maintenance scripts.
Run Disk Utility (Applications -> Utilities) and repair disk permissions on your start up drive (typically your internal drive). Also verify any other drives mounted on the system.
Run Preferential Treatment (free download) to check for corrupt/damaged application and system preference files.
Reboot your Mac.
If you still can not get it to run correctly, next thing to try is to throw out the iDVD preference file. If it still doesn't work, then I would suggest you reinstall iDVD.

Sorry, but according to Apple, iTunes Store: All Sales Are Final
You can avoid accidental purchases.
From the iTunes menu bar click iTunes / Preferences then select the Parental tab.
Select: iTunes Store
Click OK.
