Sorry to say that Apple isn't the best choice in that department as they are primarily a consumer products company, they don't cater to business needs with their offerings.
Phill Scheiler actually said they are interested in the 50% share of the consumer market.
Apple has discontinued their X-Server and now OS X server is really just a hobbyist pursuit, not a serious business solution. The Mac Pro hasn't been updated in ages.
Mac's can be used on Windows, Unix and Linux servers, but on that side of things it's best to use the services of a local server technician. Linux costs nothing for the licenses and is very secure and highly configurable.
You also can go Red Hat Linux which is a commercial version of Linux which requires licenses, but you get the better security and reliability plus business support.
All I can suggest is evaluate your local offerings from many of those type local server business services in you area and go from there. You'll likely be a mixed shop for quite some time or perhaps forever as some won't give up Windows like some won't give up their Mac's.
Also Mac's are not very cost effective anymore, Apple changes the operating system annually which require new software/paid upgrades, Windows 7 will last another decade and offer desktop models that parts can be exchangesd or replaced in house, unlike Mac's which one has to bring it in and AppleCare expires in three years.
So buisnesss and profit speaking Windows is pretty good, but if your like Google who has a big bank account then replacing Mac's every couple of years is nothing.

Mine is an old IPod, 30 GB, Mod: A1136. I can´t find reference on the IPod page to download its manual or do an update on it. Can anyone please help?

If you are trying to update your iPod, then all you need to do is have the latest version of iTunes installed and plug it in. It will check of any updates if they are available and update your iPod. I have also provided the User Guide for your model of iPod as well.

Dear Brian:
Create a Play List in iTunes.
Control-Click and open "Export" in the highlighted Playlist in iTunes.
With "Export" opened:
1. Click on "Format" and choose "M3U";
2. In "Save As" name your "WhatEverNamePlaylist.m3u"; and
3. In "Where" tell the program where to send your "WhatEverNamePlaylist.m3u".
You are done creating the Playlist.m3u in iTunes.
Open "Subsonic Web Page".
Left hand column open "Import playlist".
In "Import playlist" click "Choose File" and open the "WhatEverNamePlaylist.m3u"; you created in iTunes.
The "WhatEverNamePlaylist.m3u" should now occupy the space between "Choose File" and "OK".
Click "OK".
The file should now be in the "Playlist" on the left. -

What can I try if the store's Advanced Search strikes out trying to find the song I want?
Perhaps the song is not available in MP3 format, or isn't available in the iTunes Store, or simply not available in your country. (A Norwegian band's first album from the 1980s became available in MP3 format only in April 2012; an example that not everything is automatically is available in MP3 as soon as possible.)
... and before any wag says, or even thinks "it", yes - the Norwegian band's album is very good! (Still waiting for their second album, from 1982, though!)
You may be surprised at how often a song or album is not available because of "contractual problems" - in other words, someone's being greedy, difficult, or both. (Another album I like, from a UK band of the 70's, was unavailable for a long time because - and I'm quoting the band's leader - "the copyright owner wanted too much money for the album to be on CD.")
You could try looking for the song in other stores. If it's not yet available anyhwere, you'll just have to be patient. You could try contacting the band via any websites they have, and asking them about it's availability. What's the song? Perhaps I (or soemoen else) might be able to confirm it's availability on MP3 from another source. -
I'm trying to read a Passport external hard drive to no avail. I've read it before (18 mos ago) but can't seem to bring it up. It's connected via USB 2, it whirrs and shows a light when connected, then is dark/quiet. I can't find the icon anywhere in my MAC system. How do I read it?
Do you have another computer to test with? Windows or Mac... just interested if the drive is readable by any system.

I'm using a first generation iPad that's running iOS 421. Need to update to 6.1 but am not being prompted by iPad and cannot locate in app store. How do I fix this?
iOS upadates are NOT in the App Store. Also, 1st gen iPads do not run iOS 6. 5.1.1 is the most recent version for that model.
You will need to connect the iPad to a computer running itunes in order to update form anything prior to 5.0. Update over WiFi wasn't available until 5.0. -
I know it's been posted, but can't find podcast in the store

I have that site to view the podcast. But I just went to iTS and could not find the podcast. I had a colleague try on their computer and they could not find it either.
I am using iWeb to produce the podcast. I am new to this, when I submitted the podcast it had my name listed (so I thought). I have not been able to connect to the store to update, restore, download apps, or anything . I just get a connection error. I have turned off my firewall, added all the apple locations to my trusted sites, deleted the original dial up connection, and nothing seems to work. Does anyone know if iTunes is looking for that orginal path to the store?

Actually, dchristie, your solution didn't help at all. If I wanted to use IE, I wouldn't have installed Firefox. IE is a good browser, but doesn't have features Firefox has. Also, when Firefox crashes windows can kill it and you can restart it no problem. When IE crashes, since it is so tightly integrated into windows, windows itself becomes unstable and you have to reboot.
