If you want to solve your problems, unjailbreak. And don't do it again, because jailbreaking causes problems as you read about in that article. You can try Recovery Mode: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1808

When trying to do a recover and update an old iPod touch, "unknown error" occurs and nothing happens. I have followed all the trouble shooting suggestions but nothing works. Ideas?

Welcome to the Support Communities! I'm not sure from your post what steps you have tried, but it sounds like you may need to use recovery mode to address the issue with your unresponsive iPod touch.

What does this mean? I have an iPod shuffle 4th gen but its not detected in itunes... it can only be seen in the device manager, but I can't see it on the task bar. Can anyone please help me?I have same error except that i get it even when my phone is not connected.

I keep getting this error message "The iTunes Library file cannot be saved. An unknown error occurred (-50)" I'm not at all technical, so a simple response would be appreciated. I have already downlaoded the latest iTunes software and reinstalled it but the problem remains and I am unable to add additonal music to my library.

If your webcam is powered by USB, make sure it is attached directly to your Mac and not a USB hub. In my case, I had my Rocketfish webcam attached to a peripheral USB hub and it wasn't drawing enough power to operate at capacity. Therefore, Facetime was quitting on me and giving me that exact error message. Once I attached the webcam directly to my Mac USB port, problem solved. Hope that helps.

My Ipod and Ipod touch both sync and update latest CD music added to Itunes, however when I connect my Iphone it wont sync my most recent CD addition to iTunes?
I have my iTunes settings to prevent my iPod from synching automatically.
Open iTunes (without the iPod Touch connected) , go to "iTunes"--->"Preferences"--->"Devices", select the box that says "Prevent iPods, iPhones, and iPads from synching automatically", select "OK".
I would then close iTunes and then reopen it. Verify that the settings you just changed are intact.
Log into the iTunes store and update any Apps that you may have purchased.
Connect the iPod Touch via USB with iTunes open. You will see the icon on the left side under "Devices" as normal, however it will not automatically sync.
Click on the "Device" in iTunes and from there you can manually adjust all the items you want to sync and then select sync when you are ready.
I sync mine this way because I feel it gives me more control over the syncing process. Also, I always log into the iTunes store first, check for updates to my Apps and then connect the iPod to manually sync.
So, to me, I guess that perhaps is a way to "force" the sync but in a controlled manner.

Place the iOS device in Recovery Mode and then connect to your computer and restore via iTunes. The iPod will be erased.
