HT3986 Can I install windows 7 on my mac book pro via a download or must it be done via a cd/DVD drive?

I was told I may need to buy a hard copy of windows 7 and install it on my new mac book pro13 using Bootcamp via an external cd drive

You should try asking in the Boot Camp forum where the Boot Camp gurus hang out. Your issue has been discussed there many times.

Can I instal Lightroom on my two mac book pro?

Apple decision to remove iDVD will deter me from recommending Mac to fellow Windows users.
Many other Mac users feel the same way.

Now that my newly bought Mac does not provided a avenue for me to burnt DVDs, I am
    really disappointed.
If you are still within your 15 day return period.  Call Apple they will sent out iDVD at no charge.  (There are no realistic substitutes.)
Nicely explain that you may return the computer without iDVD. That usually does the trick.  You MUST speak to a senior advisor to get a free copy. The first tier people cannot do it.

If that doesn't work you can purchase iLife 11  (includes iDVD) on disk.
IDVD is a wonderful piece of software and well worth the low cost of $40.

Do you really need more?  OS X comes with quite a few already: Gungseo, HeadlineA, Nanum Brush, Nanum Gothic, NanumMyungjo, Nanum Pen, PCMyungjo, PilGi, AppleGothic, AppleMyungjo
If so, just do a google search for korean unicode fonts.

can't open any apps in i-tunes on my mac book pro that i downloaded from the cloud

Please read this whole message before doing anything.
This procedure is a diagnostic test. It’s unlikely to solve your problem. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
The purpose of the test is to determine whether the problem is caused by third-party software that loads automatically at startup or login, or by a peripheral device.
Disconnect all wired peripherals except those needed for the test, and remove all aftermarket expansion cards. Boot in safe mode and log in to the account with the problem. Note: If FileVault is enabled, or if a firmware password is set, or if the boot volume is a software RAID, you can’t do this. Ask for further instructions.
Safe mode is much slower to boot and run than normal, and some things won’t work at all, including sound output andWi-Fi on certain iMacs. The next normal boot may also be somewhat slow.
The login screen appears even if you usually log in automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin. Test while in safe mode. Same problem? After testing, reboot as usual (i.e., not in safe mode) and verify that you still have the problem. Post the results of the test.

  • How do  I Install Windows 7 on Mac Book Pro via a Bootable USB Drive

    Hi Guys,
I have a Mac Book Pro 13 inch, Early 2011 Processor  2.3 GHz Intel Core i5 (I initially had OS 10.5.8 which I upgraded to OSX 10.9.4 a few months ago).
When purchased it, I installed Windows via Super Drive (that being the only time i ever used the super drive). My Windows got corrupted for some reason 2 months ago. Hence, I removed the windows via Bootcamp to perform a fresh install. I discovered my Super Drive was no longer working.
Thereon I have been trying to install Windows via a bootable USB Drive but am failing to do so. After going through several forums, I have reached the following stage.
    1. Created Bootable Windows USB Drive using Windows USB (http://www.wikihow.com/Create-a-Bootable-Windows-7-or-Vista-USB-Drive). Have used this USB drive to install windows on a DELL Computer
    2. Bootcamp wasnt creating a partition for windows since no Windows Installation disc was being detected in super drive. (Solved it by downloading Toast Titanium and loading the .iso file on a virtual drive).
    3. Boot menu was initially not detecting external drive, so installed rEFIt - An EFI Boot Menu and Toolkit. Now it is detecting the USB Drive.
Now when I boot from this device, it get a black screen with the message "No bootable device - Insert Boot Disk"
Request someone to please help me install windows as some softwares which I work with are windows based.

So my understanding is that my Boot Camp Assistant (BCA), since it does not allow USB installer, it sets NVRAM to boot from Optical Drive. Right?
    Yes.
So can I change it or update it to another BCA version which supports the same??
All BCA versions drive the logic based on the Mac Model Identifier. Unfortunately there is no real workaround. .

  • I can't install any Blizzard games new Mac Book Pro retina.

I just purchased a new 15" mac book pro retina display. I am trying to install any blizzard game just to test out the performance but am encountering a problem. When i unzip the setup files they look like it is going to start installing and then just closes, and goes no further. I have checked on the blizzard forms, and can not find anyone with the same problem. (A similar problem when someone is using a second party unzipping program, but that is not the case for myself) Anyone have an idea why it would be doing this? I can download the files on my old mac book, and install them no problem what so ever.

I have made some progress.... I can print wirelessly from my printer now, but I can't set the printer itself to be wireless.  I had to move my printer downstairs to where my router is...which is not that convient.   I printed up the page you asked about....and as expected, it says it is off line and there is no IP address.    So now I need to figure out how to make my printer itself wireless.  I did download the HP driver I needed...but I can't access it to do anything else.  It seems l like I am missing a step... or I need to hook up my computer itself to the printer to help get the printer to be wirelss, but I can't hook it up because there is no port for me to do that (no port that looks like a phone jack).  I am guessing I would need a different type of cord, but I am not sure what kind of cord that would be! Ugh!

  • HT1846 If I have installed windows 7 on my mac book pro, but want to install windows 8 when it comes out, how do I do that?

do I simply put the windows 8 disc in my (Early 2011 edition MBP) disc drive when I'm on my windows side and install to that same partition Bootcamp Already wrote?
Or do I have to go through Bootcamp again?

Fair point. If I had a large enough bank account I surely would be running two separate machines. With the only option being one computer for purchase I went with the Mac and windows dual as you can see by this threads title. For my case it was ideal. For you, no, but in my case there was no better option.
I understand that, and have been there but these machines (and I have a lot of Macs, only 4 PC's) are just revenue streams for me, they do various tasks cheaper than a bunch of dedicated hardware, and I can troubleshoot from a remote location far easier than I can with the dedicated stuff. The simple truth is that for me to dedicate a Mac to running one or two Windows programs entails far more cost than a Windows PC, and there is no advantage to offset the extra cost.

  • HT1461 help!  i have installed windows 7 on my mac book pro and now it will only open in windows.

How do I get back to osx operating system?  The instructions I found said I should go to my windows system tray and select boot camp control panel but it is not there.

You have not installed the Windows drivers required for your computer. You must install them before the control panel is available.
For now you can return to OS X as follows:
    Boot Using OPTION key:
      1. Restart the computer.
      2. Immediately after the chime press and hold down the
          "OPTION" key.
      3. Release the key when the boot manager appears.
      4. Select the OS X disc.
      5. Click on the arrow button below the icon.

  • Can I install 10.8 on a mac book pro purchased with 10.9?

A few weeks ago I bought a mac book pro with 10.9 preinstalled on it.
I wish now to revert to 10.8 to solve some backward compatibility problems. Is that possible? I tried to prepare a bootable USB but unfortunately the mac does not want to boot on it....
What is the easiest procedure to revert to a previous OS? Do I have to uninstall 10.9 before I try to boot on the usb?
    Kind Regards,

  • Can i install mac osx back again after installing windows 7 on my mac book a1181?

i have apple mac book a1181 white, but i had problem logging on as it was secured by a password, and i allready lost my recovery dvd, so i installed windows 7 on my mac book a1181 by deleting its partition from GTP to NTFS but i experienced problems after installing windows 7 as sound was not comming as i could not find sound drivers for macintosh, so now i plan again to restore my apple macbook a1181 back by reinstalling mac osx 10.5.8, how can i again install mac osx on my notebook and is it possible to re-install mac on my notebook? please give me some help.

Insert your OS X install disc and restart holding the C key, hold it down until you see the Apple logo and spinning gear. Choose your language and at the next screen from the top menu bar select Utilities-Disk Utility. Select your internal hard drive, click on the Partition tab and select 1 partition. Click on the Options button and select GUID partition scheme. Click OK. Choose to format the drive as Mac OS Extended Journaled. When Disk Utility is done and your drive is properly partitioned and formatted quit DU and go back to the installer screen and reinstall OS X. When you're up and running run software update a couple times to get everything up to date as far as you can with 10.5.8. Then consider upgrading to OS X 10.6.8 Snow Leopard for $19.99 here http://store.apple.com/us/product/MC573/mac-os-x-106-snow-leopard
