The app may be free to download, but in-app purchases within them need to be paid for - there are a number of apps in the store which you can download for free but which then allow you to purchase extra features/items or to pay to unlock extra levels in games.

My son did purchase some token, In-App (almost $130), and I have to mention that is too easy for a 5 years old boy to buy In-App, after you Download a New App (SKYLANDERS CLOUD PATROL, v1.6.0); for him, because the Account will remain open for couple of minutes.
I know he used $10 of it, or so?!?!

A refund may not be possible since the terms of sale for the iTunes Store state that all sales are final. You can contact the iTunes Store, explain the reason for your request, and ask, though:

It's possible they'll make an exception for you. An exception is more likely if the app is defective in some way or doesn't do what the developer advertised and the developer has been unable or unwilling to help you.

Also you need to go to settings, general, restrictions, and set the restrictions to prevent in app purchases, it will have a passcode on it . -

The app took over $35 from my account and there is no way this was authorized. Please advise on how I can recover these funds.They did the same thing to me on 12/24/11. Apple overcharged me 3 times my purchase amount and have caused my bank account to be overdrawn!
I called my bank to make a statement of unauthorized charges AND filed a complaint with the FTC (Federal Trade Commission). Apple provided no way to contact a live rep and the email reps have been useless...so they left me no other option.
I think they do this to their customers very often. It is extremely dishonest.
I actually posted the above info on this discussion community earlier today...and Apple deleted it! If that isn't an admission of guilt, I don't know what is.
