How can Apple allow you to purchase books on a macbook pro, then not give you the ability to read the book?

Ibooks, as advertised, are for iphone/ipad/ipod touch.
They have never clained it to be for your computer.

Is the movie still buffering? you may have a slow internet connection. Music files require far less bandwidth than movies.

I seem to constantly get confounded by what seems to be the most amazingly unbelievable conundrums with Apple despite having been a champion of the company for years and years. This relates to tethering on iPhone, external Apple hard drives only being usable with MacBook Air, and now this! If anyone is aware of a hack or way around this I would appreciate some guidance. If the albums do appear in the Music app, hold down on the album icons and the X to delete will pop up on the icons. Tap the X to delete the albums.
You don't see a anything in iCloud, you see your previous purchases in the purchased tab of the store that you bought the content in. So you find your music purchases in the purchased tab of the iTunes app on your iPad. Tap on Purchased and look for the albums in the Not on this iPad section - assuming that you are able to delete the albums from the device.

I just upgraded to CC (from LR 5) on Macbook Pro and can no longer import to Network Drive. New version is LR 5.7. Help?

Just like the title says: MBP, retina works great with LR 5 installed from CD. Added CC, upgraded to LR 5.7 and now import "hangs" with no activity. Have been using LR since version 2.
More info: the problem is writing to my network drive (which has been working since LR 2... It seems a Temporary Folder is created with permissions 755 (owner=rw, group=r, others=r),
then nothing more.
Has something changed with respect to LR handling of network drives. This is a Linux CIFS/SMB share (again, been using since LR 2). Catalog is local on my MBP.

This is my post and I'm new, so I may not be providing the answer in the "usual" manner. (Feel free to educate me!)
Solution:
The mounted volume on MacBook is /Volumes/photowork. Notice the lowercase 'p' in photowork. In LR I had selected a mount point
with *uppercase* 'p'. See screen shot. Summary: The already-selected mount point was /Volumes/Photoshop. LR had no complaints. When
I changed the mount point to /Volumes/photowork LR imported as expected.
This only became an issue since the upgrade, as I simply never tinkered with mount points and so on. This archive
server has files back to 2000 on it. Thanks so much to those who responded.

Why can't I read books purchased from itunes on my macbook pro?

I find it very upsetting that books purchased from itunes on a Macbook pro can not be read on a Macbook Pro.

Many MacBook Pro users are professional authors, reseachers, teachers, ... and we need to manage large libraries of copy protected digital material (journals, book collections, protected imagery, ...) , which we directly reference and include (with citations) in our writing and analyses.
Laptops and desktops are the only viable options in terms of screen real estate (multiple monitors needed), application availability (image analytics, serious statistics, real 2D and 3D modeling, ...) high speed storage attachment (the cloud can't handle many needs) and processing horse power. iPads and iPhones are a few generations away from being adequate for many such activities, which Apple had traditionally supported.
This particular oversight by the folks behind the Apple iTunes bookstore business, stands in stark contrast to what used to be our vision of the premier professional creative platfom. I find this deeply dissappointing and inconsiderate of our long term investment in apple technologies.
Asking folks to simply abandon their investment in copy protected ebook material, purchased on iTunes, is just wrong.

Every purchase page for an ebook has a section that says "Requirements". What does that say for your particular book? That should give you the answer to your question. Conversion is normally not possible.
But there are some exceptions. Please provide the Title of the book if you want further help.

Audiobooks are not currently part of the content that can be re-downloaded.
