If you've forgotten the answers to your security questions and you have a rescue email address (which is not the same thing as an alternate email address) set up on your account then you can try going to https://appleid.apple.com/ and click 'Manage your Apple ID' on the right-hand side of that page and log into your account. Then click on 'Password and Security' on the left-hand side of that page and on the right-hand side you might see an option to send security question reset info to your rescue email address.

what do i do when a audio book i purchased is not in purchased menu for re downloading for my account, or why cant i re download the book from iTunes store with out paying for it after support they told me i could.
i tried to re download a purchased audio book after i contacted apple support team for iTunes they said it would be ready for re download or they said id have to re download it from iTunes store i cant remember, so i tried both couldn't re download it from purchased menu and the book id have to re download from iTunes store costs money as if i have never purchased what do i do? I have bought 1 MacbookPor 17, 1 Macbook air, 1 MacbookPro 15 , 2 ipads, 3 iphones, and this iMac27 and 2 of iMAC24 or 20 not sure but I do not recall ever doing what you are telling me in your reply. When you get a extended car warranty, you don't sign up for it.. it is just there and is included in the sale. You don't buy this warranty to use it.. You buy it, in case something happens. Here a perfect iMAC with minimum 100 hour useage has a dead drive. That is not normal and I should not have to even be requesting anything since most MFG offer a 3-5 year warranty on their disc drives and I believe that is probably passed on to Apple regardless if an extended warranty is purchased or not. Customer service dictates a more flexible approach to make sure the lifetime value of a customer is not lost due to some misunderstanding.
I was in the MacStore that I purchased the unit..and they found and pulled the invoice and confirmed
the purchase of it in front of me. I had paid with credit card and fortunately it was there in their system. I do not also recall recieving any box or paper although most everything I ever get remains sealed.. I am not in the habit of opening anything since I have never encountered any serious issues before.
I have used my Macbookpro warranty 1 time and that is all throughout the years I have been investing in Apple equipment.
I just recieved a letter from the store asking me to get the paper to them so they can register it... I don't recall getting any paper actually. But I do have several boxes sealed here.. On this iMAC27, it was a hurry up and get it done thing and I don't remember taking anything extra with it. Regardless, my request does not seem unreasonable.

See if you can get a refund. Other than that you would have to buy them back as audiobooks.

I've bought and downloaded music from itunes, but the ends of almost all my songs are cut off and will not play, how can I fix this? Most of the music cuts off abouthalf way through the song, then it skips to the next one. Itunes also says I have not purchased the album though it is listed under my purchased albums. It's incrediabley frustrating, please help.
go to the itunes store. select more in the bottom right select purchased. then press the cloud icon to DL striaght to the phone. Id use wifi. you can also DL into computer then synv over to phone.

I have downloaded a book from itunes but it wont play. It says it has downloaded and i have checked this against the store.
I've had similar issues. Turning off firewalls seems to help the download to complete properly. Otherwise, I'm not sure what the problem might be.

After installing the new Yosemite OS on my iMac I can no longer send email. I can receive email, but not send. I use gmail and can send email on the gmail (google) site, but not on "mail" on my iMac. Any others with this problem? What should we do?
My gmail, which is correctly configured for Mail with gmail SMTP and Google IMAP, works for awhile on Mail, which I leave open while working on other applications. But several times a day I get msg from Google: "We recently blocked a sign-in attempt to your Google Account" . . . and requiring me to verify my account details, re-enter passwords, confirm security settings (or change them from "disable" to "enable less secure methods" and so on). In Mail I also have tried "taking all accounts online", and re-entering my gmail password inside Mail account settings. These steps successfully re-set comms between gmail and Mail ... for awhile, then it happens again. Enough occurrences over a work day that I just quit Mail and revert to accessing gmail directly. Apple Care advisor and an Apple knowledge base article say that Apple can't deal with this, as gmail is third-party app, and they refer me to gmail, and so far I've found nothing helpful there.
From today I also have several instances of a window saying "Mail has unexpectedly closed" and asking me to Re-open it.
I also use Yahoo mail, which stops working with Mac Mail at the same time as gmail, but I do not receive notices to re-verify from Yahoo.
I recently upgraded from Mavericks to Yosemite. The Mail problem happened occasionally with Mavericks but is far more frequent with Yosemite. -

I can't get rid of the black screen unless I force quit the computer, then it starts ok. Then the process starts all over again.

I'm sorry but I don't understand your question. iTunes the software is a free download. Do you mean you bought a subscription to iTunes Match? If so, what do you mean that your music did not transfer to your second computer. Please describe the issue in as much detail as possible so we can better help you.

I am completely frustrated and angry about how iTunes is supposed to rent or allow purchase of movies. I have not had one movie rental out of several tries that went successfully without having to contact Customer Service and complain. I purchased "Looper" & watched it on my iTV over the holidays, and now it cannot be played on either my Mac Mini or loaded to my iPhone 5.
The movie appears in my iTunes Movie library on my Mac Mini. When I tried dragging it to my iPhone, I got a strange error message that the movie was still "in the cloud" and wasn't available until I download it. I can't see any way to accomplish this. Once I tried moving it the first time to my iPhone, it now won't let me move it again at all.
If I go to the movie on iTunes from my iPhone, I see a "Download" button but the movie won't download since it's > 50 MB. When I go to iTunes from my Mac Mini, it only offers me the choices to rent or buy the movie again.
Just incredibly frustrating. I definitely DO NO RECOMMEND anyone trying to rent or buy movies from iTunes!!!Answers can only be as helpful as the details provided, and none have been given here. What did you do to try to buy or rent something? What happened when you tried? Did you get an error? If so what was it. Just posting "did not work" is not going to get you very far.

Why can I access files using ubuntu live cd but not my mac?

Every since I have upgraded to Lion then to Mountain Lion I have had nothing but trouble with my mac crashing and not being able to repair the harddrive. I use time machine with an external hard drive to back up everything (also using online server to back up things as well).
My issue is that disk utility never works ( ever ) and when I have trouble the hard drive and my external hard drive always show up grayed out and disk utility says the disk is broken and cannot be repaired. Which the disk are fine because I can access them using a ubuntu live cd no problem.
My main question is how is this not being addressed by apple? This is clearly a bug - there is nothing wrong with my external harddrive or my macs hardrive - yet when I restart my mac I fear it will never start again(in its current state) and the disk utility just doesn't work the only answers I ever get is the hard drive is bad (which is not the case being I can access it with the ubuntu - or even reinstall everything and it works fine etc...)
There is some major bugs and I can say I never had these problems losing my data with a windows machine (though I am not a big windows fan). Apple why doesn't the disk utility work?
Also why when I update my mac and the mac restarts itself does it not eject my external hardrive - also why if you don't eject the harddrive it ruins the data on the hard drive or at least makes it grayed out or corrupt in my mac - but I can copy the files in ubuntu and put them back then it works just fine? These are serious issues and I am really shocked that the mac community would stand for this kind of thing - I am not the only one with these issues I see thousands of others with the same issues so when are they going to be fixed?
If what I am saying is unclear - just google mac hardrive cannot be repaired - and set the time for the last month you will see. Also to those who have these troubles simply use a ubuntu live cd - copy all your files to the home folder then place them back to where the reside and mac will reconize them again - worked every time for me so far no thanks to disk utility.Your booting off a Ubuntu disk which has it's own operating system on it and on another medium that is free of issues, unlike your current hard drive running OS X 10.8.
I really don't advise you directly installing Linux on a Mac as it's much more complicated that it appears. Also I don't advise you using Linux anything to tinker with a Mac unless you really really know what your doing.
Since your Mac's software is broken you don't know currently and shouldn't be using Linux as a band-aid solution to your problem.
My suggestion is you FIX your primary boot drive.
disk utility says the disk is broken and cannot be repaired
This calls for a complete zero erase and install of the affected area, if it's just the Macintosh HD partition then fine, it's a hold command r boot into Recovery HD and use Disk Utiltiy there to Erase with the middle secure erase feature (important) and then a reinstall of OS X 10.8 from Apple's servers over a fast Ethernet connection.
If your GUID partition table or Recovery HD is affected, then you need to command option r boot into Internet Recovery and select the entire hard drive for the same zero/middle erase proceedure, unless you have a older MacBook Pro then you need to use option key boot off the 10.6 disks and use the Secure Erase/ Zero on the entire drive, install 10.6, then update to 10.6.8, then AppStore upgrade to 10.8 again.
You need to only restore user files into same named accounts from a Storage Drive backup, do not use Migration or Setup assistant as your TimeMachine drive data is likely corrupted. This means all new softwre installs from original sources as well.

Windows and Linux also has to "safely remove hardware" or "unmount" before ejecting a drive as well or it corrupts the data.
I guess this feature came about so one can disconnect a drive without having to physically remove it and wear out the ports doing so.
