Good. In Network Preferences/Advanced/TCPIP is Using DHCP selected for Configure IPv4? Configure IPv6 should be set to Off, unless you have been told otherwise by your ISP.

  • PS downloaded via CC seemed to download fine but won't work. Won't even open a file/document.

    I recently got a new computer and I have CC so I downloaded the CC app and downloaded LR and PS. LR runs/works fine. PS seemed to download ok but won't even open a new file:picture. I am very frustrated as I have spoken with CC tech support and they were of no help, in fact that didn't even have a clue how to navigate Windows 8! I have been working on this for a week and now very behind on my editing. Not sure who to call or what to do. Please help!! Thank you!!!

    What does the crash report say about the name of the faulting module?
    Yes, crashes like that are usually due to the video card driver. (though I was guessing from the original description that the image was just not drawing)
    Have you tried disabling GPU drawing in Photoshop before opening a document?
    Have you updated your video card driver from the GPU maker's website?

    Well I was able to obtain a work around download of Flash and it installed fine but Firefox tells me it needs updating so I go out, thinking I'm "IN" finally to update it and I get that issue of not being able to get the update for it.  It's a regular laptop, not a touch screen or one of those new fangled ones for todays world.  In fact it's a refurb so it's probably origin date was a year or so ago before all this MS stuff took off fully.  So not understanding why I'm feeling like I'm being BLOCKED from getting the updated Flash I need and desire.  If I click on the little "X" and tell it to ignore the warning the vid will play just fine but don't want to have to do that every time.  Must be a better way. 
    Again, I'm sorry for posting in the wrong forum, getting this posted in the Flash forum was my desire but the way Adobe has this set up I just couldn't figure it out.  I belong to ALLOT of forums and most are pretty straight forward but this one is confusing!

  • Ethernet Through STB Suddenly Started Working, but now it's not

    So I've read a lot of posts about this on here and I know it's not supposed to work, but those posts are all about 4/5 years old and for the last few days I've been getting a successful wired connection from the ethernet jack on the back of my STB to my Vizio TV. I recently renovated my living room and when I hooked everything up I plugged in the ethernet cord on a whim and it just randomly started working. It wasn't a fast connection, the connection test on the TV was saying ~4/5 Mbps, but it was fast enough to stream some episodes on Netflix in HD no problem.
    My problem is that today it has stopped working again and now that I know it CAN happen I really want to get it working again. Since it worked temporarily, I'm thinking there must have been some DHCP settings that were set just right. I've tried manually adjusting IP settings on the TV and router, but I can't seem to get it working again.  I'm hoping someone here with more specific knowledge can help me
    Here's my config:
    ONT -> Coax -> Splitter -> Quantum Gateway

    And before you ask, yes I'm sure that it was working via ethernet and not Wifi. I quadruple checked it, and ever disabled the WiFi just to be sure. So anyone have any thoughts on settings I could mess with?

    That's what I thought, especially after having tried it before on my last STB and reading posts saying it wasn't supposed to. I did read some documentation from Motorola on the box itself and it's apparently supported, but there's an asterisk next to it saying something to the affect of "Dependent on software." It specifically states that the box supports DHCP and self assigns it's own IP address and a range of IP addresses that it can assign, I think I just need to figure out what it's assigning to itself so I can use that as Gateway and then try to figure out what range it's assigning dynamnically. Since there's only 1 thing connected it will most likely end up being the first number in that range and rarely increment.  I haven't been able to get it to work again (frankly I haven't put too much effort into it since my TV already has wifi so I don't exactly need this), but I'm going to try recreating the circumstances around when it worked and see if I can copy the settings while it's working. The box had been off and unplugged for several days and seemed to have lost most of it's settings temporarily, so Im betting that had something to do with it.

    Expanding on what deggie said, with an iPad 1 the app you're using must support video out. Only the iPad 2 can mirror the screen. The apps included with the iPad that output to external monitors are given here:

    What happens when you try to update? That is the missing element here? Without knowing what you are experiencing, it's really difficult to suggest what to do. I will go on the assumption that you are seeing the "waiting" icons. If that's the case, this is my standard response that includes quite a number of things to try.
    Even if it is not the "waiting" icons issue, one of these suggestions might help anyway.
    1. Tap the "waiting" icon and see if you can pause it. If it does pause, then tap it again and see if it will resume. If that works, repeat the same steps for each "waiting" icon.
    2. Reboot the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons.
    3. Make sure that you do not have a stalled download in iTunes - if you have a download in there that did not finish, complete that one first.
    4. If that doesn't work - sign out of your account, restart the iPad and then sign in again.
    Settings>iTunes & App Store>Apple ID. Tap your ID and sign out. Restart the iPad by holding down on the sleep button until the red slider appears and then slide to shut off. To power up hold the sleep button until the Apple logo appears and let go of the button.
    Go back to Settings>iTunes & App Store>Sign in and then try to update again. Tap one waiting icon only if necessary to start the download stream.
    5. You can also try deleting the waiting icons - tap and hold down on an icon until it wiggles - the tap the X on the icon to delete it. Then try to download again. Apps may also be able to be deleted in Settings>General>Usage>Storage if you cannot get the X to pop up on the icon.
    6. You can try resetting all settings. Settings>General>Reset>Reset All Settings. You will have to enter all of your device settings again.... All of the settings in the settings app will have to be re-entered.
    7. If all else fails, download the updates or the apps in iTunes on your computer and then sync the content to your iPad.

  • Printer connected, printer works, but won't print from Mac

    I'm helping someone with a printer problem, and I have a mystery on my hands.
    The printer is connected (directly), shows up in the printer list, can print a test page, but won't print any document from this computer (it's fine from my laptop).
    It's a Mid-2011 Mini, 2.3Ghz, running 10.7.5. The printer is an Epson WF-2540.
    This is a USB printer, connected directly to their Mac.
    In "Settings", when you select Print/FAX and print a "Test Page" - Success! This is a process that invokes the Epson Driver directly [and bypasses the MAC print queuing mechanism]
    When "Printing" from within any application (firefox, TextEdit, winders...)   The job starts to queue, but errors before engaging the printer.
    R & R the Epson Drivers,  Clear the Printer "stuff" on the Mac, Reinstall drivers from the Epson website, Mac wants to update the "newest" Epson Drivers (kinda' funny when I think about it...).
    Still errors.
    I attached directly to a USB port on my MacBook Pro.  Download drivers, etc..  Works like a champ!
    We have deleted the printer from System Prefs, rebooted, and added it back.
    We have even gone into Terminal and...
    sudo bash
    cd /etc/cups/ppd
    ls
    found EPSON_WF_2540_Series.ppd
    cp * /var/tmp/
    ls /var/tmp/*.ppd
    rm /etc/cups/ppd/*
    Still doesn't work.

    In System Preferences>Fax & Print, Right click or Control+click on the Printers list Sidebar, choose Reset Printing System.
    if you hold option and click the "-" tab it resets the printing system.

  • Instant Alpha is working but won't save

    Instant alpha appears to work but then when I save (as a PNG) it comes up as black background and transparency is gone (checked multiple times & uploaded to multiple places). What am I doing wrong here? It has worked in the past for me.

    I would try switching your Payment Method to "none" and then signing out of your account completely (Store menu > Sign Out). Then, sign back in and go to enter your CC info again. You might want to contact your financial institution to see if they've switched your billing address over in their systems yet. If they goofed something, it might explain why iTunes is rejecting your info.

  • G4 15" seems to work, but won't boot Install CD or run Hardware Test

    Hello all, I have an odd one here. I have a 15" Powerbook G4 1.67Ghz with Tiger 10.4.10 that works generally OK, but I want to run Repair Disk on it because Console keeps popping up with what seem to be disk-related problems.
    When I boot with Install CD 1, the process hangs at an empty blue screen and the CD stops. When I try to run Apple Hardware Test, I get a message that "apple hardware test does not support this machine", even though the Install CD says PowerBook G4 and OS X 10.4.
    I've tried swapping the RAM out but it didn't help. What do you think - motherboard issue?
    Here are some of the Console messages - perhaps they are actually program execution errors rather than file system errors.

    That implies you have a .plist problem.
    Run Disk Utility, select your hard drive in the left pane, and Repair Permissions from the right pane.
    Do that a few times until there are no errors reported, update to 10.4.11, and repair permissions again.

  • HT3728 Ethernet cable ran to iMac works, but doesn't when plugged into TimeCapsule

       Need help!!!    Time Capsule will not work.  Continue to get the blinking amber light, even after a soft and hard reset.  I tried to reset the modem and that did nothing to help the problem.  I then plugged the ethernet cable into computer and it works fine (thus how I am online posting this). 
       Any help or suggestions please let me know.

    I guess you are using cable modem..??
    You cannot change over clients without turning off the modem for a length of time that allows the ISP equipment to reset the MAC address of the device that captures the IP.
    It can sometimes take, 15min off or even overnight for the modem to reset.
    When it turns back on.. you must have only the TC connected to it.. the first device turned on will capture the IP.
    So make sure the TC is plugged into modem.. it must be from WAN port.. (next to USB).
    Power up the modem after the off time.. then after 2min power up the TC.
    If your modem is not cable tell us.
    If this doesn't work tell us precisely the modem make and model, and your ISP.

  • I have updated the squite.places file to prevent Firefox from hanging constantly. This seems to have worked but now I can't see the comments on news websites.

    Over the last few days Mozilla Firefox has been hanging every few seconds. I updated the squite.places file as instructed which seems to have corrected the problem, however it has had a side effect. I can no longer see the comments on newspaper sites, e.g. The Times, the Independent both of which I believe use Disqus. Does anyone know how to fix this?

    You can try these steps in case of issues with web pages:
    You can reload web page(s) and bypass the cache to refresh possibly outdated or corrupted files.
    *Hold down the Shift key and left-click the Reload button
    *Press "Ctrl + F5" or press "Ctrl + Shift + R" (Windows,Linux)
    *Press "Command + Shift + R" (Mac)
    Clear the cache and remove cookies only from websites that cause problems.
    "Clear the Cache":
    *Firefox/Tools > Options > Advanced > Network > Cached Web Content: "Clear Now"
    "Remove Cookies" from sites causing problems:
    *Firefox/Tools > Options > Privacy > "Use custom settings for history" > Cookies: "Show Cookies"
