HT4461 If the Mac App Store thinks I've already installed (an updated Pages 5.0) application when in fact I'm still running Pages 4.3, how can I redownload it?

Hi! a few days ago I updated to Maverick and updated several other programs as well, however Pages 5.0 somehow didn't install, so I'm running 4.3. The App Store thinks I have already installed it. The FAQs suggest I can redownload, they do not indicate how. How?
Thanks!

The older iWorks apps are in an iWorks folder the new apps are loose in the Applications folder. Are you sure the new Pages isn't there?
You can redownload apps from the Purchases pane after signing into your account.

  • About The Mac App Store?

About The Mac App Store? is it doing well in Business, like do a lot of people go on it & buy & download Free Apps? cause I Worry what if it will be like if we had no Mac App Store like we used to? then I Would never be able to really find anything good if Apple did not come up with Something Papular to find Games Apps & other apps, I Go on Mac App Store & i look at Reviews but it is not up to today's date, very few of them have up to today's dat Reviews & Some don't even have any Reviews & some only have 1 Review in there that is up to date, it looks like Apple Mac App Store is Dead? or there just not Accepting Reviews?, so is The Mac App Store doing well? or is it ready to go out of Business? I Love The Mac App Store, I do buy things on there, last thing I Bought was FlatOut 2 & I Left a Review, if there was No Mac App Store then it will be Hard to find App's, they made The Mac App Store to find Apps more easy if we go back the other way then it would be hard to find Apps & that would suck, like it used to, we had to go through a Whole List to find something, that was the old way around I do have a Suggestion, I think they should make the Mac App Store for PC Microsoft Computers & name it The PC App Store even though i'll never go back to Microsoft PC Computers, i'm sticking with Apple iMac Computers from now on, so what are your Opinion on The Mac App Store? I Never have any trouble at all on My 2009 24inch Apple iMac computer, all The Apps that I Buy on The Mac App Store work Excellent  on My Machine & The Mac App Store works Excellent as well, I buy a lot of Car Racing Games on The Mac App Store & Some other Apps I Buy on The Mac App Store are not all Up To Date, I check MacUpdate they say a New version is Available but The Mac App Store has the low version on some Apps, I see there falling behind on some things, so what's your opinion on The Mac App Store? & they don't Update there Twitter page often? but I see there still putting New Apps on The Mac App Store every day, I Hope things don't go back the old way again? just wondering what will happen in the future for The Mac App Store?

If you're a developer with proper access, you can read this document: http://developer.apple.com/devcenter/mac/checklist/
Title: "Get your mac apps ready for the mac app store"
It covers all that's needed to modify in your application's package in order to submit it and have it work with the Mac App Store. Apple's new framework (similar to an API) for the app store is the "AppKit" framework.

  • HT1444 How to install a new OS without using the Mac App Store

I am running OS 10.5.8 on a refurbished Macbook Pro. I am not running an OS early enough to be able to use the Mac App Store. Everytime I go under Software Update it says everything is up to date. I would like to put the latest OS on this computer, but must install 10.6 first (apparently)?? My only question is how?

Welcome to the Apple Support Communities
To have the App Store, you need Mac OS X Snow Leopard, and you can't get it from Software Update because it's a paid upgrade. Buy it from the Apple Online Store > http://store.apple.com/us/product/MC573/mac-os-x-106-snow-leopard
Then, make a backup of your files with Time Machine and/or Carbon Copy Cloner, insert the DVD and follow the steps to upgrade to Snow Leopard. After upgrading, open  > Software Update to install 10.6.8, so you will get the App Store.
To upgrade to OS X Mountain Lion, just open the App Store and purchase it. Check that your applications are compatible > http://www.roaringapps.com When it finishes downloading, just follow the steps to upgrade to Mountain Lion. You can check the OS X Mountain Lion requirements > http://www.apple.com/osx/specs

  • I Deleted the mac app store because of error 4 and i cant download it with software update

I Deleted the mac app store because it showed error 4 and I cant download it with software update.

I guess you have no time-machine or carbon copy cloner backup at hand.. then you will go a manual way.
Mac AppStore is included in 10.6.6 first and a updated better version ( the latest ) is in 10.6.7, so I focus on the later :
Use the shareware ( works without paying , nag screen only ) called "pacifist" . Locate the 10.6.7 update package on your harddisk, mount the dmg, go inside and right-click the installer package, it wil offer you top open it with pacifist instead of Apples OS installer.
Inside pacifist you can see the various sub-packages, one item is the Mac App Store, select it and choose "install to default location" from pacifists menu.
This way you bypass the OS' logic that it is already up to date and will find AppStore in your Applications folder.
Note that this scenario is totally unsupported by Apple of course and you do it on your own risk.
The official way if you have messed up the OS and have removed parts of it, would be to wipe and reload OSX plus its updates to be back..

  • Weird issue with software updates in the Mac App Store

The Mac App Store routinely tells me that I have updates available, even though those are the same updates I successfully installed two days earlier. This has been happening consistently for about a month. (I'm on Snow Leopard)

That's only applies to systems that you own or control. In this case as it is your sisters machine you don;t own or control it.
Having said that if you did use your copy of ML on her machine it would be tied into your Apple ID. So anytime the system needed to be upgraded (or restored in the case of a mishap) she would need to use your Apple ID.
How well do you trust her?

  • Can I add my existing, licensed apps to my list of 'Purchases' on the Mac App Store so I don't have to buy them twice?

    Hello,
I was wondering if I could add my existing, licensed apps to the list of app 'Purchases' that I have on the Mac App Store.
The reason for this is that I recently suffered the inevitable hard disk failure and I had to rebuild my MacBook Pro from scratch (with the help of Time Machine and Migration Assistant, etc.). As usual, I hadn't really maintained my MBP for quite a while and things sort of got away from me, in terms of data, apps, preferences, permissions, users (my personal account, my wife's account, my old work account...), etc.
So I wanted to rebuild my MBP on a clean slate. I like having the ability to quickly download and install just the right apps that I "really" need from MAS safe in the knowledge that:
they are there (assuming they're still available through MAS) with a full description of what they do and when I bought them, etc.
they are going to be in the most up-to-date version,
I'll be able to download and install them cleanly with no corruption from years of multiple user preference changes and permissions, etc.
that they will be managed and maintained (updated) through the same mechanism,
    so much more.
The benefits of having apps from MAS are easy to see when compared to going through my downloads folder and emails looking for the latest installers, working out what they're for in the first place, finding the license key in some forgotten e-mail, etc.
I am aware that I can build a clean machine and then restore just the right apps in their most up-to-date version as I had them on my backups.  The one thing to say about that is that the apps may have been used and abused once too many times and their preferences, etc. may not be in the most desirable form. It's just not as elegant as the MAS solution.
I realise that not all apps, app versions, or app vendors, are available through MAS. But I still have a fair few apps currently available on MAS that were bought prior to the existence of MAS, prior to them becoming available on MAS, or were bought directly for some other reason (by mistake).
So I wondered if there was any way I could convert my legitimate licenses from simply a direct purchase to one through MAS and have those apps listed under my 'Purchases' list. It would reduce the amount of work I'd have to do, not only to rebuild my machine but also to maintain it.
I cannot find any reference or way of having this work the way I would like it to. But I was hoping that some Apple guru would enlighten me.
I have thought about the possible mechanisms something like this would need to work and I must admit I see some not insurmountable issues (not as much technical as legal or possibly logistical). I realise that MAS is a service in its own right and as such has its own Terms, Conditions and Licensing that may not be compatible with the licenses that I already have. I also realise that when I purchase an app from MAS that I'm paying for the entire service including updates and use on multiple machines that I may own, etc. Obviously I do not want to pay the full purchase cost again for the same app twice, but I am willing to pay a small conversion/upgrade fee to have it managed as part of my 'Purchases' on MAS.  Think of it in the same terms as iTunes works.  I can purchase music, etc. but I can also add my own CD collection and have it managed by iTunes and store it in the cloud should anything go wrong with my local machine, etc.
So if this is currently not possible, then for the Apple MAS product managers out there, consider this as a suggestion/feedback.  I'd be happy to discuss my thoughts in more detail about not only how to achieve this for now but also for the future when you may add existing applications to MAS that people may have previously bought direct and would like to have managed through MAS going forward. The benefits to the users are hopefully clear, but from Apple's perspective I hope that you can see the advantages too, commercially, etc.
PS: I apologise for the wordiness of my query and overuse of 'etc.', etc.

Can I add my existing, licensed apps to my list of 'Purchases' on the Mac App Store so I don't have to buy them twice?
No. Only apps purchased from the App Store can be re downloaded for free including updates.

  • How can i gift an app in the mac app store ?

hi,, I see that i can gift an app in the ios store, but cannot do the same in the mac app store ? ... is this feature not available yet ?. if not, when will it be available ?

You can use iTunes gift cards in the App Store. I don't think Apple supports "gifting" of apps as yet and we wouldn't know when they may do this in the future. This is a user to user forum, not Apple.

  • How can I login to the Mac App Store?

My wife cannot login to the Mac App Store on her MacBook Pro.  This first happened under Snow Leopard and is now happening under Lion.  I have googled extensively for a solution, but not yet found one that lasts long term.  We have binned a Networkinterfaces.plist a few times and this has given us temporary access to the App Store, but now it's lost it again and we can't even find the plist to bin it!
The error message we get when trying to login to the Mac App Store is, "your device or computer could not be verified".
Any help will be much appreciated.

Thanks for that suggestion. I'll remember it for next time.  We seem to have got temporary reprieve, which we think might be due to resolving a conflict between iCal and MobileMe.

  • Getting Error Message when trying to use Software Update in the Mac App Store...

    Hello,
I was wondering if someone knows what this error message in the Mac App Store means. I am trying to run Software Update by clicking in the Apple Menu however, I am not able to see my available updates and instead get the following message on the Mac App Store:
I have tried to fix the error by deleting both the Mac App Store Caches and plist files in the user library and made sure that I am properly logged into the Mac App Store with my personal Apple ID.
    What else can I do?

    aayushp wrote:
I've been having the same issue. It was all fine until yesterday when I was searching for updates.
Since when have you been seeing this error message?
Last time I checked for an update was about 2 weeks ago and there were no errors reported. However, today I wanted to update iTunes to version 10.7 and decided to use the standalone installer rather than the SU version. Still, I decided to run the MAS Software Update function in order to ensure that my computer had all its software up-to-date and then I get this message. I don't think that me installing iTunes is to blame. Probably, it could be an internet connection problem on Apple's end I am still submitting a bug report to Apple.
Now one question, who is your ISP (internet service provider)? In my case I have Comcast and I am in Florida.
    Thanks for your reply!

  • Don't want the Mac App Store

I'm one of those rare fruit (Mac) users who doesn't care for itunes or anything of the sort (I'm really not a Mac fan; I got the computer because I can abuse it more and have it still function with the solid state hard drive). I hate seeing updates for itunes. I imagine the Mac App Store is similar (although for the OS), and I don't want it. How do I install 10.6.6 without installing the Mac App Store?
Also, I read in another thread that a fruit can hibernate. How would I do this? I hate the battery drain when I put it to sleep, and frequently have a bunch of stuff open because I'm completing a long project, like a 60+ page paper that takes me multiple days, if not multiple weeks to complete. Thanks.

That's a good idea (leaving it plugged in all the time) aside from the fact that I'm cheap as heck. Being poor has something to do with it since I'm a grad student. When I'm not using my printer, can opener, toaster, etc. I unplug them or turn them off. Because of this, during the summer I'm able to have electric bills under 20 dollars a month for my apt. I used to even turn of my router every night when I wasn't using it but got fed up with resetting it every time. I also don't use air conditioning and live in KY (my asthmatic lungs react better to heat with humidity than dryness, and to save $). I know - I'm completely different than the norm, but I get by with my quirks. How much do you think it would cost me extra a year to leave my computer plugged in and "sleeping" every night?
If I go into itunes with the preferences, could I make it so itunes never looks for updates? Thanks again.

  • I don't know how to reinstall the Mac App Store after I deleted it on my Mac!

HELP! I deleted the Mac App Store because it hasn't been working for a few days now, every time I tried to download an app it said "Connection Failed" my internet is working and connected properly, I type in all the correct info for my apple ID/Password, it wouldn't let me download any apps and this has gone on for a few days already, so I decided to delete the Mac App Store and reinstall it, but I can't reinstall it, I have to download the whole latest version again, which I can't because you download it thru the Mac app store! By the way i have the latest version for mac, i think heres my version: Mac OS X version 10.9.4, now i don't know what to do..... I'm i gonna have to take this to the apple store and ask? If so what will they say? Or does anyone have a solution? Please leave a response has this happened to anyone else?

OS X Mavericks: Reinstall OS X Heres the link if anyone else had the same problem!! This is if you deleted not only the Mac App Store, but iTunes, Calendar, whatever came with the Mac (Apps that came already installed on the Mac), if you deleted one of those then you have to reinstall the Mac OS, Note: This one is for Mac OS X (Maverick) my version is 10.9.4, go to that link and follow the instructions if you have Mac OS X (Maverick). Other help: Common Mistake: If you delete the app from the dock then just go to finder and applications folder and drag the app back onto the dock(it was just deleted from the dock NOT your system/computer). Hope that helps others who had the same problem.

  • Cannot find Mountain Lion on the Mac App Store.

I've called the Apple Store.  All I can get without paying $19.99 to talk to a real person is the automated system.  Through that, I am told that Mountain Lion is available "exclusively at the Mac App Store."  I can't find it anywhere!  I've tried searching and the only thing that I finally get is the upgrade for Mountain Lion,  Where is Mountain Lion hiding?

I think that you called Apple Care, not the Apple Store. If you are are not in the 90 free phone help or have not purchased the extended Apple warranty then it costs money to speak to Apple Care. But the Apple Store is always free to discuss purchases. 1-800-MY-APPLE
But the only version of OS X sold now in the Mac App Store (MAS) is Mavericks. To buy any previous version, you need to call the Apple Store and they sell you a redemption code that takes a day or three to get forwarded to your email from a different part of Apple.

  • AIR apps on the Mac App Store

    Hi,
We have an AIR application that we'd love to release on the Mac App Store. However, due to Apple's strict guidelines on installers, it seems that AIR apps would not be allowed. We we need is something in the vein of the Flash Packager for iPhone, except for desktop AIR apps. Does anyone know if this is in Adobe's current plans? I'd like to be able to consider other alternatives such as Shu which package the framework and AIR file into an app bundle. But I understand that this is prohibited by the AIR distribution license. Any insight or suggestions much appreciated!

    William,
I got past the "Unable to build valid certificate chain for the signer" by installing the "Apple Root CA" with Keychain Access, importing my private key .p12 file, exported from Keychain Access, into Firefox and then exporting (Backup...) it back out. I think that caused the final .p12 file to contain the whole certificate chain.
Unfortunatly, I now get the error "Packaging failed. Make sure your computer time is in sync and your certificate is valid" when trying to build my bundle using adt.

  • Where is the app I just bought from the Mac App Store?

    Hello there!!
My name is Dani G. I use the Pixelmator app a lot to make book covers, banners, story ads, and some other graphics for people on Wattpad, and I always use Pixelmator. When my 30-day-trial ended, I bought it from the App Store with my App Store gift card, and my money even showed that I bought it.
But when I installed it to my Mac, it just showed that it was downloading, then the app would disappear from my dock. I stared, shocked, so I tried looking for it in my Finder. I couldn't find it anywhere, and I kept trying to install it again and again.
I even deleted the old Pixelmator trial app I had, and it still wouldn't show up.
Whys is this happening and how can I find my purchase on my computer to start using it?

Try purchasing a free app from the Mac App Store and see what happens. Essentially it needs access to the Applications folder, so if you have experienced any permission issues with that folder, you may want to consider running Disk Utility and repairing the permissions for Macintosh HD.
If you think it's Dock-related, try dragging another item to your dock...either another application from Applications, or a folder right next to the Trash (NOT in the Trash).
Start with the basics, restart the iMac and check your Purchases in the MAS to see if Pixelmator is listed.
