The sync is one way - computer to iphone. The exception is itunes purchases: File>Transfer Purchases.
It has always been very basic to always maintan a backup copy of your computer for this very occasion. Use your backup copy of your computer to put everything back.

My computer has died and will not be working ever again. Problem is, i have all of my songs on that computer in my itunes library as well as on my phone. Now i want to add some songs to my phone from some new cds and it tells me i will loose all my songs on my phone right now when i perform the sync. If for some reason you have failed to backup, big mistake, then you can transfer itunes purchases from the iphone to the computer: File>Transfer Purchases
You may be able to buy a 3rd party program to get any other music off of the iphone ( not supported by Apple).
When you sync the iphone, it will erase the current content and replace with content form the new computer.

How can I transfer all the music from my iPhone to the library on my new computer?
My iPhone was synced with my iTunes on a laptop that has since crashed. I'm wanting to transfer all my music and photos from my phone to my computer, which currently has an empty library. However, I'm worried that if I sync, it will erase everything I have and leave me with nothing. I didn't have anything backed up, so I hate to lose all that's on my phone when some of it is from CDs that I no longer have that were ripped into my previous library.
Your i-device was not designed for unique storage of your media. It is not a backup device and media transfer was planned with you maintaining a master copy of your media on a computer which is itself independently backed up against loss. To use a device witha different setup you transfer the old library from a computer or a backup directly to the new setup, not the device to the library. Media syncing is one way, computer to device, updating the device content to the content on the computer, not updating or restoring content on a computer. The exception is iTunes Store purchases which can be transferred to a computer.

HT1386 How can I transfer all my music from my iPhone to iTunes?
I just got a new computer forcing me to dowload iTunes all over again. I have all my music on my iPhone but i want to transfer it to my iTunes library. How can I do this? Every time i try to sync it, it says that all songs on my phone now will be replaced with the songs in the library...meaning since there is no music there that it would just be erasing all my music on my phone. PLEASE HELP. Thanks.

New to all this upload stuff so pls excuse me ! So my computer had to be refreshed, I had ripped my CD's to iTunes and also purchased some, the purchased ones are still on iTunes but all of the ones that I had ripped have gone. I have them on my iphone 5, is there a way to put all of the music from the iphone back on to itunes? Have tried "Googling" without success have tried a converter app but still no joy. PLS HELP !!!

Restore them from the backup of yoru computer...

iTunes includes an option to transfer iTunes content that was purchased/downloaded from the iTunes store from an iPod, iPad, or iPhone, but this is for iTunes content that was purchased/downloaded from the iTunes store only.
First you need to authorize your Mac with your iTunes account with iTunes.
With your iPhone connected and without syncing, at the iTunes menu bar go to File and select Transfer Purchases From - the name of your iPhone. -
My old desktop crashed and I had over 800+ songs on my old computer. I have a new laptop but want to transfer ALL songs to my new computer not just those purchased on iTunes. I want to save all 800+ songs and then begin to download new songs to my iPod. Any suggestions?
