I recently switched my wireless router. It's the same network name but a different password. Now I can't figure out how to get my Airport Express to connect to the new router. Any suggestions?

Everything has changed as far as the AirPort Express is concerned.
Reset the device back to factory default settings and then reconfigure it again to connect to your "new" network, just like you did when you configured the Express to connect to your "old" network when you started from factory default settings.
Power up the Express for few minutes
Hold in the reset button for 10 seconds and release
Allow a full minute for the Express to restart to a slow, blinking amber light
Now you can configure the Express to connect to your new network, just like you did originally.

Using System Preferences > Network > AirPort Advanced again, you need to remove any listings of previous networks that used the same password as Molly. Click the name of the network and click the - (minus) button at the bottom of the list of connections.
Also delete any other networks (except Molly at the top of the list) that might have used the same name...Molly in the past.
Delete any other networks that you no longer need so that your Mac will search for networks more quickly
Click OK, then click Apply
Open KeyChain Access and look for a listing of any old networks that you no longer need. Click to highlight the name of the network, then click the Delete Key on your computer.
Then look for any old networks that might have used the name Molly in the past and do the same for them.
Then look for any old networks that might have used the same password as the password for your "new" Molly network and delete them in the same way
Click the KeyChain Access menu just next to the Apple icon in the upper left corner of the computer screen
and then click KeyChain First Aid
Enter the main administrator password for the Mac you are using and highlight the Repair button. Then click Start. You will see a message that repairs have been completed

Power down the entire network...all devices...order is not important
Power up the modem first, then your main router, the other devices one at a time

If not, I'm afraid that you will need to change the name of the wireless network and password on your router due to corruption issues on the Mac. Unfortunately, you won't be able to. In order to do so, you would have to configure both the AirPort Express and the other wireless router for a WDS. Since it will unlikely that the other router is another AirPort, nor will you have the ability to administer it, you won't be able to get this accomplished.

The Apple Express is a router. The new Apple Express has a LAN port so you can have a device on a wired connection.
Are you talking about removing the modem and only having the Airport Express?

Airport Express as wifi card for Xbox Live, then connect to Extreme network

My son just got xbox Live and we're trying to use Airport Express as wifi card for xbox (connected to xbox via ethernet). We use Airport Extreme as router for the house.
We're having trouble setting up Xbox Live, keep getting stuck at getting the xbox to communicate/access the web. Error reads "can't obtain IP address from router... make sure DHCP is enabled and has a large enough address range for all devices on network.. also make sure MAC filtering allows your console's MAC address or is disabled... "
We dont' know what else to do. I'm at wit's end before giving Gates $100... Anyone know how to get connected?

You can also perform a simple test to verify if you have an internet connection at the ethernet port on the AirPort Express.
Move a laptop near the Express, turn off the wireless on the laptop, and connect to the Express using an ethernet cable. See if you can open your browser and get a good solid internet connection.
If you can, the Express is setup correctly and you know that you have an internet connection reaching all the way to the Xbox.
If you can't then there is a configuration error somewhere and it will need to be identified and corrected.

Start with the most basic thing that you can try. Unplug the router from power for about 30 seconds, and restart the printer and the iPad and plug the router back into power.

EPrint does not work after new wifi router on Verizon DSL

I have been using ePrint on my iPod, iPad, and iPhone for a few months without a problem, but recently had to switch to a new wifi router on my Verizon DSL, as my wifi kept turning off and Verizon's solution was an updated wifi router. Since the switch, I cannot ePrint from my mobile devices. I can, after reconfiguration, print from my laptops. The ePrint app still finds the Deskjet 3050a, says "sending to printer", but will not print. The ePrint is turned on. I tried to delete the app and reinstall in hopes that I can start fresh, but it still does not work. I tried to add a new printer, with the email supplied on the ePrint screen on the printer, but nothing.
Any ideas?

Is your printer connected to the new router as it sounds like it is still looking for the old one ? Maybe just disconnect it and reconnect it again to your new router and then the ePrint APP should pick it up.

Airport express use as router.

I have two airport express. the first as base, the second as bridge. I want to use a wireless IP camera connected to internet and accessible from any other PC in the world by internet. Is it possible with my airport express or do i need a router.

You main base AirPort Express is a router if you have configured it as such.
Open Macintosh HD > Applications > Utilities > AirPort Utility
Click on the base AirPort Express icon,then click on Edit
Click the Network tab at the top of the next window
IF....the Router Mode setting is configured as DHCP and NAT, then the Express is functioning as a router. You will likely need to use the Port Mapping settings to configure the cameras.
IF...the Router Mode is set to "Off (Bridge Mode)", then you have another device on the network....you likely call this your modem....that is providing the DHCP and NAT functions, so it is acting as the router for the network. You will need to configure Port Mapping or Port Forwarding on this device.

The situation is this: I have a MacBook as described below, and a DSL cable connected straight from my laptop to an Ethernet port provided in my room, not through any modem. I'm living in dorm, so that's how school provides dorm students with internet connection. But sometimes, i've got to stay up late and search for information, but the connection automatically drops since it is "light out" time. Now i' considering buying an Airport Express ( or maybe Airport Extreme) to create wireless network. I really don't get how to set it up or how it's gonna work for my situation. I don't have any modem or router around. Can anyone explain the real function of Airport Express? And if possible, can you please tell me is it better for me to buy Airport Express or Airport Extreme?

True! I know that i just need to connect that cable from my laptop into the Ethernet network port. The situation is sometimes i need to stay up late to study but don't have connection past 11:30 (light out time, no more connection). And sometimes, i want to go somewhere else and use wireless network where there isn't one available. For example, my friend's house. I also want to know how the set-up of the Airport Express helps me create wireless network. Do I need a modem or a router to connect Airport express to or else? after setting up, do i need anymore DSL cable or so? Does Airport Express itself function as a wireless access point? One more question: if i set up my wireless connection in my dorm, but later i unplug the Airport Express and go somewhere to plug in, will it still work, or i have to set-up the network again?

Another problem that arises for in your reply is that, school network is administered by staffs of IT department. If i have to to connect my wireless network to school's cabled network, i think i've got quite a lot of explaining to staffs to do. . Anyway, thanks so much for your information.

How do I use my Airport Express as my router's bridge to the Internet?

Howdy!
My apartment building recently got wifi. I want to set up my own wifi network in my apartment so I can connect my MacBook Pro, a wireless printer, and another wifi enabled computer. I want to be able to print wirelessly, and get on the Internet via the building's wifi, at the same time. I have an Airport Express (802.11n, 2008 version) and a Rosewill wireless router with 1 WAN port and 4 LAN ports.
I figure there's got to be a way to have the Airport Express in bridge mode, connected to the building's wifi, with an ethernet cable connected to the Rosewill router, which in turn would be the AP for my computers and printer. Basically this is like a regular Internet-enabled home network, except that instead of the router being connected to a modem to get the Internet connection, it's connected to the Airport-Express-in-bridge-mode (at least I assume that's the mode it should be in for this purpose).
I have searched the web, found some pretty technical explanations, and tried them, but I must be missing something because the Internet connection isn't working.
My building's wifi provider does support wireless gaming adapters (which I'm pretty sure are just bridges), and I've given them the Express's MAC address for this purpose. The Airport Express shows a green light when set up to join the building wifi network.

I figure there's got to be a way to have the Airport Express in bridge mode, connected to the building's wifi, with an ethernet cable connected to the Rosewill router, which in turn would be the AP for my computers and printer.
The way to do this would be to configure the Express to "Join a wireless network" and check the option to Enable Ethernet Clients to activate the Ethernet port.
If you fail to enable the Ethernet port, then there will be no signal at the port...and no Internet connection.
Enter the name of the wireless network that you want to join.
The real trick will be to match up the security settings on the Express with the building's WiFi security. Unless the settings match exactly, the Express will not "join" the network....and you will not have an Internet connection. Then enter the password for the wireless network and Verify it again.
Click Update to save the settings.
As I type this, I am connected to the hotel's wireless network with my AirPort Express and have it providing an Ethernet signal to my "new" AirPort Express to deliver a dual band wireless network for the room for multiple wireless devices.
The hotel wireless has somewhat limited bandwidth, (as may your building connection) so a big download from the Internet will be slow. For regular browsing, email, things work just fine.

IMac (on Ethernet) Can No Longer Stream to Airport Express (on WiFi)

After years of reliable service, all of a sudden I cannot stream music from iTunes on my iMac, via my Airport Express, to my stereo system.
First, a bit about my configuration:
   * iMac connected via Ethernet to a wireless router (D-Link DIR-655).
   * iMac Airport (WiFi) is turned off.
   * D-Link sets up a wireless network, and Airport Express joins the network.
   * Airport Express does not set up its own network, it's simply a client of the existing D-Link wireless network.
   * iTunes "sees" the Airport Express, and can stream audio via AirPlay.
   * iPad also joins the wireless network, and also can stream to the Airport Express via AirPlay.
   * iMac running 10.6.8, with all software updates applied.
   * Airport Express running latest firmware (7.6.1).
Well, that was a few days ago, when "it just worked". But for some unknown reason iTunes could no longer "see" the Airport Express.
So I took my Airport Express to the Apple Store and they did a Factory Reset, but it did not solve the problem. I figured my rather old Airport Express was failing, so today I bought a new one. The symptoms have changed a bit, but even after spending an hour on the phone with AppleCare, it doesn't work properly.
Now, the only way the iMac can stream to the Airport Express is if the iMac also joins the wireless network. In fact, now with Airport turned OFF on the iMac, the Airport Utility cannot see the Airport Express. But here's another weird thing: when I use the IP address of the Airport Express, the Airport Utility CAN connect with and manage the Airport Express, even with Airport turned OFF on the iMac!
I should also mention, the iPad has no issues whatsoever connecting to the D-Link's wireless network and streaming music to the Airport Express.
This all seems like something might have changed on the D-Link wireless router. But for the life of me, I cannot figure out what setting(s) on the router might allow the iMac - over Ethernet - to stream audio to the Airport Express.
Another thing. When I have Airport turned on on the iMac, it can "see" and stream to the Airport Express, but the music has very frequent drop-outs. Could this be related to the fact that the iMac has two IP addresses (one on Ethernet, one on WiFi)?
My goal is to get things "back to normal", where I can turn off Airport on the iMac, and all LAN and WAN traffic from the iMac goes over Ethernet. I have a few questions (for now :-)
   * Since my iMac has two connections to my LAN using two IP addresses (Ethernet & WiFi), is that likely to cause any issues?
   * When two computers join the same wireless LAN, can they effectively talk directly to one another, or does the wireless router need to be involved every time one computer sends a TCP or UDP packet to the other?
   * Do routers (or the DIR-655 in particular) tend to have any firewalls or policies that control connections on the LAN between Ethernet and WiFi clients?
   * Since AirPlay uses TCP port 3689 and UDP port 5353, would the DIR-655 need any special configuration to "open these ports" so an Ethernet client can connect with a WiFi client?
So, any help would be most appreciated!

I am having a very similar issue. I use my Airport Express (AX) to stream music from the computers on my network to my stereo via Airplay. I have AX set up to wirelessly join my existing wireless network, which uses a D-Link DIR-655 router hooked to a Time Warner cable modem. I can succesfully connect all of my wireless devices via Airplay, through iTunes to my AX, including two laptops and an iPhone. However, my primary desktop PC, which does not have a wireless card is linked directly via ethernet cable to my D-Link router, and it is not able to see my AX. Similar to your case, I can see the Airport Express from my PC through my Airport Utility by directly typing in the IP address. Note that the AX set-up option to allow Ethernet clients is checked. I also noticed that my laptops will stop detecting AX if I directly connect them to my D-Link router via Ethernet and turn off their wireless cards. They will resume detecting AX when I turn their wireless connections back on. I have tried every conceivable setting of my D-Link router to no avail.

Hello all. I have a question regarding Airport Express's audio transmitting capabilities. First, I recently purchased an Airport Express to expand the wifi range in my new house. The house is one floor, and my Linksys N router is located on the other side of the house from my bedroom. The signal from the Linksys is spotty at best in the bedroom, so I have the Airport Express connected via CAT5 in bridge mode in my bedroom. The signal is great and everything has worked fine so far with that setup.
The reason that I needed wifi stronger in the bedroom is that we have 2 IP cameras that we use as baby monitors for our toddler and newborn. We have a Trendnet system, which includes a 7" wifi monitor that displays multiple Trendnet cameras connected to your network simultaneously. That all works great as well, with only one drawback. The monitor does not support audio from the 2 IP cameras at all. So I get video but no audio, and the audio is important when using them as baby monitors.
The IP cameras are audio capable, and you can actually hear the audio when you access the cameras from your computer. The only problem is that we have a desktop at home and no laptop (although I recently purchased an iPad, but all IP camera apps that I seen so far have the same lack of audio issue). The IP cameras also have a 3.5 mm output jack on them, so you can hook up speakers to them to extract the sound that way.
My question is this...if I purchased a 2nd Airport Express, is there a way that I could connect the audio output to an AE (through the 3.5 mm jacks) by the baby's camera, and then have the audio wirelessly transmitted to the AE in our bedroom (hooking up a small set of speakers to the AE in the bedroom as the output for the audio)?
I'm very new to the Airport Express world, so any help would be appreciated.

Sorry, but no. The audio port on the AirPort Express Base Station (AX) is an audio OUTPUT port, not an input port ... so connecting the output audio from the camera via this port won't work. The AX's audio is dependent on receiving an AirTunes (or ROAP protocol) stream over IP ... typically from iTunes (or as Jolly has pointed out via a third-party solution like Airfoil).

OLD Airport Express + NEW Time Capsule (dual) = nightmare

ok i have been trying all day to get my (very very very old, like 5 years old) AE working again, but simply cannot. feel like a total meathead, and have perhaps confused the issue with trying to install a time capsule at the same time?
i have a big-ish room (30 sq m) but no walls and def no issues with signal strength. in fact the AE and the TC are right next to each other and my MBP is about 5 meters away.
anyway here's what happened, any help greatly appreciated!
i have just moved flat and had to call the ISP because the wifi modem/router was playing up. turns out there's so many wireless signals in the building they're all vying for the same channel. so he manually changed the modem/router channel (to what i don't know) so as to be no conflict. so far so good, the wifi internet works again. phew.
buuuuut, now my AE won't connect to the network like it did in the prev flat same network name, same physical setup, but no love. all i get is a steady blinking orange light. always. in fact Airport Utility will only recognise the AE directly after a factory reset, and whenever it tries to then write the new settings and restart, i get the spinning wheel of death till eventually Airport Utility just wigs out saying the AE can't connect to the network.AE is running firmware 6.3 (the highest it will take) at this stage.
so i think maybe i'll just try to set up the Time Capsule, make that the main network node (not the wifi modem/router) and then connect the AE to that. And it worked! Well for about 1 nanosecond where i heard my itunes coming from the speakers. but then..... nothing. iTunes would not connect again and actually gave the error you get when someone else is using the speakers, but i can assure you no one else was. its only me in the house.
so anyway then i read that if i drop the AE firmware down to 6.1.1 i might get some love. tried that and.... nothing. now it won't connect to the TC nor the modem/router. so i push the firmware up again to 6.3 and now it won't connect to the TC - ***?!?! and still the AE only appears in the Airport Utility directly after a factory reset...
aaaaaaarrrrrrrgggggghhhhh, i am going banannas! i am desperate for help because i work from home and need my music from decent speakers! these little MBP tinny speaker things are just horrible...
If only the TC had an audio out i could just throw the AE away! have heard something about WDS or something? or could i even use an ethernet cable to wire the TC and AE together? or is it just time to buy a new AE? even though all i really need is to wirelessly get my music to my speakers and it seems a bit like overkill for that perhaps?
any and all help greatly appreciated, as i'm going to be bald very soon at this rate i'm so stressed and depressed

Is your goal with the 802.11b/g AirPort Express Base Station (AX) just to use it for streaming? How about the TC? Will it only be used for Time Machine backups? Do you prefer to leave the ISP's wireless router as you main Internet router? What is the make/model of this router? Finally, I assume that you will want to employ encryption for your wireless network ... would that be with the WEP, WPA, or WPA2 standard?

Can't connect Airport Express to Netgear router's network

Apple Airport Express doesn't see my new network. It sees my old ActionTec router network but not my Netgear router (WNR1000v3). I only use Airport Express for Airplay audio, not for extending wifi range. Do I need to change a Netgear router setting?

Alright. So after all that: calling Netgear, ISP and Apple customer service I fixed it myself by... get ready for it... unplugging Airport Express and plugging it back in. For some reason the AE's were seeing my old network and like 7 of my neighbors but they needed to restart to identify my new network. I hope someone else gets helped by my naivety in the future. BTW, Apple Care was awesome. My first time calling and hardly any wait time.
