  • Unable to Restore my iPad after software update

I just updated all Apple software and went to sync my ipad with itunes...it would not allow me to restore with my back-up information it kept saying there was an error while trying to restore. It gave me 3 options, cancel Restore to factory settings, or Restore with back-up (or something like that.).
The only option I had was to restore to factory settings in order for me to get past it after the 10th time. I powered off (held off switch for 10 seconds) let it stay off for 5 minutes. I also powered down my Windows PC and then reconnected my ipad and tried to restore again. It still gave me the same error. So it looks like I have lost all of my applications and everything I had.
I am now trying to sync again to see what I can do to retrieve all my data but it automatically canceled my sync!!
Help!! All of this because I tried to update to the new software? I LOST everything!!!!!
Please help me get my ipad back the way it was (all of my apps and personal information)!
Thank you to anyone with answers!!
    Lil Missy...

    Here is the work around:
When and if you get the same error it will prompt you to select one of three choices:
You have to select the LAST choice ---either Cancel (if you do this you will keep going around in circles), Restore to YOUR settings (which is really a trick question), or Restore to Factory (sorry I can't recall exact language)
Then in itunes select your ipad under "Devices" if it doesn't automatically...(YOU CAN SKIP TO #5)
There will be 3 Boxes in the "Summary" screen for you to choose from:
VERSION: DO NOT SELECT RESTORE, BACK.. I selected "Back up to this computer", OPTIONS: click on which ever box you desire (I did #1 & #2). Then I selected "CONFIGURE UNIVERSAL ACCESS" and hit "OK".
In the bottom right hand corner you will see two choices, select "SYNC" and your ipad & computer should start the syncing process which could last a LONG time depending on how much data you have backed up.
Sorry if this doesn't work for you but it's working so far for me! Good luck...and Apple please don't do this again! So very confusing!

  • HT4061 How to restore my ipad after downloading itunes?

How to restore my ipad after downloading itunes?

Try restoring the iOS device if backing up and erasing all content and settings doesn't resolve the issue. Using iTunes to restore iOS devices is part of standard isolation troubleshooting. Restoring your device will delete all data and content, including songs, videos, contacts, photos, and calendar information, and will restore all settings to their factory condition.
    Before restoring:
Verify that you are using the latest version of iTunes.
    Back up your device.
Transfer and sync content to your computer.
    Restoring your iOS device
Connect your device to your computer.
Select your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch when it appears in iTunes. Select the Summary tab, and click the Restore button.
    Click Restore.
After a restore, the iOS device restarts. You should then see "Slide to set up". Follow the steps in the iOS Setup Assistant.
If needed, restore your device from a previous backup.
If restoring does not finish successfully or if a restore error appears, see iOS: Resolving update and restore alert messages.
    Additional Information
If your device is continually restarting, not responding, or showing the Apple logo with no progress bar or a stopped progress bar, place the device into recovery mode and try restoring again.
Devices with cellular service should activate after a restore. If activation is not successfu, see the options below.
    Symptoms
Your iPhone may display one of the following messages when you attempt to activate it:
"Your iPhone could not be activated because the activation server is temporarily unavailable."
"The iPhone is not recognized and cannot be activated for service."
"iTunes was unable to verify your device."
    Resolution
Perform the following steps if you receive one of the messages above:
    Restart the iPhone.
Try another means of reaching the activation server and attempt to activate.
Try connecting to Wi-Fi if you're unable to activate using a cellular data connection.
Try connecting to iTunes if you're unable to activate using Wi-Fi.
    Restore the iPhone.
If you receive an alert message when you attempt to activate your iPhone, try to place the iPhone in recovery mode and perform a restore. If you're still unable to complete the setup assistant due to an activation error, contact Applefor assistance.

How do I restore my Ipad 4 from my desktop computer? My charger was damaged so I bought a new one but it won't charge. On my Ipad, I have a BATTERY bar in the middle that is flashing RED and an icon on the bottom that looks like the end of a charger. I have tried to force into reset mode, by holding the sleep key and home button SEVERAL times but it does NOT work. I have plugged my Ipad into my desktop computer, but I do not have a screen on my desktop that is coming up. THIS HAPPENED BEFORE AFTER I DID AN UPDATE AND WAS LOCKED OUT AND I USED EITHER ICLOUD OR ITUNES TO RESTORE, NOT SURE WHICH AND I FORGOT HOW.

    Hi MrsMoosie,
I'm sorry to hear you are having these issues with your iPad. If your iPad isn't responding or doesn't appear to be charging, you may find the information and troubleshooting steps outlined in the following articles helpful, in particular the following portion:
If you don't see the charging screen within an hour, or you see the connect to power screen, check your connector, USB cable, and power adapter. Make sure that everything is plugged in firmly, free of debris, and not damaged. You might want to try a different USB cable or power adapter.
If your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch doesn't respond or doesn't turn on - Apple Support
If you can’t charge your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch - Apple Support
    Regards,
    - Brenden

  • How do I restore my iPad to a previous backup made on another computer (Mac)?

How do I restore my iPad to a previous backup made on another computer (a Mac)?
I made copies of the backup in the /mobilesync folder and put them on a hard drive. Now I'm in an endless cycle of restoring/syncing which keeps erasing data off of my iPad on the new computer (which is just a hard drive reformat...it's the same computer, technically, but in theory brand new after a hard drive formatting).
Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Normally backups are incremental, and you can only restore the latest. EXCEPT that a backup of an earlier version is archived, and the first backup of the new version is thus complete. You should be able to restore a 6.1.4 backup to iOS 7. Click the Restore Backup button. The dialog that comes up should have a dropdown where you can select a backup to restore. If the old one does not show up it cannot be restored.
However, since you appear to have a Mac, if you use Time Machine you can restore an earlier backup over the current one from your Time Machine history.
You can also back up to iCloud, even if you don't sync to it. See: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5262
One well hidden feature (for future use) is archiving backups. If you go to iTunes Preferences/Devices, right click on the current backup and choose "Archive". The next backup you make will be a competely new one, and the old one will be preserved and can be restored at any time.

  • How can I restore my ipad from iCloud

How i can restore my ipad form iCloud

You will first have to update your new iPhone to iOS 8.1.2. Go through the setup without restoring. Next go to Settings > General > Software Update and update. After the update is complete choose Settings > General > Reset > Erase All Content and Settings. This will put the iPhone back into Setup mode. You can now do the setup and restore to your iOS 8.1.2 backup.

You cannot get around Activation Lock without the oringinal owner disassociating the iPad from their account.
See the Activation Lock FAQ for what you and they need to know.

how can i restore my iPad?

Nevermind, I solved it with iPad backup restore. Backed up every app individually to an ipa with app+records. Then reset to factory, restored old iTunes backup and did the same again for the other apps. Now I have all apps on the computer with its corresponding data and don't rely on partially implemented backup solutions.

  • Has anyone been unable to restore their iPad after attempting to upgrade to ios5? error 1

Has anyone been unable to restore their iPad after attempting to upgrade to ios5? I get an unknown error 1 message. Thanks.

I have the same problem. Something happened during the download and froze iTunes. After spending three days searching these forums with the dead iPad, the only thing I got to work was to try downloading iOS 5 using my sons computer. This worked. However I cannot now get my computer's iTunes to sync with my iPad.. It contains the same error message (1602) and has the same problem as before. It is not an antivirus problem. I need some help too

Again, iTunes only keeps one normal backup, per device. Any other backups listed are backups created from restore points. These are time/date stamped & are not overwritten.
