Some wireless carriers could track your phone. But other than that, only other way is find my iphone. I know at&t can track, but i believe you have to subscribe to something. Think its called Family Track

I just want to repeat what was said up thre thread: make sure you report this phone as lost or stolen to your carrier; this will prevent anyone from wiping it out and registering it as their own phone with service.
With ios 7 and beyond ,it's not possible to wipe it out and have it set up as a new phone number unless you know the iCLoud ID and password. THat's great, but for iOS 6 you should report it stolen or lost so that it's worthless if someone stole it or found it.
Your IMEI number is on the box or with the carrier you bought it from. IT won't help you find your phone but you can list it as lost or stolen. -

Of course it changed. A phone's IMEI number is unique to each phone. The IMEI number for a phone does not transfer to another phone.
Since your iPhone was exchanged under warranty without having the box and bill for the original purchase, you don't need it now either. The exchange under warranty remains under the warranty for the original purchase. -
is it necessary to put in sim card in iphone at the time of restore ? My phone is stolen and i am concerned that if somebody will restore it then i will not be able to find it even using find my phone.
There is no way that you can locate the iphone at all.
The thief can restore it and use it as their own. You will never know or be able to tell what they do with it.

The only way to locate any lost/stolen iPhone is through Find My Phone or a similar app. However, this requires that Find My Phone be setup/activated, on your phone, before it was lost/stolen. You would then login at iCloud.com & try to locate it. This requires the phone be turned on & have an Internet connection. There is no other way to locate a lost/stolen iPhone. Apple can't/won't help you, nor will your carrier. Report the loss to the Police, your carrier & Insurance company. Change all of your passwords.

- If you previously turned on FIndMyiPone on the iPhone in Settings>iCloud and wifi or cellular data is on and connected go to iCloud: Find My iPhone, sign in and go to FIndMyiPhone. If the iPhone has been restored it will never show up.
- You can also wipe/erase the iPod and have to iPhone play a sound via iCloud.
- Change the passwords for all accounts used on the iPhone and report to police and contact your carrier
- There is no way to prevent someone from restoring the iPhone (it erases it) using it.
- Apple will do nothing

If your carrier offers Blacklisting & they Blacklist the phone, it will be unusable as a phone.
If locked with a passcode, and running iOS 7.0, then phone cannot be re-activated or the passcode removed without knowing your Apple iD/Password. It will be nothing but a useless paperweight.
If not running iOS 7.0, the phone can be forced into recovery mode & restored. -

If you did not activate the Find my Phone feature before your phone was lost, then there's no way to track it.
You need to notify your carrier so that they can disable your SIM. That's really all you can do. -

No, they cannot. Apple doesn't get involved in that kind of thing.
This is also just a user-to-user forum. If you'd activated Find My iPhone on the device, you could possibly track it with another iOS device or www.icloud.com on a computer. -

I have lost my iphone 5S one week back. Find My iphone was enabled immediately. It also had a passcode to open the phone. immediately after loosing the phone I have turned it into lost mode. Also disabled my SIM. Form that moment it shows has offline. Yesterday someone called me and said my phone has been brought by his friend for $350 dollars. If I pay him the money he will return it. The guy called me not on the number is put while enabling the lost mode. He called me on my number which I used in the lost phone. How did he manage to get my SIM number. Will he be able to access my contacts, Photos, and other apps. Please need some help... Still the phone is showing on the icloud. Will he be able to use the phone....Hello bjosephdubai,
If he is a hacker or a computer genius, he will have access to your data. But I don't think so...
If he doesn't know your passcode he won't be able to get into your personal files.

You can only activate find my phone while you have the phone, now you have lost it, there isn't anything you can do. -
wat if i have lost my iphone and the person delets my icloud ID and enters his own new one can i still look find the phone using Find my iphone using my earlier ID or will it not pick up my phone as he changed the Icloud ID which was associated to me ID
if someone deletes icloud or even if you wipe phone it is not traceable anymore.

I have lost my iphone. I rang my service provider who deactivated my sim card as I am on a contract. I logged into icloud and my device is appearing offline however i requested the erase iphone feature.. which is still pending. My question is how safe is my information... If someobody was to put there sim into my iphone would it delete my info as soon as they got signal? I luckily had a security code activated when the phone is switched on this must be entered and when the phone locks. Any help would be appreciated.
The erase will be executed if it ever goes back online with Find My iPhone still enabled on the phone, whether that's via wifi or 3G. The good news is that if you set a passcode on the phone before it was lost your data is safe even if the remote erase command isn't executed. The only way someone would be able to use the phone without the passcode is to force it into recovery mode (which erases all data) and restore it as a new iPhone.
