I started to download the new software and had to stop halfway. I started to finish it later this evening and then while it was doing that it went to a black screen saying to connect to itunes. What do I do?
Is your device recognized by your computer? If yes, copy the pictures and videos as shown in this article:
Copying personal photos and videos from iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch to your computer
If it is not recognized, try this first: iOS: Device not recognized in iTunes for Windows
Disable autosync in iTunes, right click on it in the device list and choose "transfer purchases" to copy apps and other media bought in iTunes to your new library.
Do the same again and choose "backup", to create a manual backup without syncing.
Since your device will be erased due to the new iTunes library during the first sync, you can use this backup afterwards to restore your settings and data.
Set up at least one contact and event on your computer before you start, to be able to merge calendars and contacts.

Reboot the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons -

I downloaded a newer version of iTunes, 10.7. Now it will not let me purchase anything. I get an error code -42408. What does this mean and how do I fix? quit iTunes
trashed ~/Library/Preferences/com.apple.iTunes.plist
started iTunes, and authorised my account

You may have installed the "DownLite" trojan, perhaps under a different name. Remove it as follows.
Malware is constantly changing to get around the defenses against it. The instructions in this comment are valid as of now, as far as I know. They won't necessarily be valid in the future. Anyone finding this comment a few days or more after it was posted should look for more recent discussions or start a new one.
Back up all data.
Triple-click anywhere in the line below on this page to select it:

Right-click or control-click the line and select

I have remaining credit at the iTunes Store, but will not let me use without entering 'your Gift Card or Download Code' which, of course, was thrown away months ago, when I first put the code in! What you are saying does not make sense. You redeem a card once, that's it. It doesn't matter what device you are using, as long as it's using the same account, you will get the reminder of your store credits.

I did not do my research before changing my Apple ID from an outdated email address to a current one. I just changed and verified and though I was all set. WRONG! Now I cannot sign in to iCloud because it will not let me enter the new Apple ID. I read the 10/30/13 randers4 post to just change your Apple ID back then sign in and change it to the new email address again and then you can sign in, but I cannot change back to the prior email address Apple ID because that is no longer an active email account (or at least not mine). Any thoughts on how to get signed into iCloud when it does not allow me to type in the new Apple ID and the old Apple ID no longer exists.
I see that many people have asked, but no one has come up with a solution that I found.
Thanks for any help!This did not work for me. My old email account for iCloud still pops up on my screen every time I open my macbook. I've deleted it, reset it, every thing I can think of and it still shows up. I think six months of this is more than enough time to wait.

Wondering if you might know? I don't have enough space to update the new software on iPad. So my facetime isn't working anymore, this is prob why. Seems I have to delete like all the games/apps we have to do so. Will I lose the progress data/levels in the games? But how do I back up the games data?
Please help. Scared to delete them to update and then not have the space to restore them and if I get them again will the levels/progress be gone?
Thanks RachelConnect your device to iTunes and do the update through iTunes. Using a computer takes much less space on your device than doing the update on your device.

Mine gave me an error in itunes side that it didnt recognize the phone. But when I unplugged and re plugged it it was fine. Or is yours on the screen with the little plug? You might have to go to Apple. I have that happen to a friend on the 7 upgrade. She needed a new phone. oy!

Ovi Suite 2.0 WILL NOT LET ME DO ANYTHING because ...
First off I want to say that Ovi Suite will not let me do anything because the program is locked up trying to find maps. I can't stop it no matter what I try and do. Reinstalling it does nothing for me, since as soon as I open the program up again, it's trying to connect to the maps server. All I want to do is backup my phone. That's all. Nokia this is the worst piece of software you have ever released. I don't know what you were thinking.

I also tried my E71-2 (RM-357) running v 200 firmware, and still, the second I connect it, Maps tries to start loading, never does, and prevents me from doing the things I need to do (Backup, software updating, message syncing). There's no way to cancel it.
