This is Linda again. The new iPad actually as not restored on my employees computer. I thought it was working. Message said the device is in recovery mode and can not be restored. I have been at the Apple store for a total of 6 hours and on the phone with support for at least 4 hours. And now the replacement has crashed??? Has this happened to any one else?

After updating my Iphone 4s to os 7.1.1 from 7.1 over the air, my phone went into recovery mode. Yet when I try to restore it with Itunes on my windows 7 laptop it says the network connection has been reset. Make sure your network settings are correct and your network is active, or try again later. My phone has the itunes logo and charger symbol on it, as well as an arrow pointing at the Itunes logo. After holding the sleep button down or even doing the hard reset the same screen comes up on my phone regardless of whether it is plugged in or not to my computer. I have turned my computer off and on again. It is plugged in and charging as it's battery life is very short. I also reset my modem and the same error message pops up. The only option on my computer when my phone is plugged in is to restore it. My firewall also allows Itunes through it. I have literally tried everything I know being someone who knows very little about technology. I also do not want to hear about how the update worked for other people. My phone has been in recovery mode for 5 hours at least now so it will just make me more frustrated if a bunch of people post about how the update worked for them.
Once the Device is asking to be Restored with iTunes... it is too late to save anything... and you must continue with the Recovery...

Does your Wifi drop when your iPad mini went into sleep mode after upgrading to iOS 7?
Dear iPad mini users, to those who have upgraded to iOS 7 like I did, do you experienced WiFi drop when your iPad is in sleeping mode? I noticed this problem only few days after upgrading my iOS. Initially I don't think there is such issue. After your iPad mini recover fom sleep mode, then it will automatically connect to WiFi again. My point is it no longer connected to WiFi in sleeping mode and so could not keep me up-to-date with my mail if I am on WiFi.
Do share your view and if there is a solution, do share with me please. I have tried almost all solutions available online but no no avail. At the moment, I am activating my 3G network so that when mail came in, my iPad will notify me even during its sleeping mode but this is getting expensive considering I am using the 3G 24 hours every day now.I found an solution. Go to Settings/Mail, Contact, Calendar/Fetch new data and than enable Push and choose to fetch hourly or every 30 minutes. In this case your iPad will stay connected to wifi even when smart cover is closed. If you select Manualy than wifi connection will be terminated when in sleep mode.

After clean install of Snow Leopard, Time Machine did not restore all files. When I try to restore these files I get "Not enough disk space" error. What do I need to do to get these important files back onto my Mac from my external hard drive??

For what the Apple Store's charge you can buy almost buy a new computer.
Just for giggles I brought my old laptop in for a drive upgrade and asked, they wanted $600 for a drive that only cost $120 at the time and it was a slow 5,400 RPM drive. The new Mac's of a similar make were going for $1000.
I did the drive replacement myself, got a faster drive of better quality for $300 instead.
Then another time I asked for a RAM upgrade from 4GB to 8GB, they wanted to charge $400 + $35 for the labor.
The same RAM is on Crucial.com for $90 and all I need is a 00 micro phillips screwdriver.
So you see what's going on here.
I think what you should do, if your out of warranty/AppleCare, is to call up the local PC tech guy who also does Mac's and have them fix you right up.
They can offer more personalized care which you need. Clone your old drive to the new and everything.
With Apple they are overworked at the Genius Bar and just place roadblocks so you buy a new machine instead.
For instance, all new iMac's now have proprietary drive software installed on the hard drives for heat monitoring. So now the only choice a user has is to bring their iMac into a Apple Store for a very expensive drive upgrade, which a person then decides the money is better spent buying a new machine. -
IPhone 4 went to restore mode after updating to 4.1 - it's NOT jailbroken
I just clicked on the download and update then an error popped up and then it went into restore mode.
I don't want to restore it because I don't want to lose my data. I synched the phone right before I updated it.
My phone is not jailbroken so I'm not sure why this happened.
How can I recover my data?

Check your security software

Why the itunes download a update when I try to restore, if my ipad is already updated?
When I try to restore, the ITunes search for update and ask to download the iOS 6.1.3 update of about 800mb, but my iPad is already 6.1.3. I can't restore because of this problem..
The question isn't whether your iPad was running 6.1.3 before the restore. The question is whether your computer has a copy of 6.1.3 to load onto the iPad. The restore is going to wipe out whatever was on the iPad, then load both iOS and your saved data.

hi i have windows 8 release preview. i tried to update my 8gb ipod touch 4th gen and not its stuck in restore mod loop. but i have a 32gb ipod touch 4th gen that sync's to itunes just fine. ive tried the home and lock button, RecBoot to push it out of restore mod, iRecovery to push it out of restore mod and nothing works. i keep getting error 1603 and 1611. it comes up on itunes and says it needs to be restored. please help
Error 1604
This error is often related to USB timing. Try changing USB ports, using a different dock connector to USB cable, and other available USB troubleshooting steps (troubleshooting USB connections. If you are using a dock, bypass it and connect directly to the white Apple USB dock connector cable. If the issue persists on a known-good computer, the device may need service.
If the issue is not resolved by USB isolation troubleshooting, and another computer is not available, try these steps to resolve the issue:
Connect the device to iTunes, confirm that the device is in Recovery Mode. If it's not in Recovery Mode,put it into Recovery Mode.
Restore and wait for the error.
When prompted, click OK.
Close and reopen iTunes while the device remains connected.
The device should now be recognized in Recovery Mode again.
Try to restore again.
If the steps above do not resolve the issue, try restoring using a known-good USB cable, computer, and network connection.
Error 1603
Follow the steps listed above for Error 1604. Also, discard the .ipsw file, open iTunes and attempt to download the update again. See the steps under Advanced Steps > Rename, move, or delete the iOS software file (.ipsw) below for file locations.If you do not want to remove the IPSW in the original user, try restoring in a new administrator user. If the issue remains, Eliminate third-party security software conflicts.
Restore loop (being prompted to restore again after a restore successfully completes)
Troubleshoot your USB connection. If the issue persists, out-of-date or incorrectly configured third-party security software may be causing this issue. Please follow Troubleshooting security software issues. .
Also, it could be due to an incompatiblity with iTunes and the pre-release Windows 8 version. -

i have a first generation ipad mini which usually works fine. last night the ios update appeared in my settings and i tried to install it.
i didnt have enough space so deleted some apps and then installed.
the ipad switched on at the end but said the update failed as i didnt have enough space i needed a little more. i deleted more apps and attempted to install again
this failed my ipad is now stuck in recovery mode, it hasn't taken itself out as apples help pages suggest after 15 minutes its been in recovery now for 15 hours
i have tried to connect to itunes as the screen is telling me to but it will not recover from there either as apparently i can't connect to apple servers my connection isnt working - i assume because others are having this problem as i a using the same pc to post this message so know my network is fine.
i need help to get out of recovery mode - itunes says my software is up to date so i may have this nightmare software already.i originally tried to install the update using wifi and this did not work. i think i might just chuck the thing as looking on the boards all my stuff will be lost anyway - i backed up 2 days ago but that is nowhere to be found now in itunes or the cloud kmt

IPad stuck in restore mode after update to iOS 8.02
I attempted to do this yesterday and after the update was extracted I kept getting an Unknown error 3104. I tried everything form editing the hosts file in Windows 8.1, disabling my Anti-Virus. Uninstalling and reinstalling iTunes, resetting my router, etc, etc but nothing worked!!! This was very distressing for me as I couldn't use the iPad!!
This morning I tried one last thing. I Downloaded iTunes on another Windows 8.1 PC I have and connected the iPad to it. It detected that it was in Restore mode and download the update from Apple and finally restored the iPad to factory settings!! After this I connected the iPad back on my original PC and restore it to how it was from the last backup made yesterday. Phew!! Apple should say something like this for other users or at least provide some way to get out of restore mode if an update fails or becomes corrupt!!Apple does make the suggestion to try another computer and another Internet connection for that very same error code that you got.
Restore or update on another computer
Try to restore or update on another computer with a different Internet connection. This will help rule out other issues on your computer that might stop iTunes from communicating with the update server.
Errors 1639, 3000-3020, and 3100-3999 (with the exception of 3194) are sometimes caused by your network settings. If your computer uses a managed network, refer to your network administrator. Proxies, firewalls, and other network security measures can cause these errors. If necessary, find a different network connection to restore the device. For example, if you're restoring at work, try to restore at home or on a friend's computer and network. -
i just put my phone down for 2 minutes and i look back and it went into recovery mode i didnt touch nothing and last time i was using it, it was working well. so i go to restore it and i get error 9 when it goes to verify it with apple. i have tried everything changing usb cable changing computers restarting my computer, re downloading itunes. everything but nothing seems to work. side not i manged to download the ios 5.1.1 for i phone 4 and now it says the firmware might be corrput. so if anyone can help it would be greatly aprriciated. i have i phone 4. ios 5.1 its was bought less then a year ago if the helps a bit better

IPad Mini wifi not working even after updating to 6.0.2
I have updated my ipad mini to 6.0.2 still it says "Unable to join the network". I have tried everything possible Restored it to the factory settings, erased network settings, hard reset ipad (as told by apple personnel). Also the following, as suggested by many:
1. Turn Off your iPad. Then turn Off (disconnect power cord for 30 seconds or longer) the wireless router & then back On. Now boot your iPad. Hopefully it will see the WiFi.
2. Go to Settings>Wi-Fi and turn Off. Then while at Settings>Wi-Fi, turn back On and chose a Network.
3. Change the channel on your wireless router (Auto or Channel 6 is best)
4. Go into your router security settings and change from WEP to WPA with AES.
5. Renew IP Address: (especially if you are droping internet connection)
• Launch Settings app
• Tap on Wi-Fi
• Tap on the blue arrow of the Wi-Fi network that you connect to from the list
• In the window that opens, tap on the Renew Lease button
Have also, removed encryption settings from my router even in that case it does not connect. HELP PLS !!!!I have the same issue, nothing I did fixed the problem, I would suggest if you can visit apple store and give us your feedback with them.
for me I can't go to apple store because I don't have any store near me, I will have to wait for 2 months to travel!
