That means that your backups are done to iCloud overnight. The phone must be left plugged in and wifi turned on.
If you are shutting your phone off at night - this is the reason for backups not being done.

Hi on my IPad Desk top I have the following message:
"This iPad hasn't been backed up in 2 weeks> Backups happen when the iPad is plugged in, locked and connected to Wi-Fi. When I tap Ok nothing happens.
The slide to unlock doesn't work wither. Can you help, please?Basic troubleshooting is reset, restart, restore (first from backup then as new). Has any of this been tried?
Just FYI, this is the iPhone forum. -

I can't operate my ipad due to icloud backup, msg showing this ipad hasn't backup in16 weeks. Now how to start n operate my ipad mini
Try a soft-reset : press and hold both the sleep and home buttons for about 10 to 15 seconds (ignore the red slider if it appears), after which the Apple logo should appear - you won't lose any content, it's the iPad equivalent of a reboot.
When it's rebooted you can force a backup via Settings > iCloud -

we have phase a problem in my i pad i pad desplayed this ipad hasn"tbeen backedup in 2 weeks.Backups happen whenthis ipad is plugged in, locked, and connected to wi-fi
I've been having this problem too and unfortunately your suggestion didn't work, neither does hooking it up to my computer and trying to back up through iTunes! I think Apple need to look into why this issue keeps happening to people but it seems impossible to get any proper Apple support unless you are willing to pay extra.

MY Ipad has become locked and is giving an error message . 'This Ipad hasnt been backed up in 2 weeks. Backups happen when this Ipad is plugged in, locked and connected to WiFi'' How can I connect it to WiFi when I cannot even unlock it?
Press and hold the power and home buttons until the device shuts down. After a short while the apple will appear and the device will boot up. Things should work then.

My ipad won't open anything. I get the message: This ipad hasn't been backed up in two weeks. Backups happen when this ipad is plugged in, locked, and connected to wifi. This device has beern plugged in and has 62% power. I can't access any buttons including the ok under the icloud backup message.
Have you tried a reset ? Press and hold both the sleep and home buttons for about 10 to 15 seconds (ignore the red slider if it appears), after which the Apple logo should appear - you won't lose any content, it's the iPad equivalent of a reboot.
