If you are indeed using 10.5.8 as indicated in your signature you will first need to upgrade to Snow Leopard; this is available in the Online Apple Store. You will then be able to uprade to Lion - again available in the Online Store where you will get a code to enable download from the App Store in Applications. This will enable you to use iCloud and run the latest iTunes.

  • Is the first mac book air (1,1) now obsolete?

    Hello,
Firefox told me to get a new computer.  With the limited knowledge I have and the searching I've done, I'm still not sure if there is a work around for me.  Has apple stopped updating/supporting the operating system on my notebook? (OSX 10.5.8) If so, from what I have looked at so far, I'm not sure if I can upgrade the operating system of my notebook.  Can I spend $30 and get "snow leopard"? (10.6.x)  Is that right?  I'm relatively new to the mac terminology, as this notebook was gifted to me.  It seems that if I can go to "snow leopard", I'll have support, but for how long?  Do you think it's worth $30?  Thanks for your help.

Welcome to the Apple Support Communities
You can use Mac OS X Snow Leopard. First, make a backup and call Apple to buy Mac OS X Snow Leopard > http://support.apple.com/kb/HE57 Then, use DVD Sharing (http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5287) or the USB SupeDrive to install Mac OS X Snow Leopard. Finally, go to Apple menu > Software Update and update to the most recent version

Yesterday I've bought the old mac book air, will Apple accept a return and replace it with the new one?

    Hi micjhal,
Call them up! If you look on your receipt it'll indicate you have 14-days to return it (if bought at a retail store) and 30-days if bought through the online store.

super keyword is used when there is inheritance (class extending other class). In your particular case, super keyword doesnt make sense, since there isnt inheritance between A and B. You can use the INT field by an instance of A class.
a keyword like "parent" does not exist in java.

  • Product specifications of the latest mac book air

Hi, I want to buy the latest version of the mac book air. How can I ensure that I buy the right one? What are the product specifications that I need to look at when searching online for my macbook air?
    Thanks in advance. Br, Debora

Hi again, sorry to insist but I just want to give you a concrete example
I saw the followiing on amazon
"apple MacBook Air MD231LL/A 13.3-Inch Laptop (NEWEST VERSION)"
Does this "MD231LL/A" attached to the product model mean something? Do I need to look at this code when I buy my mac book air?
    Thanks again for your reply.

There is no difference, you didnt get "shorted" Mavericks is a FREE DOWNLOAD
Open the APP store and download Mavericks.
You didnt buy a "clearance" item, you just got an Air that was there at the shop before Mavericks was released.
There is no difference other than a 40 min. download.

The warranty entitles you to complimentary phone support for the first 90 days of ownership.
If you bought the product in the U.S. directly from Apple (not from a reseller), you have 14 days from the date of delivery in which to exchange or return it for a refund. In other countries, the return policy may be different. If you bought from a reseller, its return policy applies.

  • Can you buy a mac book air in america then bring it back to england to use?

I will be going to america in the near future and was wondering whether if id be able to pick up a mac book air from an apple store over there. Should they work over here? Is there anything i should know ? thanks.

Yes, as other posters have said simply remove all packaging. Pick yourself a nice laptop bag and carry it on the flight as hand luggage, and don't declare it to customs! Buy yourself a 13amp US - UK plug and you're fine to connect the power cable to UK mains.
Also, if anything happens to go wrong with your Mac in the UK, so long as you are still in warranty it will be hounored in any UK Apple store.
    Good luck.

  • HT4796 iTunes music downloaded from pc to mac book air

I have just used the migration assistant to download my itunes  from my PC but it has gone into a separate folder when I open up my mac book air.
So now I can either log into that or my macbook.  is there a way of now putting all my music into the iTunes on the mac book without having to open the other log in every time?

  • XF Utility drops frames in playback on my Mac Book Air

    Hello,
I recently purchased a C300 and I am using a 2013 Mac Book Air to transfer media from the camera to external hard drives.
All works well except XF Utility drops frames when playing back footage from media that has been transferred to the laptops hard drive and also my external hard drives.  I am using the latest version of XF Utility (1.3.0) and here are the tech specs for my Mac Book Air:
Processor  1.7 GHz Intel Core i7
    Memory  8 GB 1600 MHz DDR3
Graphics  Intel HD Graphics 5000 1024 MB
My iMac desktop from 2007 plays the footage back with no dropped frames, no hiccupps.  I have a hard time beleiving that the latest the processor and graphics components on a 2013 MacBook Air cannot play back the footage without dropping frames.  Anyone have any ideas what might be my problem?
    Thank you.

    Hello jdbrunet,
We are not aware that this is a common issue with the footage shot with the EOS C300.  Since XF Utility seems to drop frames, the next thing to try would be another program to see if the footage drops frames there as well.  This would give us an idea if the issue is solely within XF Utility or the computer as a whole.
Desktops are generally more stable with regards to video processing because most Mac systems that are built for editing have more RAM and would handle the flow of video better.  You do not list the spec's for the iMac, so we cannot say this for certain.

  • Can a latest Mac Book Air get connected to a display screen?

Presentation at meetings require Mac Book Air get connected to a display screen.
A Mac Book Pro is possible to get connected to a display screen using a A1307 adopter.
Does any one know if the latest Mac Book Air connectable to a display screen using A1307 adopter or anyother means? I would be oblighed to know the possibility prior to buy one.
    Regards

The Thunderbolt port doubles as a Mini-DisplayPort. Thunderbolt is not the same as Firewire. However, Apple does sell a Thunderbolt to Firewire adaptor so you can connect Firewire devices to the computer. Thunderbolt devices may be daisy-chained, but a display monitor must be the last device on that chain.
According to what I found the A1307 adaptor is Mini-DisplayPort to VGA. It will not connect to a Firewire port.

  • Keep or sell my mac book air?

Last year I found a really great deal on a new mac book air and splurged and bought it. I love my iphone and ipad so I figured i'd love that. I don't have a desktop so I figured it would come in handy. Mostly when I ran into problems getting onto certain sites on the ipad. Well the mac book air sits. I rarely use it. My kids don't like it much either. I find it confusing so I mostly just use my ipad. I talked to a  store near here and they would buy it from me for $500. I'm on the fence about it. Why I don't know, because it just sits. Am I missing something to love about it? Do I really need it since I have my ipad?

This is a tough one. As an Air owner and a iPad 3 owner I can sympathize with the idea of both of them having considerable overlap in terms of use. On the one hand the iPad is lighter (though not much, especially with a keyboard), it's instant on, and the internet is built in. It's simplicity itself to go somewhere, open the cover and begin reading or watching a video or doing email (though I use a Logitech bluetooth keyboard for that). However, the iPad has it's weaknesses.
For one thing, if you use your computer to work (I remote into work with it) you NEED a conventional computer (in fact I have to use parallels 8 and Windows 7 VM). And with no file system, it's hard to organize your work. Page's files are pathetically inadequate for that kind of thing. Also the iPad lacks flash and that means certain websites are out of your reach on the pad. If you want to do photo editing, there might be some primitive capabilities on the iPad, but nothing you'd want to use much. Nothing compared to Aperture or Lightroom, or Photoshop. And again, large amounts of photographs need organizational capabilities the iPad lacks.
But if all you want to do is consume -- read ebooks, watch youtube, do email, use IOS games, etc., then the iPad is easier and more trouble free, and it's cheaper too. But even in that case, I'd use an external keyboard because I for one can't type worth anything on the iPad's virtual keyboard. It's hard to believe anyone would be able to use an iPad for their ONLY computer (for one thing, you really want a computer to sync the iPad to), but it's up to you. Why sync? If your iPad is damaged and you need to buy another one and you have a backup, you can just connect up the new one and all your work will be back. You can't really do that yet with the cloud, not completely.
