HT4759 I resurrected a iBook G4 running 10.11. How do I configure it and what APP and server incoming out going server do I use. Can I use Safari or FireFox?

I have resurrected an old iBook G4 running MAC OS 10.4.11.
I realize MobileMe has gone away and I get iCloud "is not supported". I can open MAIL but what SERVER address do I use? Can I use Safari or FireFox browsers with my current .mac.com address?

You can try using the settings described in this webpage: iCloud Mail settings in Tiger

  • I am running Mountain Lion Server, and the App Store indicates an upgrade to Server.App version 2.2.5. When I try to upgrade it will not install. Is that because OSX8 is no longer supported; and if so, is there an alternate source for this upgrade if

Mountain Lion Server.app no longer supported?

Probably  a long shot, but try resetting the App Store and Clearing Cookies.

  • HT4759 I have the icon above in settings.  How do I get into see what is in icloud?  Thanks

I have the icon above in settings.  How do I get into see what is in icloud?  Thanks

Thanks, but there's nothing in there I find that tells me how to get my Menu bar back. All of chatzilla's options are in the menu bar for any settings to be made. Without that, I have no hope of fixing what went wrong. I tried removing and reinstalling chatzilla, but that didn't work. My problem is that I lost the menu bar at the top of the chatzilla window. If I can't get that back, then I'll just have to deal with it until I'm able to buy a new machine, which I need anyhow. But being as this happened from something I did, there should be a way to undo what I did, or at least get back the menu bar.

  • My iphone 4S 64gb factory unlocked keep freezing when running especially the music and photo app; and it keep rebooting itself after every total battery drain; i'm on ios 5.1

i upgraded to the ios 5.1; and i realized that each time i have a comple battery drain and the phone goes off; when i connect the iphone to charge; it keeps rebooting itself. And the phone freezes when in the middle of applications; i have to stop the app and start it several times before it works; i have an iphone 4S 64gb factory unlocked

At first drain the battery till the iPhone gets off for many times isnt really a good thing read this:
    http://www.apple.com/batteries/
after that I think the only way that will help you is restore the iPhone and the bad news are that you should do it without restore a backup after cause you're problem could be saved in the backup of the phone too so you must manually reinstall apps, preferences etc etc

  • Arranging External Monitor on iBook G4 Running 10.4.11?

I have an iBook G4 running 10.4.11. I hooked up an external monitor and it came on no problem. However, I can only get it to mirror the laptop monitor. How do I get it so that it I can "Arrange" it? Is it not possible with this computer?
It has an ATI Mobility Radeon 9550...
    Thanks,
    R~

The iBooks only have the ability to mirror the internal display to an external display.

  • Resurrecting 2004 iBook G4?

I moved to an aluminum Macbook several years ago & neglected my old iBook. I now want to use it as a video viewer for my 4-yr-old daughter, but it's not working at all. When I start it, I get the blinking file folder/?. I have install cds for OS 10.1 & 10.2, but I think I purged all of the older discs years ago, thinking I'd never need them again. Is there some way for me to get this machine back to basic functions, e.g. DVD viewing & Safari for YouTube videos?
    Thanks,
    Nick D.

    Hi, Nick.
Which exact iBook model is it?
You can choose from this list:
    http://www.everymac.com/systems/apple/ibook/index-ibook.html
Which version of the operating system is it running now?
    How much RAM is installed?
What kind of optical drive does it have? (CD-ROM, CD-RW, DVD, Combo, or SuperDrive?)
Mac OS X 10.1 or 10.2 discs aren't going to do you any good because even the earliest iBook G4 shipped with Mac OS X 10.3 installed, and you can't use an earlier OS than that which came with the Mac.

  • What is the best way to run windows on my Mac? And What are the pitfalls I should watch for?

What is the best way to run windows on my Mac?   What are the pitfalls/

If you need Windows as your main operating system you would be better off buying a Real Windows PC.
Running windows on a Mac is always a compromise. Whether in a Boot Camp partition or in a Virtual Machine.
In boot camp you can't easily Re-Partition and or Re-Size the drive it is installed on. You can't use both graphics cards as Apple has limited Windows to use the discrete graphics only, that is if your mac has 2 graphics cards (15" MBPs), which will shorten the battery run time in Windows.
The trackpad only has limited functions in Windows, less then is available on the Mac side and a real Windows PC.

The battery on my 2004 iBook G4 runs down even when computer is shut down. I have looked at the

First you say that the battery runs down while the computer is shut down.
Then you say that the computer comes back on.
Which is it? Does the computer start up all by itself?
Have you tried resetting the PMU? The PMU (Power Management Unit) has control over both the sleep and charging functions, so resetting it may help.

  • Can't update ibook g3 running 10.4.11

    hello
I have an ibook g3 running 10.4.11 and i want to update it
but when I download the updater from the apple web site it gives me an error and says I cant continue. I need help
    Thanks

Which exact iBook model is it?
You can choose from this list:
    http://www.everymac.com/systems/apple/ibook/index-ibook.html
Mac OS X 10.4.11 is as far as you can update via download.
Not all iBooks are capable of running Mac OS X 10.5. Check out the system requirements here:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3759?viewlocale=en_US
If your iBook is supported for Mac OS X 10.5, you will need to buy the Leopard full retail installation DVD in order to upgrade. After installing Mac OS X 10.5, you can then download and apply the update to Mac OS X 10.5.8.

  • Ibook g4 running 10.4.11 will not find my iphone ?

I have just bought this ibook g4 running 10.4.11 but i cant download latest version of itunes and the itunes what is on it will not conect to my phone well saying that i did get it to conect once but it would not let me do anything i have read that i need to update to 10.5.8 but when i click search for updates it says all  programes are uptodate i am new to using apple mac so could any 1 help me please with some easy to understand info thanks.

You need to use a newer Mac OS X version. A G4 can be upgraded to 10.5.8(if desired, buy a retail DVD from a source such as Amazon or eBay), but you'll likely find it more cost-effective to buy a secondhand Intel Mac.

  • I can't install mac os 9 on my ibook g4 running 10.4.2

    Can anyone help?
    ibook g4   Mac OS X (10.4.2)

    Hi, jagehalperin -
    Welcome to Apple's Discussions.
No iBook G4 can boot to OS 9, however OS 9 can be used as Classic under OSX. Since that model can not boot to OS 9, no stand-alone OS 9 Install CD is usable (the installers on those will run only when the machine is booted to OS 9).
The solution is to install Classic from the original set of disks that came with the machine. One or more of these Apple KBase articles may help in doing that, depending which model iBook G4 you have and what version of OSX originally came with it -
Article #106294 - Mac OS X: How to reinstall Mac OS 9
Article #107383 - Mac OS X 10.2, 10.3: How to perform Mac OS 9 clean installation with Restore CDs

    Article #151871 - Mac OS X 10.3: Installing Classic

  • Ibook G3 running 10.3.9 transfer to a Macbook running 10.7.5.

I have an old Ibook G3 running 10.3.9 and would like to transfer its files to a Macbook running 10.7.5. I have one Apple cable that looks like a USB on one side and a phone charger on the other. I'd also be willing to do it wirelessly if possible. Any suggestions? Thanks for the help.

I have an iBook G4 running on OS X 10.4.11 and I just got a new ipod and can't figure out how to get it updated to be able to sync my ipod PLEASE HELP

You could go hunting for a fair price on a refurbished or restored Intel-based Mac or MacBook, as most early models of CoreDuo and Core2Duo can run Snow Leopard 10.6.8, and some much more recent.
The Apple Store's Special Deals section that is online has some fairly recent examples of hardware with an OS, original accessories as noted, power cord, and complementary one year coverage. Eligibility for extended AppleCare plans are noted & may be available for various items in the store. Subject to availability. Refurbished. Like new. The price difference can be about the same as the additional two year AppleCare plan may cost, so get that too.
Third party repaired restored or available through other channels vary in quality, quantity, condition, and may be lacking in some or most original accessories; they should include basic hardware as originally equipped and have the boot-install software disc set as intended for that build model & year specification, included.
Auction sites rarely have that much of a kit together, w/ missing discs, scruffy, extra fees, etc. On the other hand, companies that restore and repair Macs for a living and are authorized Apple service centers may have something, if you aren't in the market for something holiday new or really quick. Older models if reasonably refurbished can still shine years later.
    Hopefully this helps somewhat.
    Good luck & happy computing!
