I'm worried about what will happen if I delete my recent backup data from the phone I still own? Will I lose any progress in games that was saved in the backup?
I have an iPhone 4S and I keep getting those irritating notifications that tell me I need to upgrade my storage or free up space. I've deleted all I can from my music and photos without losing too many precious memories, but it's come to the point where I think I need to delete backups. However, I'm just worried that I will lose all and any log-in information that I don't remember and app/game progress that was saved to the iCloud. Please Tell me what will happen/what I can do?

If you are asking what happens when you delete an iCloud backup, it only deletes the backup from your account.  It won't do anything to the data on your phone or in your iCloud account.  If you don't need to backup you can delete it.  (If you no longer want to back up your phone to iCloud, turn iCloud backup off in Settings>iCloud>Backup.  Then your phone will back up to your computer each time you sync it with iTunes.)

  • What will happen if I delete sleepimage?

What will happen if I delete sleepimage? I've read through several posts here but I'm not clear exactly what this does and if there are some dire consequences if I delete this from my laptop to make more room on my HD. Any clarifications much appreciated!

This is a file that the contents of your computer's memory are written to when your computer goes to sleep. It will always be there, or recreated if it's missing, as long as you have a newer Intel based Mac with the new safe sleep mode.
Here's a [MacWorld article|http://www.macworld.com/article/53471/2006/10/sleepmode.html] explaining the sleepimage file.
As a general rule though, you really shouldn't be deleting files from the /private directory without knowing exactly what they are for... the directory is labelled /private for a reason

  • What will happen if I delete my husband's iCloud account from my iPad?

What will happen if I delete my husband's iCloud account from my iPad?

You can delete the iCloud Account from your device but that doesn’t delete your account on iCloud.com. You can still use the user name and password you selected when signing up for iCloud to log in on the iCloud website.

  • What will happen to the deleted entry in xml when publish sandbox?

    Hi,
In a MDS sandbox, If I delete something from a document, for example, one of xml element. when I publish the sandbox, what will happen? will the deleted entry disappear from the same document in mainline?
Is there any document explain this in detail?
    Thanks

    Hi,
wrong forum as this seems to aim for WebCenter uses. When you publish a change and metadata is missing for a document then resulting documents will not contain the components that you have removed. A Sandbox is a protection mechanism to try changes until you are happy with them. Once you switch them to become the actual version then new documents are applied with these changes. What were your expectations ?

  • HT5628 What happens to all of my files and what will happen to my iwork apps if I decide to switch to windows

I have recently wanted to switch to the windows platform so I could get more games from steam.  I was wondering what happens to all of my files and what will happen to Mac apps like iwork.  Will I have to purchase the microsoft version?

Nothing happens to your files and "Mac apps". You install Windows on a new partition separate from OSx. Read the Boot Camp manuals. http://www.apple.com/support/bootcamp/

  • What will happen if I delete an iCloud backup?

Okay. So I have an iPhone 5 which I've been backing up with iCloud.. I have a total of 5GB but only 638MB available. This isn't enough room to back up my phone. I don't really want to buy more space so I tried to create some by deleting apps etc but it didn't make a difference. Do I need to delete pictures? I don't have any music.. When I tap Manage Storage, there are two options saying both named Tasha's iPhone, one takes up 1GB and the other takes up 3.3GB. Could one of these be from my old iPhone4 ? Also what happens if I delete these? Will all my apps and pictures be wiped from my phone? Or can I just delete them both then back up my phone again?
    I'd really appreciate the help!
    Thanks
    Natasha

One of those backups are from your old iPhone, and you will note this because on your device's backup you will see "My iPhone" or similar under its backup name. You can delete the old one without any problem, as you are not using it to store files.
If you delete your device backup, you will lose your backups. If you do this, I recommend you to turn off iCloud backup in Settings > iCloud > Storage and Backup, and back up your phone every time you plug it to your PC or Mac with iTunes

  • What will happen if I delete the local disk's from my iPhone?

I want to free up storage space on my phone and a lot of the space is being taken up by 'Local Disk''s and I want to know what'll happen to my phone if I delete or remove them

Don't do that. Are you talking about the photo folders?

  • What will happen when I delete songs

I have an older gateway computer and with a 20 Gig hard drive. I just got a 60 Gig ipod (3X's the computer). My music library is 7 gigs. I want to sync up with itunes and transfer everything over to the ipod and then delete most the music off the computer to create more room. Will I run into any complications the next time i sync up with itunes and most the songs are gone. I am afraid to try this before I know what is going to happen.

You have to set up your iPod preferences in iTunes to update songs manually. If you are set to automatically update iPod and you delete songs from your computer then you will lose them on your iPod.
Now you will also have a problem with manual updates if you lose some or all of your music on your iPod. Unless you have the music backed up somewhere or have all the CDs to import music again this will be a problem. You will not be able to recover purchased music unless on a CD somewhere.
You might consider buying a bigger harddrive (Seagate has some great deals these days) or an external hard drive.
Hope this helps. Let us know.

  • HT1349 what will happen if i delete backup on my iphone for my sons ipod? would any data be lost from his ipod or my iphone? my storage is almost full

I received notification on my iphone thru icloud that my storage is close to being full, it is because my kids ipods use the same email address!  If i delete the backup for their ipods, will it delete any info from their ipods or my iphone??

I wouldn't delete the actual backup file, due to unforseen risks.
Try managing the content better, such as removing songs/apps/videos/photos, etc.

  • What will happen to the maps app of my 1st generation iPad once iOS 6 is released?

My iPad won't be able to upgrade to iOS 6. Will the maps app still get data from Google? Will it be a dead link on my home screen? Or will Apple delete it?

The Google Maps app is baked into iOS 5, therefore it will stay on your iPad. If you were to buy or upgrade a product with iOS 6 you wouldn't see Google Maps.

  • What will happen to my contact/apps when i sync my iphone to a restored pc

I recently reinstalled my OS and deleted all data, but now want to sync my iphone. i saved most of my data to a hard drive but a few things i have forgotten about, contacts/apps. will it delete my contacts now on the the phone? also itunes says it will delete all the apps but is it possible to get those back as they were purchased from my istore account

Would you care to post here the solution? or a link to it?
Many people including myself are losing their previous purchases and cant update broken apps anymore.
As of Sept. 2012 fact is: You keep your previously purchased and downloaded items. But you cant update them anymore after you change to new store.

  • What will happen if I delete ACTIVE logfile member

    hi gurus
    JUST FOR TESTING.
    Consider the situation as follows
I create a table, insert some rows into the table, then do a log switch. And then I remove the logfile which still in the "ACTIVE" states with operating system command.
Finally I shutdown and restart the database, the database complains that the logfile group does not
exist,so I drop the logfile group and open the database. I run a query against the table I created before, data still exists.
The result of the test make me fell strange.
Accornding to my knowledge, logfile in the 'ACTIVE' state means that the data protected by the logfile have not been written to the datafile. So I expect the table will not exists after I drop the logfile and then restart the database.
Why the data are still there?
    Thanks a lot.
