HT4897 How do I an alias? I can't seem to get off the landing page!!

I'm trying to create an additional alias (have one alias currently; two email addresses) and on logging in to iCloud mail, and I can't seem to follow the instructions on how to create an alias. The program won't let me move any further . . FRUSTRATED!!!

Are you going at icloud.com?
Once you login, click on Mail then the little wheel at the top-right to get into your preferences. There you should see an Account icon where you can manage your aliases.
Note that if you just deleted somes of your aliases, you may have to wait couple of days in order to create new ones.

I've loaded Firefox, I get led to everything other than how to use it. Why can't I just get a usable Web page?

I have uninstalled Firefox several times today. I attempted to reinstall and kept getting "update" pages that do not seem to lead to a Firefox browser. I've looked at the help pages and they lead to confusing but unhelpful sequences. I want to use Firefox to use bookmarks and to extend material that will be helpful to me as I pursue Web sites.
I'm not interested in complex and multilayered until I can get basic functions operating as I expect them to operate.
I started using Firefox 6 months ago and it worked fine. I liked it and it served me well. I recently updated to #37.0 and since then, I cannot get past the first page which instantly shifts to a page the give me options that are useless to me.
Shou0ld I drop some of the plug ins?

Can't get off the settings page. Cant turn on or off

Hullo there. My current problem is this, whilst on the ipad an alert popped up advertising some game or other for free d/load, when i tried to d/load it a message came up saying(i'll paraphrase here!) "you dont have enough storage left to d/load, go to settings,general+view your storage space, i did this and deleted a few of the "not so clever games" believing this would free up some space. Unfortunately i cannot get of the"settings" page i'v tried turning the ipad off to hope fully bring it back to normal but it will let me access any topic on the settings page but nothing else at all. i'm not heavy handed with it so i cant see how it could be a "button"issue cos i'd be able to switch it off. now i'v exhausted my solutions i dont know what to do, let it run out of power? it would come back to the same page when re-charged i think. Anyway i'v just plugged in the charger and it made the usual beep and shows its charging but thats all i can do!. I would appreciate any help or assistance in solving this wee dilemna that anyone in the ipad community can give.

Can't seem to get pass the trial has expired page even though I bought a plan.

I'm using a macbook. I bought the complete student and teachers package plan, but I don't seem to get pass the trial has expired join now page. Every time I install a software from my creative cloud I get the trial version of the software and for some, it tells me that trial is expired and it gives me two options, one to Join Now (which I've already done; I have a plan) and the other is to license the software, and since I registered online, I don't have a serial number so I don't know from where can I redeem the code. I tried everything, from uninstalling and reinstalling the softwares, to signing in from both the creative cloud software and the online website. I just don't know what more can I do. I bought this plan last night, and I need the softwares urgently.

Help with BBOD! Can't seem to get to the bottom of it. Have tried SMC reset, PRAM reset, reinstall of Mavericks, Carbon copy clone, checked my CPU, Memory is 500GB and I'm only using 250GB thereabouts.

Here's what I've tried;
SMC reset
Pram reset
Looked at activity monitor - mostly seems OK aside from a kernel task taking up memory (approx 460MB) but CPU is around 96% idle.
Fan seems to be running constantly - heats up noticeably when I close the MBP
Despite a re-install of Mavericks, MBP is running frustratingly slow. Just typing is enough to bring on the beach ball.
Have backed up everything, reinstalled from a clone, checked through Apple Hardware test and carried out a Verify Disk Permission - nothing was reported, erased the drive and set up again - problem still stands.
Memory is running at 3.43 GB without anything really running bar Safari.
A little loath to install SMC fan control without knowing what's wrong.
Checked software updates.
Can anyone tell me what the matter is? Does this have a fix?
Have been reading up various posts but to no avail so have resorted to posting myself.
Does this sound familiar to anyone?

1. This procedure is a diagnostic test. It changes nothing, for better or worse, and therefore will not, in itself, solve the problem. But with the aid of the test results, the solution may take a few minutes, instead of hours or days.
2. If you don't already have a current backup, back up all data before doing anything else. The backup is necessary on general principle, not because of anything in the test procedure. Backup is always a must, and when you're having any kind of trouble with the computer, you may be at higher than usual risk of losing data, whether you follow these instructions or not.
There are ways to back up a computer that isn't fully functional. Ask if you need guidance.
3. Below are instructions to run a UNIX shell script, a type of program. All it does is to collect information about the state of the computer. That information goes nowhere unless you choose to share it. However, you should be cautious about running any kind of program (not just a shell script) at the request of a stranger. If you have doubts, search this site for other discussions in which this procedure has been followed without any report of ill effects. If you can't satisfy yourself that the instructions are safe, don't follow them. Ask for other options.
Here's a summary of what you need to do, if you choose to proceed:
☞ Copy a line of text in this window to the Clipboard.
☞ Paste into the window of another application.
☞ Wait for the test to run. It usually takes a few minutes.
☞ Paste the results, which will have been copied automatically, back into a reply on this page.
The sequence is: copy, paste, wait, paste again. You don't need to copy a second time. Details follow.
4. You may have started the computer in "safe" mode. Preferably, these steps should be taken in “normal” mode, under the conditions in which the problem is reproduced. If you have more than one user, and the one affected by the problem is not an administrator, then please run the test twice: once while logged in as the affected user, and once as an administrator. The whole line will highlight, though you may not see all of it in the browser window, and you can then copy it. Copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C.
7. Launch the built-in Terminal application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Terminal in the icon grid.
Click anywhere in the Terminal window and paste by pressing command-V. The text you pasted should vanish immediately. If it doesn't, press the return key.
8. If you see an error message in the Terminal window such as "syntax error," enter
exec bash
and press return. Then paste the script again.
9. If you're logged in as an administrator, you'll be prompted for your login password. Nothing will be displayed when you type it. You will not see the usual dots in place of typed characters. Make sure caps lock is off. Type carefully and then press return. You may get a one-time warning to be careful. If you make three failed attempts to enter the password, the test will run anyway, but it will produce less information. In most cases, the difference is not important. If you don't know the password, or if you prefer not to enter it, press the key combination control-C or just press return three times at the password prompt. Again, the script will still run.
If you're not logged in as an administrator, you won't be prompted for a password. The test will still run. It just won't do anything that requires administrator privileges.
10. The test may take a few minutes to run, depending on how many files you have and the speed of the computer. A computer that's abnormally slow may take longer to run the test. While it's running, there will be nothing in the Terminal window and no indication of progress. Wait for the line
[Process completed]
to appear. If you don't see it within half an hour or so, the test probably won't complete in a reasonable time. In that case, close the Terminal window and report the results. No harm will be done.
11. When the test is complete, quit Terminal. The results will have been copied to the Clipboard automatically. They are not shown in the Terminal window. Please don't copy anything from there. All you have to do is start a reply to this comment and then paste by pressing command-V again.
At the top of the results, there will be a line that begins with "Model Identifier." If you don't see that, but instead see a mass of gibberish, you didn't wait for the "Process completed" message to appear in the Terminal window. Please wait for it and try again.
If any private information, such as your name or email address, appears in the results, anonymize it before posting. Usually that won't be necessary.
12. When you post the results, you might see the message, "You have included content in your post that is not permitted." It means that the forum software has misidentified something in the post as a violation of the rules. If that happens, please post the test results on Pastebin, then post a link here to the page you created.

Can't seem to get all the bookmark folders in alfabetical order

I have tried just about everything to get my bookmark folders in to alphabetical order most are right but at the bottom of the list there are quit a few folders that are not. I have tried the organize bookmark command than the view than sort than by name but it just wont do it.

I can't get all of my bookmarks in alphabetical order either and I find it utterly preposterous that something as simple as organizing bookmarks turns into a cumbersome search over the internet.
What is maddening is that there is something in Firefox that will alphabetize your bookmarks, but only in half-ass fashion leaving you to scratch your head and ask the question, "what were they thinking?"
What I mean by half-ass is that when I go to "Organize Bookmarks..." highlight the bookmarks menu and then select Views-->Sort-->By name I find that the book marks are not in order after I am done. Why have these buttons if they clearly will not work. I plan to video tape this and put it on YouTube to expose the utter stupidity in something that ought to be trivial.
Has anyone ever considered the case where a user has so many bookmarks that they NEED to be in alphabetical order?
Every computer on the planet organizes ALL files and ALL directories in order. So, tell me, where is the logic in the way Firefox organizes their bookmarks (seems to be chronological)? Chronological might be okay for a small number of bookmarks (like five or so) or recently bookmarked pages, but I have hundreds of bookmarks!
There's a reason why we alphabetize things. How does one find a book in a library?
In Firefox I have organized bookmarks in a directory (and I think this might even work), but this still doesn't address the issue I have with needing to have EVERY file and EVERY folder in ALPHABETICAL order! WTF? This is just idiocy.

Why does apple make it so difficult to contact them? I just want a follow up on a case I opened and can't seem to get to the right place. You can't follow up with the email because it's a no reply. Very frustrating.

Anyone have a link? I have been going round in circles for at least an hour. Not much fun with a home button that dosnt work.

My iPod sync's for hours but can't seem to get past the second song of 1221.

I have reset it to factory settngs but still no better.

Sounds like the song in question has something wrong with it? Can you uncheck it so it will not sync and see if the sync goes through?
If all is well you need to replace that track either from the CD you ripped it from or redownload from the itunes store at no extra cost. If sync then stops at another place then repeat the above until you have identified all your faulty tracks.
Itunes Store Select Purchased from the Quick Links Section. Navigate to the track in question, click on the cloud icon to redownload it.

Yes, I agree it someimtes annoying.. If I forget to unsubscribe, I'll be reminded when I see next day "Recieving messages 1 of 370..."
Have you tried going to "My Subscriptions", check-marking "GarageBand" category, and clicking "Delete". You may need to refresh the page to view the change you've made in "My Subscriptions" area.
Recently, (I'm not sure if this is your issue or not) I'd been having a problem when I click on "Cancel Subscription to Category" inside the iPod category, which I sometimes subscribe to, it says "You are not logged in, you have read-only access".
My solution to that was:
Logout.
Refresh the page.
Login again.
Refresh the webpage.
Click on "Cancel Subscription to category".
I believe that's what I do when that happens to me (it might be a variant of that, but along those lines).
It's a laborious method I will say, but it does work.

HT5622 I just got my iphone. I pushed the app button and it's stuck on the regulations. I can't do anything to bring the app page up. I set up my apple id but it just stays on that page.

Just got my iphone. It won't let me get off the regulations page. I thought I remembered that I pushed I agree. It seems to be stuck on there.

After four days it's definitely not doing anything. The spinning 'beachball' means it's siezed up. Can you click away from the window involved and get to the Finder? Try hitting command-option-escape and force quit anything listed there are 'not responding'. If you can't get that list up you'll have to force a shud down: hold the power button until it shuts down. Then try again with your fingers crossed.

If you migrated your MobileMe account before 1 August you should have signed into System Preferences>iCloud with it, and you would be able to see your calendars, bookmarks and emails on the iCloud website. Is this the case? Did you sign into iCloud with your @me.com address?
If you did not migrate your MobileMe account you can no longer do so.
If you did migrate, did you do so from a full MobileMe account or from a Family Pack sub-account? the latter did not get the complimentary storage (because their iDisks were only 5GB anyway).
If you had a full MobileMe account, check on your Mac - System Preferences>iCloud - and see whether that shows the upgrade. If it doesn't, you probably need to contact Support: if you currently happen to have AppleCare, either because you recently bought Apple hardware or have paid to extend the inititial period, you can contact them here:

You will need the serial number of the covered hardware.
If you are not covered by AppleCare, then - in common with other free email services - there is no free support (MobileMe Support is no longer available) and you may be asked to pay a fee: in this case you should ask them to deal with it without cost (and hope they agree).
Note that you haven't paid anything for your MobileMe storage since your first renewal date after 6 June 2011, and iCloud costs nothing unless you specifically choose to upgrade the storage. Also, I had to install the software twice on my same computer before because I had to reboot the computer. I don't know if this affects the limit.

You are allowed to have two activated installations so there should not be a problem having working installations on the two machines. If by chance you have somehow tied up two activations for the one machine you can have Adobe support help resolve that thru chat.
