HT4914 Purging downloaded iTunes Match songs from iOS to keep memory available.?

It states that if your iOS system downloads the music from iCloud as you listen to it so its there for listening when no wifi is available! How do you purge  the songs after listening so they don't take up space?

Hey there Chriskir,
It sounds like you would like to delete all the songs from your iPad but still be able to access them in iTunes Match. You can delete all the songs from the Music section of your Usage in Settings by swiping your music left:

  • Can not download iTunes Match songs on my Mac. iPhone, iPad work fine.

I can not download iTunes Match songs on my Mac. It gives an error stating that only one Apple ID can be used at a time with iTunes Match and asks me to wait 72 days until I can download any songs!? Tried to turn off iTunes Match in an attempt to reset it. And now I can't turn it back on. Has anyone else experienced this?

I'm pretty sure the songs will need to be physically present on the computer you are syncing the Nano with, but I'm not 100% sure.
Edit: I just attempted to sync music that I have stored in the iCloud, but not written on my harddrive to an iPod Classic and it only syncs the music that is present on the computer. I tried to grab a few iCloud file and throw it on the iPod, but I had to download them before it would work.
So, yes. You do have to have the files already downloaded to sync to a non iOS 5 iDevice.

  • How do you stop downloading itunes match songs to iphone 5

How do you stop downloading itunes match songs to iphone 5?
Cell data is turned off but it is still downloading.

When you initially enable iTunes Match on any iDevice it is wise to let it operate for a good period docked or with good WiFi.
Best route to stop it if essential is to switch off iTunes Match.

  • When I delete itunes match song from itunes, download icon is greyed out

Now that my songs are in the cloud, I want to delete my ripped version and download the iTunes Match version, but I can't see how since the download icon is greyed out. Anybody know how? Thanks!

The first thing to keep in mind is that not every track will be "matched." Some will be "uploaded." You need to enable the iCloud Status column in the iTunes browser to see what the track's status are. Switch to Song view and pull down View > View Options. Select "iCloud Status" then close the window. Now you will be able to see the status of the songs. Tracks with a status of "uploaded" are the exact same tracks that were on your computer.
If the streams are greyed out that generally means iTunes can not connect to the cloud. Look next to Music and see if the cloud icon is solid. If it is not quit iTunes, wait a few seconds, the relaunch it. This should re-establish the connection to the cloud and you will be able to download the tracks.

  • Cannot download iTunes Match songs - Getting error (8364)

My iTunes completed the Match process.
Generally, I have two kinds of songs with a cloud icon:
Songs that I had previously purchased, but were currently not in my library in any form. (No MP3 or AAC version.)
If I click on the cloud icon, these songs download just fine.
Songs that I had previously purchased, but were in my library in another form. (Usually as an MP3 - I had converted it to MP3 or ripped it from somewhere.)
The MP3 version will show as "Matched" and I will have an iCloud version right below it that shows with a iCloud icon and it has a status of "Purchased". But when I click on the iCloud, I get "There was a problem downloading [Whatever the song title is] An unknown error occured (8364). Please check that the network connection is active and try again."
If I try to click the same iCloud icon again, I get "There was a problem downloading [Whatever the song title is]. An unknown error occured (-50). Please check that the network connection is active and try again."
I can immediately go an download a song that fits case 1 above and it works fine.
I tried deleting the MP3 versions from my library first, and that didn't do anything. I get the same error.
iTunes Match isn't going to be all that useful if all my iCloud music isn't going to be able to be downloaded.
I also tried turning iTunes Match off and on again, and I tried restarting the computer too.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks!

I'm encountering the same problem, and related issues.  One Allan Parsons song I purchased ("Damned if I Do" from the Eve album) was listed twice after Match completed, with two different lengths and two albums listed.  Prior to running iTunes Match I only had one copy of it, so something is very broken in Apple land.

  • Downloaded iTunes Match Songs cut off halfway?

I'm on iTunes 10.6.3.65 on windows and apple better get this fixed quick coz this is getting on my nerves.
I've downloaded the entire iTunes match library twice and there are still songs that cut off halfway. any fixes for this?
P.S. This doesnt happen to my iphone if i download it right off itunes match, but it happens to my computer and my computer only. i have no idea *** is happening Grrr

    Everyone,
Boy is this a bug, but I fixed it. If you haven't by now, try this.
Select all, Delete, Yes, Keep Files.
Then re-add the same folder to your library.
    Enjoy
Stupid, but it worked for my iTunes files, burned CDs, old mp3s, everything. I'm mostly posting this b/c I didn't find the answer on the several posts I opened and this one is at the top of Google's list.

  • ITunes Matching songs from other stores

Is there a way to match songs that are only available on other stores i.e. iTunes US Store if they're not available on the Australian Store?

Although this question has been covered quite often:
In order to buy from a certain country's iTMS, you do need
either: a CC with a billing address in that country
or: an address in that country plus a prepaid card/gift voucher issued by iTMS in that country.
If you don't meet one of this conditions, there is no solution for you.
-sorry but the copyright holders wanted it that way.

  • HT204406 i want to download all the songs from itunes match back to my pc.  there are well over 2000 songs. instead of downloading one by one, is there a way to download all of them while I sleap?

I want to download all the songs from iTunes Match back to my PC (iTunes).  Instead of downloading one by one, can I have all the songs downloaded back to my iTunes by one shot (while I sleap)?

I just found the answer by myself.  Instead of clicking Cloud icon one by one, highlight all the songs in Cloud (after sorting by Cloud status) and riight click, download.  Now I am getting all the songs back to my local machine.  I will sync my iOS devices tomorrow and just GET RID OF iTUNES MATCH.  To me, it was a disaster.  Worse than their map app.

  • ITunes Match Broken After iOS 8 - Only downloads a few tracks, icons spin on every track in library

I have upgraded both my iPad Air and iPhone 6 to iOS 8.1, and iTunes Match is broken in two ways that make it unusable.
First, every single song on both devices (except those already downloaded to the device) has the "spinning wheel" icon as if I tried to download the song from the cloud... but I have not tapped Download on any tracks.  The iTunes Store "Downloads" list confirms that nothing at all is downloading.  If I tap one of those spinning wheels... it becomes a progress wheel and the track begins to download, and shows up in the iTunes Store's Downloads list.  So the icon for every track is just wrong, the little cloud-arrow replaced with a spinning (or sometimes stationary) wheel.
Second, and far more frustrating, is the "Download All" button at the top of a long playlist now downloads only the first 30-50 songs on that playlist.  After that it just does not try to download any others, confirmed again in the iTunes Store's Downloads list.  Every other song on my playlist has a stationary wheel icon (which is to say, not a spinning wheel but the same icon), and I have to tap every single one of those to get them to begin downloading.  I'm going on a long vacation with minimal internet service, I want to download a bunch of music onto my new iPad and iPhone, I have playlists that are thousands of tracks long... and now I have to tap every single song on every single one to download them for offline listening, which is just infuriating.
    Help!

Guess what!!!! I managed to fix it!
After much googling and experimenting - I can now download more than 25 songs in a playlist, and the songs don't get stuck with the red circle. The problem appeared to be, strangely, the syncing of folders of playlists in iTunes match.
    What I did
    - remove all music from phone and turn off Match
    - ensure music is available for syncing in iTunes on Mac (but ensure 0 songs are synced)
    - removed all folders from my playlists. Playlists do not reside in any folders anymore
    - update iTunes match manually from the Store menu
    - turn on match from iPhone, and download a playlist
That worked, remarkably. Some kind of buffering/caching issue when match tries to download from a playlist within a folder? How weird. Let me know if that works for you.

  • Hello, my iTunes dates are crashed on my mac, how can I download all my itunes match songs and save on my mac?

Hello, my iTunes dates are crashed on my mac, how can I download all my itunes match songs and save on my mac?

    Hi mrmoo13!
You have a couple of options for transferring your music library from one computer to another. First, you can download all of your music that is stored in the cloud on iTunes Match by following the instructions on this page:
iTunes 11 for Mac: Access all your music anytime, anywhere with iTunes Match
    http://support.apple.com/kb/PH12284
You can follow steps listed in the section right here:
Play or download songs from iCloud
You can play songs directly from iCloud, or you can download songs so you can play them when you’re not connected to the Internet.
If a song is available in iCloud, it has a Download button next to it.
To play the song, double-click it.
To download the song, click the Download button.
After you download a song to a computer, it remains in the computer’s iTunes library, even if you turn off iTunes Match.
To only display downloaded songs in your iTunes library, choose View > Hide Music in the Cloud. This also hides any previous iTunes Store purchases you haven’t downloaded.
For information about downloading and playing songs on an iOS device, see the documentation for the device.
In order to make it easier to download all of your music, you can highlight all of the songs in your iTunes Match section and then click download, as mentioned in these instructions.
You can also choose to transfer the music from your old computer to the new one by following the steps in this article, whcih will give you some other options for doing this transfer:

  • TS4124 What causes iTunes Match, on an iOS device, to lose the cloud icon next to each song?

What causes iTunes Match, on an iOS device, to lose the cloud icon next to each song. On my iPad 2 and iPhone 4S one cloud shows up for a whole album to tap and download a whole album but the ones next to the songs are no longer there. No songs will delete from my phone once downloaded from the cloud by sliding my finger to the left over the song and tapping delete. Instead it just plays the song when I try to delete it. To delete my music from my device I have to go in to settings and delete all the music. This worked fine for the first week and then one day the cloud status next to each undownloaded song disappeared and started doing this.

Try sync Music from iTune to your iPad again.

  • WHen I put music onto my devices I will have some songs that will play, while others will be grey and can not be played....also I find that when I purchase an album from iTunes all songs from the album will not be downloaded...

WHen I put music onto my devices I will have some songs that will play, while others will be grey and can not be played....also I find that when I purchase an album from iTunes all songs from the album will not be downloaded...

    Try:
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Unsync all music and resync
    - Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
    - Restore from backup. See:
    iOS: How to back up
    - Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.
If still problem, make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store since it appears you have a hardware problem.
Apple Retail Store - Genius Bar
    If necessary
You can redownload most iTunes purchases by:
Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store

  • I bought Itunes match, when can I delete the songs from my Ipad? It's memory is full and I bought Itunes match in order to free some memory space

I bought Itunes match, when can I delete the songs from my Ipad? It's memory is full and I bought Itunes match in order to free some memory space. I already activate the itunes match in the Ipad, but it still keeps the songs. Can I erase them?
    Thanks,

    Hi,
Go to settings > general > usage > storage and select music. You will see how much space is being used. Swipe to delete.
This will clear cache. Streaming uses up storage space. If you have specifically downloaded tracks you can delete them individually. Will still appear on your ipad but with the download icon.

  • HT201272 Downloading matched songs from the cloud...what am I missing?

I subscribed to iTunes Match and I want to download the matched songs/albums from the cloud but I can't figure out how...I'm sure I'm missing something simple, please help!

I had the same exact problem. I would set my imac to download a batch of songs by iTunes match, I'd go do something else and every time I would come back to a crashed computer. No "Force Quit" possible, just plain crashed. So I would start it back up and have a go again. Finally after several days, I realized that it was a handful of specific songs that were the culprit. Now I don't mind if there's a glitch with a few songs. It was the fact that it ALWAYS crashed my mac. Come on iTunes team!
I found this article on Apple's support siten which has you restart iTunes Match:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS4054?viewlocale=en_US&locale=en_US
It fixed a couple of the songs, but still the crashing on the remaining dozen. It appeared that the download was trying to reconnect with a previous attempt and for whatever reason, it caused it to crash. So after lots of trial and error, here is the solution for downloading a song that won't download (I don't think this is on Apple's support site):
    1. Start playing the song. The iTunes Match cloud server will be forced to reinitiate a new download.
    2. Watch the grey bar creep to the end of the load.
    3. Right-click and download the previously undownloadable track!
    Cheers, MiniC
