HT5330 If I move from Mac/Mobile Me email to iCloud, will my current account's email vanish?

Probably a silly question. I am running Snow Leopard and for a couple of days have not been able to send mail from my long-time Apple email account. I have started the move from Mac/Mobile Me email to iCloud, when all I really need is to enable the iCloud SMTP server, I think.
When I was a few steps into the move, I reached the point where I had to either "continue" with my current email address/password, or create a new email account If I follow Apple's direction and "add" an account with my core user info, will I end up with "my" account as iCloud, but with my current account's email "vanished?"
I go back far enough that my Apple user name is not an email address, and my email address is dot.Mac, and I'd like to keep it that way, but right now I just want to be able to "send." Since my problem began I have been writing and then saving emails on my iMac, then opening them on my iPad or iPhone and sending the emails from those devices. Thank heaven for IMAP!!!!

[email protected] [email protected] and [email protected] are all the same thing: emails to all three go to the same inbox. You must presumably have gone through the migration process from MobileMe to iCloud before 1 August last, or you would have lost access to the account. However if you didn't set up Mail for the different iCloud server settings I wouldn't have expected to go on working this long.
In any case, I would suggest you delete the account from Mail (this won't delete anything on the server) and set it up again from scratch following the process described in this illustrated article:

Removed Movie from .Mac Web Gallery But Broken Link Remains?

I published a movie to my Web Gallery successfully. I then tried to republish but got two movies in the Gallery. One movie worked and the other was a broken link. I removed the movie from .Mac using Share>Remove From .Mac, and the working movie was removed. But I am still left with a broken link in the Movies section of my Web Gallery. How can I remove this broken link?
I checked my iDisk and found \Web\Sites\_gallery, but I can't find the index file for the gallery (only folders for the albums).

I'm having the same problem (broken links after a republish) -- and a few others:
1) After about the first time, I have been unable to remove a movie from the gallery. I just get a connection error. I'm able to add movies (somehow the connection magically works) but removing fails most of the time.
2) When adding a movie, for some reason, the title of the movie ends up replacing the "My Gallery" title for my entire web gallery. On the web gallery home page (over my photo albums and videos) it shows the title of the first video.

As long as you can drop the mpeg into iTunes you should be able to sync it from iTunes to your iPad with the supplied cable in the usual way you'd sync anything else from iTunes to your iPad.

While formatting an external drive with a Mac format is best if it will be used only with a Mac, if the files on the drive have to be accessible to a PC also, it's possible to format it in an exFAT format, which both the Mac and a PC can read from and write to. However, if you do that, do the actual formatting while the external is connected to the PC.

Google it. There are many from the top level 'Roxio Toast' down to free burning apps such as 'Burn'. Depends on how much you wish to spend and the quality and presentation of the DVDs you wish to make.

The iPad is fine. But the computer you're syncing with needs to be authorised with the Apple ID that was used to buy the material on the iPad. You do this by picking the 'Authorize' item from the menu in iTunes and entering the account name and password.

I'm not sure if you are referring to how long it's taking or why it varies.
The first thing to check would be your internet download speed, you can do this at www.speedtest.net.
1080p HD movies require a recommended speed of 8 Mbps, 720p HD movies require a recommended speed of 6 Mbps, while SD movies require a recommended speed of 2.5 Mbps.
If your internet speed varies, the time will be recaculated from time to time.

Is anyone else having problems with their .mac or .me email being bounced by Cisco Ironports? Mine recently began bouncing when sending email to my wife at work. She investigated it with their IT team and got the following response.
We did some research and with the system administrators assistance we've figured out what is causing this. Seems that a lot of @mac.com accounts have been compromised lately and have earned themselves a bad reputation with our spam blocking service, Cisco IronPorts. What this means is that it's not any settings on either side, nor anything we control but it is in Apple's court to remedy the issue with their e-mail servers to get a proper reputation again. This is causing e-mails to be blocked from @mac.com, @me.com and @icloud.com accounts worldwide.

I have also been having this issue for the last several weeks. Apple seriously needs to adjust whatever is causing outbound emails to get flagged. Apple also has the ability to work on their end to remove accounts that cause our email accounts to be lumped in with those causing the bad reputation. They also have the ability to work with upper level people at the companies where the rejection as spam is occuring, to help create specific algorithms to work around this for those not at fault. This has caused major disruptions in my business and is strangly unpredictable. Sometimes I get rejected, and sometimes it goes through to the same address. It doesn't make any sense to me but then again, I'm not a programmer. APPLE, PLEASE FIX THIS!

I am experiencing the same thing. I have many books that I used to read on my iPad.
Now on iBooks in Mavericks all my books downloaded correctly apart from two which I really want to work (The Lean Startup and Communicating The User Experience).
When I download both using the cloud icon just when it reaches 100% I get this message:
[Insert Book Name] failed to download
To try again, select Check for Available Downloads from the Store menu.
When I check for available downloads it says I have already downloaded all my books.
Anyone know how to fix this.
I do realise that this is only v1 of iBooks so I hope Apple sorts it out soon.

If you have folders of assets outside of the main website folder on MobileMe, download them from the Apple server. From the Finder Go menu, follow the path iDisk/My iDisk/ to get there. Your website files are in the Web/Sites folder. Drag any files/folders onto the desktop.

Connected to WiFi? No Firewalls in operation? Have at least 50MB's of free space on your phone? Have enough space in iCloud...Settings>iCloud>Storage/Backup>Manage Storage>Select your phone.

Watch movie from Mac Air to tv without AppleTV

Can I use a Thunderbolt to hdmi cable to watch movies from my MacAir without having to go through AppleTV? I have been successful getting the video to show up, but no audio was sent to my TV.

I'm a Mac person. That's the first thing I tried. There is no setting other than internal speaker or Airplay via my netwrok. It appears that this cannot be done and my Air is new this past summer. Would have thought this would have been adressed.

Unable to stream movies from mac

This problem is making my AppleTV almost unusable.
Never had a problem playing movies stored on my iTunes on my MacBook Pro on the AppleTV until the last update. Now when I attempt to select a movie, it takes upwards of 10 minutes for the movie to start playing.
I've done all the basic troubleshooting I've seen online. I have an Airport Extreme on the network running 802.11n, the signal strength on the AppleTV is excellent, the MacBook Pro has excellent signal strength (all wireless), I've checked for updates, verified network settings. Not sure what else to do. I used to have no problems at all watching movies on the AppleTV, now it's painful.
I have crappy Satellite Internet, but have had that for years, although I can stream a video from youtube over my Satellite Internet better than watching a video stored on my Mac.

I'm having a similar problem with my rented movies. I rented a movie from my iMac, and am trying to view it on my Apple TV, and I'm getting the error message that the content could not be loaded. I get the flower petal circle indicator, then the screen switches to what looks like the movie starting (the movie time indicator is now at the bottom of the screen), and then I get the error message.
