Yes usse the same ID. However, they will need their own email addresses for FaceTime and Messages

Yes you can all have different iCloud accounts, indeed it is something that I would recommend.
To create a new Apple ID (account) navigate to settings >iCloud and tap the "create Apple ID" button.
Note: if you are already logged into another iCloud account, you will need to scroll down and delete that account, before you can create a new one.

What is your recommendation to manage all of our devices (iphones, itouch, apple tv) for my family? Can I continue to function with one apple ID or is it time to take the leep into attempting to manage multi-apple ID's?

To restore the classic menu bar, you can do any of these:
orange Firefox button > Options > Menu Bar
tap the Alt key > View > Toolbars > Menu Bar

If your computer starts image capture or some other camera software you should be able to quit that and then your iPad will show up in iTunes. Mine does this all the time.
The preference on what to start up when a "camera" is connected is found in Image Capture. So start Image Capture. It's in the applications > Utility folder. Then look for preferences. In my version it's in the lower left corner. Select None or Nothing and quit the program. From then on your iPad should show correctly in iTunes. But you will most likely have to start your smear software manually when you do connect a camera to your computer.

You would need to use one Apple ID for purchases in order to get them across all of your devices and computer. If you want you can use one Apple ID for purchases and the other one to sync personal data. The article below will explain further.

As far as recycling, they will take one, dead or alive, so I assume a shattered one would qualify just as well.

Problems I have found with IOS7 and Ipad

1. The updated Apps will not disappear from the App Store.
2. When you type ios7 capitalizes the first two letters in the sentence not just one.
3. Decreasing the motion changes nothing. There should be a way to stop the motion.
4. The Ipad takes longer to charge and discharges faster.
5. When grouping Apps they take more room so more scrolling is needed.
6. The Ipad has become jerky and slow switching between Apps.
7. Sound is buggy. Five reboots so far.
Only my top7 and I thought IOS6 was the worst. I was wrong.

Here are my thoughts on points raised.
1. Updated Apps aren't supposed to disappear from the App Store. Since you can now set Apps to auto-update how are you supposed to know what was updated and when if there is no history present for updated Apps? It's there by design.
2. When I type iOS it appears as iOS regardless of whether I type it as ios it will auto-correct to iOS. To resolve this either keep correcting the iOS manually until the system accepts it or go to Settings>General>Reset>Reset Keyboard Dictionary.
3. Turning on Reduce Motion will stop the wallpaper 'movement' when you tilt your device side to side/up and down. If this isn't working for you then try a Reset. With the device on hold down both the Sleep & Home buttons until the Apple logo is displayed.
4. Fair enough comment, personally not noticed any difference but some users have, I'd expect Apple to fix this as they've done in previous versions of iOS.
5. Apps grouped in to a folder will still display a maximum of 9 as they did before, the difference now is that more than 9 can be stored in a single folder and like a home screen it will create a new 'page' within the folder which can be swiped left/right.
6 & 7. Try a reset as outlined in 3.

IPod and ipad won't let my apple Id be used for iMessage or face time

My iPod and my iPad last week decided to sign me out of FaceTime and iMessage after nearly a year of use, and just displayed the error message appeared that my apple Id or password had changed this made no sense so I went and changed my password no success. Next I tried rebooting both devices no change. Then I closed down all the apps and tried no change. Next I tried to sign in via settings this time I got the message that you need to verify your account and an email has been sent. No email recieved and so I still couldn't sign into iMessage or FaceTime. Next I tried signing in on my sisters iPod touch and it gave me the same error so I asked her to sign in on my devices and it allowed her. So i realised the issue is with my account is there a way of checking that my account can still be used for iMessage or a way of seeing if my account has a error or glitch, or should I create a new account.

You can start a new Apple ID, just understand all purchases made under an Apple ID are forever associated with that ID and can't be switched to a new one.
The requirements of an Apple ID is that it be from a valid email account.

Since many apps are free, they can be repurchased free with a new Apple ID.
If you purchased valuable apps under your ID, get a new one for your daughter. Or visa versa.
You can continue to keep them in one computer library which will allow you to sync them to all devices.
Updates will require the Apple ID and password from the purchasing Apple ID.

Launch iTunes on your computer.
From the menu bar click Store / Authorize This Computer
Connect the iPod.
From the iTunes File menu click: Transfer Purchases From ...

Thanks. I was afraid it would be something like that. I bought it off my NIH grant from Apple, so there is no problem proving ownership. Since I can easily live without iPhoto and iMovie on that computer, I probably won't bother, unless it prevents me from updating the OS when 10.9 comes out. The strange thing is I can update stuff like Xcode (which I absolutely need) without a problem. It appears to be just the apps that Apple both sells and provides with a new computer

Click "Browse my computer for driver software."

In the "Install from Disk" dialog, click the Browse button.
Use this window to navigate to the following folder:
C:\Program Files\Common Files\Apple\Mobile Device Support\Drivers.
Double-click the "usbaapl" file. (This file will be called "usbaapl64" if you have a 64-bit version of Windows. If you don't see "usbaapl64" here, or if there is no Drivers folder, look in C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Apple\Mobile Device Support\Drivers. instead).
