HT5731 How can I choose an option to buy movies with captions for the hearing impaired?

Captions for the hearing impaired. Are they available when buying from iTunes ?

They are available, but it's the film studio that has to include them on a particular film.
Those that have closed captioning on them have CC against them on their description pages in the store e.g.
Whether a film has subtitles available on it should also be listed on its descrition page e.g. (from a different film to the above CC film) :

  • Apple TV 2 - Can it display closed captions for the hearing impaired?

I have not seen a direct answer to this question anywhere, even on the web. If I buy a movie/TV show DVD, I get closed captions. If I rent or buy from iTunes or some other source, does this mean there are no closed captions to display, or does it mean that Apple TV 2 cannot display the closed captions? It is especially helpful with British shows. We use closed captions all the time for everything else. If it cannot be displayed, Apple TV 2 is largely useless for us. Note: many Boomers (we with the money to spend, not the 15 year olds!) have damaged hearing- they should be included in marketing.

The easiest way to find videos with closed captioning is to select Column Browser->Show Column Browser from the View menu in iTunes. Select a category and then look for titles displaying the CC icon. You can then rent them in iTunes or find them in the Menu in the ATV and rent them there.

  • HT1338 WHAT IS 802.1 MEANING? HOW CAN I CHOOSE ABOUT OPTION INSIDE BETWEEN 802.1WEP OR WPA ENTERPRISE? WHAT'S DIFFERENT? T

WHAT IS 802.1 MEANING? HOW CAN I CHOOSE ABOUT OPTION INSIDE BETWEEN 802.1WEP OR WPA ENTERPRISE? WHAT'S DIFFERENT?

802.11 refers to a document that specifies how wireless networking works. It goes into detail about the radio signals, frequencies, signal strengths, encoding of data, etc. From a practical standpoint, the typical person really only care about a couple of things: speed and encryption.
802.11b - describes networks that transmit 11 mbps using a 2.4 GHz radio frequency
802.11g - describes networks that transmit 54 mbps using a 2.4 GHz radio frequency
802.11n - describes networks that transmit up to 600 mbps using 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz frequencies
n is faster than g which is faster than b. The speed of a network connection is limited to the slowest part (so, if you have an 'n' router, but your laptop only supports 'g', you get the 'g' speed).
WEP, WPA, and WPA2 refer to data encryption schemes specified in parts of the 802.11 document. With Wi-Fi, you are broadcasting your network activity over a radio, and it's pretty obvious that anyone could eavesdrop on the transmission. By using cryptography, you can scramble the data being passed back and forth so that the sender and receiver still understand the messages sent, but an eavesdropper cannot.
WEP is a very simple encryption scheme, one that the methods to decrypt the data is pretty straight-forward. It's not effective against someone that wants to intentionally eavesdrop on your activities (or access your computer) because they can use software to determine the password simply enough.
WPA and WPA2 are improvements over WEP that make cracking the password even more difficult (WPA2 being better than WPA).
The "enterprise" version of WPA2 refers to a variation on WPA2 that requires special security servers, security certificates, and other complicated systems most likely only applicable to a corporate or military environment. It's impractical for a home or small office.
To connect to a wireless network, you generally don't have to worry about the encryption used since the computer will receive a notice from the wireless network about how it is setup and use the appropriate method. It's probably good for you to pay attention whether the network you are connecting to is secure or not.
If you are setting up a network at home using a cable modem or broadband router, or even just a Wi-Fi access point, you want to set it up to use WPA2 unless you have some very old computers that only support WPA. You should avoid using WEP.

  • I can't find an option to add a recovery email for the purpose of resetting my security questions. There is also no option when I am in the "manage my account" area that lets me reset my security questions. How can I reset them?

I can't find an option to add a recovery email for the purpose of resetting my security questions. There is also no option when I am in the "manage my account" area that lets me reset my security questions. How can I reset them?

    1. See my User Tip for some help: Some Solutions for Resetting Forgotten Security Questions: Apple Support Communities.
    2. Here are two different but direct methods:
        a. Send Apple an email request at: Apple - Support - iTunes Store - Contact Us.
        b. Call Apple Support in your country: Customer Service: Contacting Apple for support
            and service.

  • This is so basic: How do you turn off Apple TV, or do you just exit by changing the Input back to regular TV? When I put Apple TV to sleep, I had to log in again, a very tedious process with that awful "announcer" for the hearing impaired (how to remove?)

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
The Apple TV will put itself to sleep. I'm not sure what you needed to log into again, but you shouldn't have to. Do you have a little more detail about what happens.

  • How Can I choose Iphone 5s models that work with LTE in Brazil. The Iphone needs to Support Band 7. If I buy the wrong model can apple change it ?

I am planning to buy an Iphone 5s in October, but I have to make sure that the model will work with the LTE services we have in Brazil. I know that Apple made 2 Models that support Band 7. See Below.
    Model A1457*: UMTS/HSPA+/DC-HSDPA (850, 900, 1900, 2100 MHz); GSM/EDGE (850, 900, 1800, 1900 MHz); LTE (Bands 1, 2, 3, 5, 7, 8, 20)
    Model A1530*: UMTS/HSPA+/DC-HSDPA (850, 900, 1900, 2100 MHz); GSM/EDGE (850, 900, 1800, 1900 MHz); FDD-LTE (Bands 1, 2, 3, 5, 7, 8, 20); TD-LTE (Bands 38, 39, 40)
How can I make sure I will buy the correct model through the internet ? Can Apple change the Iphone In case they send the model that does not support LTE services in Brazil ?
    Thanks,

Have you personally tried those models with Brazilian LTE networks? Do they work? If so, fine.  If not, then besides that, there is the problem of the warranty which is not international. The user will have to return the phone back to the country of purchase for both warranty and out of warranty service. So what might seem cheaper at first glance might not be in the end.
Anyways, it your money and the OP's should he want to go ahead with your recommendation.

  • Hi I use Osx 10.9.4 and FCPX 10.1.2  How can I choose a CD format which will be playable outside the World of Apple? i.e. in a 10 year old CD player in my old car

I am trying to make a CD for a Children's Hospital where I used imported tunes from iTunes into FCPX, then sharing and burning in .AIFF or .WAV extensions for the CD.  When I do this I can play the CD on any Apple machine but not in a non Apple Device such as in a CD player in the Hospital, or my car.  I would like to be able to play the CD outside the Apple domain. Any Ideas?  Your suggestions would be most helpful.  Thank you

    PS
I use an iMac OXS 10.9.4 and FCPX 10.1.2

YYou should do this in iTunes not in FCP.

  • How can I upgrade my iCloud account's storage but pay for the upgrade with another Apple ID?

I want to upgrade my iCloud account so that I can back-up my iPhone, however I would like to pay for the upgrade using a different Apple ID than the Apple ID associated with my iCloud account. I can not figure out how to do this, when I hit buy after selecting my desired plan it wants be the buy the upgrade with the Apple ID my iCloud account uses. Please help!

I don't think that's possible.  (If you're trying to get it on another credit card, one option would be to purchase an iTunes gift card with it and redeem it to create an iTunes store credit.  Storage upgrades will first charge your iTunes store credit before charging your card.)

  • How can I delete pages in a PDF document with Reader for iPad?

Is there a way to do this within Reader? I know you can do it with MAX PDF or PDF Splicer, but I was hoping for a native way to delete - for example - 2 pages from a 10 page document and then resave it to Dropbox, email it, or something along those lines...
I assume if you cannot delete, then you cannot merge 2 documents into one?
    Thanks

I figured the app might have that ability - considering you can add text, highlight, add a signature, annotate and draw - so my thought was why not delete a page, or rearrange for that matter?.. That should be an option, this way we don't have to export to one of the other apps to delete or rearrange..
    Thanks for the help, Bernd.
BTW if anyone is looking - PDF Max can do all of the above and delete and rearrange. With PDF Splicer you can delete and rearrange as well, but it has no other features.
And as for Steve Werner whose comment was deleted after it got to my inbox, it is much more than a Reader, as you can plainly see from the amount of tasks the Reader app can do above.

  • How can I synchronize my Contacts in my iMac with those in the Cloud?

I have tried to sinchronize the Contacts in my iMac,  but it doesn´t work.  I have linked my iMac to iCloud.  When I go to iCloud directly through Internet,  I can see the "Contacts" I haver in iCloud.  I have 6,624 contacts.  The list of contactas can be seen in both iCliud and on my Mac.  But when I add new contacts in my iMac  (today I added 4),  it doesn´t synchronize.  The new contacts do not appear in the Cloud.  How can I establish a good link so synchronization can effectively take place?  Chaparro.

Sorry.  This is the answer to your observation.
I checked your point and in my Address Book I found 2 categories:
    "All Contacts"
    "All iCloud"
I didn´t find anything else.  I am sinchronizing from  "All iCloud".   In both cases,  my data base of contacts is 6,563 contacts.  This is the "baseline-data",  since yesterday I did succeed in sinchronizing my iMac,  my Mac Pro,  my iPad and my iPhone in order to share this database.  So my first step was a success.  I did succceed in sinchronizing all 4 devices to share the same Contacts List  of 6,563 contacts.
Then I added 11 new contacts to my main computer which is the iMac,  increasing the database to 6,574.  Surprisingly,  the iMac interacts perfectly well with the MacPro,  since thay are less then 10 feet away in the same room.  So I got full and "real-time" direct sinchronization between the iMac and the MacPro.  But the 11 new contacts have not shown up in iCloud.  And more then 24 hours have gone by,  and the sinchronization with iCloud is not taking place,  despite the fact that the INITIAL sinchronization did take place successfully.  Since the 11 new contacts have not shown up in iCloud,  they don´t show up in the iPad or in the iPhone either.

  • How can i fill selection box on html form with data on the clientside?

    hi
i want to make a html form that reads option values from the client.
Because there are too many data, it's not reasonable for me to design a page which connects to server each time to fill the selection boxes.Instead i want to check if data resides at the clientside, if so fill selection boxes with that data, if not download it for the first time and store it on the client for later local retrieval. In addition i must be able to update that data residing on the client when i want.

Don't see where Java comes into this. Sounds like you'd be using JavaScript on the client.
A cookie would probably be the only way to save data on the client.

  • How can I load and process an HTML5 file with Javascript in the same way as an XML file?

I maintain a diary in local weekly files that I am converting to HTML5 from XHTML. I wish to extract all the "articles" about particular topics from these files and display them in different orders. It is possible to load an XHTML file using the loadXMLDoc function described at http://www.w3schools.com/dom/dom_loadxmldoc.asp but the same function detects a parsing error when it reads an HTML5 file. (For example, the parser expects an empty element's tag to end with />). How do I persuade Firefox 16.0.1 to use an appropriate parser?

  • How can i use apple tv and iTunes movies with component video cables for an older receiver and projector?

i have an older yamaha receiver and projector both without hdmi inputs but component video instead. I would like to get apple tv and start renting movies through iTunes but apple tv only supports hdmi and ive read that iTunes has codes to prevent the use ot analog cables with movies. Is there a way to adapt hdmi to component video for both apple tv and iTunes easily?

Yes, HDMI is the only supported method. Also, with converters you will run into issues with HDCP (which will prevent you from streaming DRM content from iTunes etc) as well as resolution.
