How do i open winmail.dat attachments in mail ?

Having problems with Winmail.dat attachments?  This is really Windows problem but their hubris will not allow them to admit it.
Windows does have a global fix for this problem but it is not a general patch - in their KB there is a fix for Exchange servers which cause the winmail.dat problem but most users don't know about it or have it implemented.

Here is a solution that Apple users can get for $30.  An Austrian program and APP called Letter Opener http://www.creativeinaustria.com/http:// is the solution to seamlessly opening Winmail.dat files.

If you did not edit the Cellular Data Network settings on your iPhone and you are unable to use Cellular Data Network services, try turning off and then turning on iPhone. If the issue persists, contact your carrier about the availability and provisioning of these services on your wireless account.

    How do I open Winmail.dat?

In Outlook, I changed the setting for how the mail sent to each typoe to resolve the issue. I created one email per setting and addressed to both people on their corporate exchange account (same server for both) and their gmail accounts. This is where the confusion arose since one phone receives fine and the other doesn't. I used Gmail as an alternate mail client with the same result.
So basically I used two different clients each time sending to four addresses two are located on each phone. Phone A always receives a winmail.dat file no matter which client or email address is used. Phone B always receives the attachment in it's correct format.
I took it a step further and used the phones to test sending. Even if I use Phone A to send to the other account on Phone A, winmail.dat is received. If done from Phone B to Phone A, Phone A winmail.dat persists. Phone A to Phone B correct format is received. I'm thinking there is a setting somewhere on Phone A I'm not aware of that was somehow changed since it is not mail client dependant nor recipient mail server dependant based on the testing results.
This is a Microsoft Windows setting with Microsoft Outlook or within the Exchange Server gateway in general.   These winmail.dat files have been arriving on Linux, BSD, OS X, Tru64 Unix, ULTRIX, Solaris and many other servers for many years, too — unfortunately, everybody that's using non-Microsoft clients and tools encounters these files from time to time.  The winmail.dat is a Windows Mail data file, after all.
If the mail client or if the mail server gateway sends a mail message to an iOS device — or many other "foreign" mail clients — that involves a winmail.dat file generated by the sending client or generated by the originating mail server gateway, then iOS will show the winmail.dat file.  Like many other mail clients, the iOS mail client does not decode, process nor create these winmail.dat files.  (Most clients simply treat these winmail.dat files as an arbitrary attachment on the message.)
Send the same messages to the same email addresses and read those messages via another mail client — one that doesn't have winmail.dat support — and you'll see the exact same behavior; a wad of attached winmail.dat data.
From Microsoft: How to Prevent the Winmail.dat File from Being Sent to Internet Users.  In short, either the Outlook client settings or the Exchange Server (IMC) settings will need to be changed here.

  • I have a new imac21.5 how do I open Appleworks6 Data Base files?

I have a new imac21.5 how do I open Appleworks6 Data Base files? And how do I access Quicken files?

You won't be able to use AppleWorks on that computer. You will need to open your AW database files on an older computer that can run AW6 then export your database files to a standard text format such as CSV or tab-delimited.
You can then import those files into some other database program such as iData 3.1.18.
Quicken does not currently work with Lion but Intuit has announced they will issue a new version sometime this year. You can try using another application that can import Quicken's datafiles or export the data to format other applications can use. Or you can switch to Quicken Essentials that does work with Lion.

How do I use cellular data while talking on the phone?

If your carrier supports it, you just use it like you would if you were not on the phone. Use a headset or put it on speaker, press the home button, and do whatever you want...
If you use a CDMA carrier (Sprint, Verizon, etc.) then you can not use cellular data while on a voice call.

  • How can i open large data?

he code in the screenhot opens realy all data
formats, but only small data, when the data becomes too large, LabView
say: "Not enough Memory to complite this operation". But I have enough
Memory. This appear already by a data-largeness of fwe bytes (maybe
    more than 10 MB).
I have 1 Gbyte Memory, also enough, but when i
will open a small data with only 10 MByte it say's to me that i have
    not enough memory.
Ok when i would open a data with more than
1Gbyte, for example a zip-file, i can understand it, but the data are

You should also read the tutorial Managing Large Data Sets in LabVIEW.  Some things you will learn:
Your current code is making several copies of your data.  The tutorial will teach you how to find them and eliminate them.  The tutorial has not been updated for LabVIEW 8.5 yet, and there are several enhancements in LabVIEW 8.5.  The updated version is posted below.  The code examples did not change.
For best speed in reading from the disk, you want to use 65,000 byte chunks.
Store your data in a single-element queue.  This will give you best performance for a large array.
Store your data as a set of arrays instead of one array (this has been mentioned above).  You can break it up into several single-element queues or save it as an array of clusters, each cluster containing a sub-array of the data.  The cluster acts sort of like a handle in C.

  • How do you open a .dat attachment with Lion?

Can anyone tell me how to open a .dat attachment now the Lion no longer supports the Tnef Enough program?

The problem is that MS Outlook thinks that it is sending attachments to another Windows-based Outlook installation (actually its MS Exchange that's the culprit but we won't go there). So an easy fix is to have your son change your entry in his Outlook address book to indicate that you cannot receive RTF format files.
Also, you can download a very nice app, TNEF's Enough http://www.joshjacob.com/mac-development/tnef.php
It will enable you to drag and drop those pesky .dat files into TNEF where the attachment will open and enable you to save the individual files in their proper format.

  • How do i fix cellular data to work after updating to ios 8.0.2

    Hey Adamsarvela,
Thanks for the question. I understand that you are experiencing issues with Cellular Data after updating your device. First, you may want to check for a new update as iOS 8.1 has released earlier this week. Second, check out the following resource for steps to troubleshoot cellular data connectivity:

  • How to turn off cellular data for exchange mail iphone 4 running on ios 7.1.1

    Hello,
I am new to using iphone 4. I am able to turn off cellular data for most of my apps. But unable to find an option to turn off celullar data for exchange emails.
    Is this possible? please help.
For now I am using the fetch method instead of push.

What's not there on the 4S is the ability to specifically disable 3G data. You can disable all cellular data. Turning off 3G did NOT turn off cellular data. It just shut off 3G. You would still be connected to the EDGE data network if present.

  • How do I restrict cellular data?

I have my daughters iphone 4s restrictions set so that she can't modify the settings.  It is set for cellular data use to not allow changes; HOWEVER, when you go to the settings for cellular data it will let her cut it back on? Help please?

    OK
You cannot turn off the Cellular Data switch and then block any changes in the restriction section, but you can do nearly the same thing.
    1. Settings > Cellular then slide down and turn off cellular data for all separate apps
    2. Settings > General > Restrictions > Allow Changes > Cellular Data Use > Don't Allow Changes
Now your daughter will use only wifi for her favourite apps

  • How do I force cellular data while on Wi-Fi

Here is my problem:  I want to run airplay from my iphone to a stereo in my garage that is under my house.  I bought an airport express and put it in my garage and ran a 3.5 mm jack from it to my stereo.  The problem is the range on the airport extreme ***** and does not reach to my garage, which is 30 feet away down one level.  If I use the airport express as an extender I get horrible skipping, which is a known problem.  I can use the airport express as an "internet device" and stream to it.  The problem is the signal ***** in the garage and I have to put my iPhone in a closer room to get a strong enough signal.  The only solution I can think of is to use the airport express in the basement as a seperate network and then I will have a strong signal.  The downside to that is I have no internet to it.  Is there a way I can force the iphone to use cellular for data?
I am sorely dissapointed that I have $200 of apple "It just works" routers and I can't use airplay.  I have tried different channels, and tried both wireless G and N.  I live in a wood framed house and have 0 wireless home phones.  I should have minimal interference.  My range of the airport extreme should be more then 30 or 40 feet.  Any help on this would be much appreciated.

I have a hard time buying "the configuration of my house" as an excuse for poor wifi signal.  I have friends that get signal from their router 100 feet from their house (non apple router), and I can't get it 30 feet inside through wood and plaster.  Either there is a settng or setup I am missing, or it is a lousy/faulty router.  I am not trying to bash apple, I enjoy all my apple producs.  It is jsut I have fought signal strenght/wifi setups since I switch to apple products.
How is it I cannot use the airport express as a wifi extender and still stream airplay.  Even with the 256kbs audio going from the express to the extreme and then back to the express (which is how it works from my understanding) that souldn't even be close to using available bandwith.  This is the only way I can get good signal in the basement.  I am just disappointed and frustraited.

    Hi,
please check out the forums, there are lot of threads about the issue 'how to enhance a datasource'. Just to give you a hint. Use transaction rsa6 in your source system for that. Here you can enhance the extract structure, the datasource and you can do the coding...
