My Iphone 5 was stolen a couples of months in Lousiana when I was on vacation. I reported stolen and bought a new I pnone 5S and I erase the numser from my Icloud accounr and today got a text today from a florida area code that said they bought an iphone 5 and that it had my number in it. My question is if all my info pictures and contacts are still in that phone that was stolen? and what should I do I really dont understnad why this person contacted me if he has my old phone? and how can I make sure my info is secure?

Yes, if the data wan't erased or the phone restored. Didn't you set a passcode to prevent others from accessing your data??

Only if you set a passcode or remotely wiped the data using Find My iPhond on iCloud.

Today while I was at work my phone was stolen. After unsuccessfully trying to track down the kids who had it, I called my service provider and asked them to suspend my account. A short time later, I found my phone at a local pawn shop and called to reactivate my phone's service. The woman on the phone said that it should only take a few minutes to reactivate. However, a coworker also told me that whenever a theft gets reported to the service provider, apple puts your phone's serial number on a list that disables yours phone's re-enactment until the service provider confirms that the phone has been found. I'm not sure if this is true, but my phone should have been working a few hours ago, and it still says that there is no SIM everytime I try to send a message. Should I just wait it out or is it more likely to be at the fault of my service provider?
Thanks!The SIM question/issue is separate from all of the others. Your iPhone will not access the cellular newtwork until you install a new SIM. The current SIM has been deactivated and is now useless. Get a new SIM, install it (or have it installed), then have your carrier grant the iPhone access to the cellualr network.

My phone was stolen and I discontinued cell service to the phone through my provider. However, before discontinuing service, I locked my phone from the icloud. Now that it is no longer being serviced by the service provider, will the phone remain locked?
Thanks, James. Sadly, I had not upgraded to iOS 7 as I only had an iphone 4 and those I knew with the 4 who upgraded had major issues with battery life, so I decided not to upgrade. However, I know the phone was locked because the new "owner" called and hung up on me while calling the number I listed in the "This phone is stolen message" set by the cloud. Are you saying that my phone will remain locked if they don't know how to break into it? Or are you saying that it will no longer stay locked once I turned off service to the phone?

Return it. If you can't return it, turn it over to the police and consider this a life lesson.

My phone was stolen, but I had no data left and so can't locate it till the person who has it tries to use the internet. I backed up all my photos on iCloud, and want to get them on my PC. I installed iCloud onto the PC and followed the instructions and still can't find my pictures, says my photostream folder is empty, but it shows on iCloud that i've used most of my storage which is true, so they must be there somewhere?

Even if you delete your device from the "find my phone" application/page, it will reappear again once a connection is made. -

If you enabled Find My iPhone on it before it was lost and it is connected to the internet, you can try to track it on icloud.com as explained here: http://help.apple.com/icloud/#/mmfc0f2442. If you didn't enable Find My iPhone on it before it was lost, there is no way to track it.

If you have an iCloud account, change your AppleID and iCloud passwords immediately. That will keep a thief from connecting and deleting your iCloud backups. When you get a new iPhone, if from an Apple store, the genius bar staff can download the information you have in iCloud and restore it to your new iPhone.

I have insurance through apple for my iPhone 4. Last night my phone was stolen. Am I covered under insurance to get a new phone? And how much will it cost? Second- what should I do about it? I don't know if I should shut down the phone or what in case my iPhone is able to be located or what not?

No, you simply do not. Apple does not sell insurance.
Apple offers an Extended Warranty called AppleCare.
Warranties doe not cover lost or stolen devices. Buy a new one. -

you can track your phone in find my iphone. There is also an option to delete iPhone contents.
Please not that find my iPhone in icloud must be on in order to locate it in the map and also need to be connected to internet. -

You must have had find my iPhone on, or it was locked by your phone carrier.
Call your our cell carrier first.
then log on to a computer to iCloud to erase your iPhone.
NOW... You will be able to setup with a backup. -

No. All you can do if you have Find My Phone setup is erase the device or lock it. It must be connected to Wi-Fi in order for the commands to take effect.

An iCloud backup is not viewable at iCloud.com, & cannot be saved to a computer. An iCloud backup can only be restored to another iOS device to retrieve any data.

You can't, if the photos are in photostream you need a compatible device, if they are in a backup, you can only use the backup to restore to a new device.
