HTML 5 in IWEB

Lets all join and post anything about HTML5 in Iweb.

I could not get it to run on my iphone
From the manual : [Safari HTML5 Audio and Video Guide: Audio and Video HTML|http://developer.apple.com/safari/library/documentation/AudioVideo/Concept ual/UsingHTML5_Audio_Video/AudioandVideoTagBasics/AudioandVideoTagBasics.html#//appleref/doc/uid/TP40009523-CH2-SW1]
*User Control of Downloads Over Cellular Networks*
In Safari on iPhone OS (for all devices, including iPad), where the user may be on a cellular network and be charged per data unit, autobuffering and autoplay are disabled. No data is loaded until the user initiates it. This means the JavaScript play( ) and load( ) methods are also inactive until the user initiates playback, unless the play( ) method is triggered by user action. In other words, a user-initiated Play button works, but an onLoad play event does not.
This plays the movie: <input type="button" value="Play" onClick="document.myMovie.play()">
This does nothing on iPhone OS: <body onLoad="document.myMovie.play()">
Because the native dimensions of a video are not known until the movie metadata loads, a default height and width of 150 x 300 is allocated on devices running iPhone OS if the height or width is not specified. Currently, the default height and width do not change when the movie loads, so you should specify the preferred height and width for the best user experience on iPhone OS, especially iPad.
*iPhone Video Placeholder*
On iPhone and iPod touch, a placeholder with a play button is shown until the user initiates playback, as shown in Figure 1-1. The placeholder is translucent, so the background or any poster image shows through. The placeholder provides a way for the user to play the media.

  • Adding HTML on iweb

    Could anyone tell me if you can add HTML to an iweb website and if so how?
    Thanks

    Although true that you can’t do HTML in iWeb as is, there are several options available. All stem from a post-publishing mentality. Basically you create a box in iWeb where you want your HTML to go (put in some filler text so you can find it). Post-publishing, find the page with the HTML text, then open it in a text editor. Find your box with the filler text, and add your HTML – removing the reference to the box.
    Alternatively, you could get a third-party software that allows you to embed HTML in an iWeb page, and then converts the HTML code (again post-publishing). This method allows you to add code on the fly in iWeb and then ‘automate’ the process of converting the ‘box’ code to straight HTML.

  • Cleaning up the HTML in iWeb

    Greetings, Is there a way for me to clean up the HTML in iWeb? I want to clean it up so the " %20 " doesn't show up in the URLs. And will Apple fix this issue in the next release/version of iWeb, does anybody know?
    Current URL sample:
    http://web.mac.com/taliesin2/iWeb/Site/About%20Me.htm

    No problem, you can do it right in iweb. Change the page names in the site organizer so they have no spaces. Republish and your all set.

  • HTML with iWeb

    Hi,
    I just got the iWeb program, im trying to access the html code to add extra's to my site.
    Currently I am just closing down iWeb and editing through a text program, but im wondering if there is a way to view the html within iWeb so i dont have to close everything down, etc.
    Also when i do this, all changes to the html have to be after im done editing with iWeb because the changes wont load when i load my site in iWeb.
    Any help would be good, thanks.

    You can't view html with iWeb, and any custom html
    you add via a text editor or other means will be
    erased whenever you republish the page using iWeb.
    It really isn't an appropriate tool for what you
    want to do, at least not in this version.
    That is a real BUMMER! After spending many hours over this weekend setting my site up, I need to add a bit of html at the end of my welcome page:
    It is a dynamic weather report.
    I figured out how to add it with a text editor, but every time the file is edited in iWeb and then published, the added code is erased! I hope there will be a way to deal with this WITHIN iWeb soon.

  • How to edit html in iWeb

    How can I edit html in iWeb?

    but info was needed on how to edit / add additional coding as no obvious way of designing a typical 'Contact Us' form included in iWeb
    Then you should have said that in your topic.
    And if it did not answer the question, then say so in the same topic.
    Anyway, the HTML Snippet was invented for your purpose.
    So find the Contact Us code, usually a form, and paste it in the HTML Snippet.

  • HTML ON IWEB

    Hi There, I would like to insert an html animation created with adobe edge in a iweb page, but when I insert html code fragment appears in a blank white background. the process to get the html code is: Subject to the edge in html file, and then, to know the code to enter, open it with dreamweaver. control with "live view" that the graphics and animation behavior is correct, click on "live code" and copy it entirely. drag the widget in iweb "html snippet" on the page and glue it all and I click on apply.
    result ... the box becomes a blank white background, and even when the public does not see anything ... it off?

  • How do I imbed html in iweb?

    I need to imbed a few html codes into my website. I cannot for the life of me figure out how to do this. Can someone give me lesson for dummies in a short reply? So much appreciated!

    Annie ~ Your Public Profile indicates you're using Mac OS X (10.4.6), but iWeb '09 requires 10.5.6 or later. So it's not clear whether you are using an earlier version of iWeb or need to update your Public Profile.
    Here's an Apple doc that relates to adding HTML code in iWeb '08:
    iWeb ’08: Adding live content or code to your webpage
    ...If you're using iWeb '09, just ignore steps 3-4 there and instead select the Widgets panel on the right and choose HTML Snippet.

  • How do I get my podcast's html from iWeb?

    I have a podcast here: http://web.me.com/krushjudgement/Site/Giant-SizePodcast/Giant-SizePodcast.html
    I'd like to allow people to stream it directly from my blog even if they don't have iTunes. I was thinking of using Google's media player. But how do I find the html to enter into the code?
    My blog: http://giantsizepodcast.blogspot.com/

    I'm not sufficiently familiar with iWeb to be able to answer this one: could I refer you to the iWeb forum. However please note that embedded media players of any type will not be recognized by iTunes, though you may be able to include it on the web page as long as the feed contains 'enclosure' tags with URLs of the actual media files. Whether iWeb will allow this is another matter: it's designed to work the way it works and doesn't encourage unconventional use.

  • HTML in iweb?

    Hello! I've been trying to get this one html image map to work as a snippet on my site. It loads for me on iweb. But once I publish it and view it live online it doesnt load right away. I have to click it first before the images appear. It also doesnt seem to load at all on other browsers besides safari. Since I know the code itself is fine because it works in iweb itself, I'm just trying to figure out if anyone has had similar experiences with html codes not working through the snippets or with firefox or safari and if anyone has some information that could help. Thank you so much! the site live right now is www.davidparitsky.com and here is the code ive been trying to work with.

    Make sure the pathname to the file is correct. Put the main.jpg on the Photobucket server too and use an URL like the other images. You already have four images there. The code will be something like this:

  • HTML for iweb'08

    I like so many others am finding difficulty working with iweb. I have been using komodo html editor, after publishing my iweb page to a folder, to 'touch-up' my pages, like adding "no left click" and so on. Recently i discovered that shadows in iweb dont work outside safari, I have been researching for the html to change this but am not sure about what I have found.
    Does anyone know html shadow code that I can use? I found this site http://www.webtoolkit.info/css-drop-shadow.html but dont understand how to use it yet.

    Are you referring to shadows on text?
    Shadows on text are a CSS 3 feature which is fully supported by Safari.
    Eventually more browsers will support it. I think firefox and latest versions of internet explorer do but I could be wrong.
    I think if you adjust the transparency very slightly on your text it will be exported a picture and will be shown correctly in any web browser.
    However, for search engine optimization purposes, having your text as pictures is not ideal. You should consider not relying on text shadows.

  • How can I enter HTML on iWeb ?

    i am trying to add a button

    You can open the html files generated by iWeb in any text or html editor. In TextEdit, to view the code in an HTML file, choose File > Open and select "Ignore rich text commands." Then locate the .html file and click Open.
    Here’s how to find your html files:
    If you publish to dot mac, mount your idisk using the "go" menu in Finder. This will place your idisk on the desktop.
    Then go to iDisk/Web/Sites/iWeb/Sitename/Pagename.html
    If you publish to a folder, try looking in your Sites folder of your home folder.
    Try these directions, will work with any html addition:

  • Edit HTML in iWeb '08

    I have tried editing the HTML on my iWeb website by opening the .html file on my iDisk in TextEdit and editing it from there, but it did not change the site. Do I need to re-publish the page from iWeb, or do I need to use something other than TextEdit to do the editing of the HTML?

    If you're sure you've edited the proper .html file, try emptying your browser cache, and refreshing your browser. Sometimes closing, and reopening the browser with an 'Empty Cache' seems to be required.
    The 'Empty Cache' option in Safari is available under the Safari menu.
    Browsers cache websites you visit, and you can never be certain you are viewing a cached version of your site, or the actual site. I've always wished there was an option to turn caching off.
    There have been numerous "hacks" to prevent Safari from caching. Here's one,
    Replace the ~/Library/Caches/Safari folder with an empty file of the same name.
    or
    Change the ~/Library/Caches/Safari folder permissions to Read only, and lock it.

  • Adding text to index.html in iWeb

    I am currently trying to convert my website to mobile phone. I'm using Fetch as my FTP client, and Duda Mobile to create the mobile site. I am trying to add text in the index.html file, however, I don't know if I need a particular text editor to do this or if I can just use Text Edit to do this. Does anyone know how to edit the index.html file to include the line opf text in the <head> to redirect mobile device users to the mobile version of my site?

    The index.html file is just a redirect to the Home(first page) page of your site.
    You can open it in TextEdit to add stuff.
    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
    <!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-transitional.dtd">
    <html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml">
    <head>
    <title>Title Tag Goes Here</title>
    <meta http-equiv="refresh" content="0;url= Home-Page.html" />
    <meta name="robots" content="follow,index" />
    <!--head_code_set--><!--/head_code_set-->
    </head>
    <body><!--code_set--></body>
    </html>
    Note that you will have to do this every time you publish changes to your site since iWeb will overwrite anything you add to the file the next time you publish.

  • Babelfish HTML snippet - iWeb 2.0 - does not translate

    I'm trying to use an HTML snippet in iWeb 2.0 and translate the page into other languages using Alta Vista's Babelfish translator.
    For some reason the translator does not work and I can't see the translated page. Any ideas or simply iWeb is not processing the snippet properly? I think it is this because using the program iWebMore it processes the snippet properly.

    Are you sure you look in the right place? ~ is another name for your home directory. You open a finder window. Then you click on your home directory, on the left, in the places section, you select your name (or whatever login name you use on your computer). You see a list of directories including "Desktop", "Documents" and "Library". Open "Library" then "Preferences". Preferences contains a lot of .plist files. One should be com.apple.iWeb.plist if you have used iWeb before.
