HTML Article performance issues in Adobe Viewer on iPad

I have created a HTML Article using DPS but when I come to view it on Adobe Viewer in iPad the content does not scroll smoothly and the content is cut off and cropped (the whole page is not displayed), it is very judery and struggles to render the HTML below 'the fold' so to speak.
I have tried both options for importing HTML into DPS and both have the same performance/lag isuues.
I have a video in my HTML that seemed to be causing an issue where the video streaming was struggling to be pulled through, so I have treid YouTube and Vimeo video streaming and the performance/display issue is not resolved. I then tried embbeding an mp4 directly using HTML5 to see if it was a connection/bandwidth issue and the problem still exists. However the videos do play, its just the fact that the container is cropped in half.
Sometimes the whole HTML article renders but then when you swipe back up the page it struggles to render the content above? Also then when you swipe back down the page the content is also cropped that was visible before?
I have reviewed every available discussion on the Adobe Community and other resources but all the fixes mentioned do not have any effect.
If anybody can assist or has been experiencing the same issues any advise would be welcome.
Oh, the HTML Article contains some JS too, it does function correctly but I was wondering if JS causes problems? Just a thought.

Well, I think I may have found the answer so I thought I would share with the Community incase anyone else experiences the same type of issues.
After testing another peice of HTML that also included video streaming and heavy JavaScript, I narrowed the issue down to my JS. I had two Nivo Slider Carousels that were the route of the performance issues.
The other test HTML Article scrolls smoothly and the video pulls in as intended, although once in a while there is a slight delay in the page scrolling up and down but this is hardly noticeable.
I hope this may be of some help to other's in the future?

  • Error in Adobe Viewer for iPad

    Hello, guys!
When trying to dowload a new folio from Adobe Viewer from iPad, the following error paperers: "Ensure that each articles has the same orientation setting, all portrait, all landscape or all dual"
Any clues on what could be making this error appearing?

A folio can only either have all article in single orientation (portrait/landscape) or both. Check to make sure all article share the same oreitnation flow throughout

  • How do I force an HTML Article to load on every view rather than load a cached version of the page?

I've got several HTML articles, one is a search page. When you click a search result I am setting a variable in localStorage for the search query so it can be highlighted on the result page. When you get to the result page however, 99% of the time it loads a cached page. I need to force it to refresh and execute the JavaScript on every view not just when the View Application decides it should. Also the thumbnail is often cached to a really old version with something highlighted that you searched for 10 mins ago.
Is there any API that I can make the HTML Article load on every view?
    Many thanks,
    Kris.

Flash only supports a small amount of html in text areas.  If what you re trying to include is within what it supports, then you assign the text to the textfield using the htmlText property of the TextField...
    tfield.htmlText = "<a href="...">link</a>"; // will display "link" as a link

  • Performance issue with Adobe forms

    Dear SAP Experts,
We have the following issue/requirement from our client. The client is on SAP ECC 6.0 - production environment.
The client is highlighting  performance issue while accessing the adobe forms for HR and FI business process ( both static and interactive ).
                    Examples are
        FI – Invoice Approvals
                    HR – Job Salary Change
The client is asking us to provide best practices surrounding:
    1.       How to improve the performance of the adobe forms while accessing in SAP.
    2.       Is there any other technology which we can use in SAP to replace the adobe forms which has better performance factor.
    3.       Are there solutions such as webdynpro floor plan manager, UI Fiori which can be alternately used?
    Regards,
    Sakthi

    Hello Priya,
Adobe forms are easy to develop and much more comfortable than SAP Scripts and Smartforms. Initially they are a bit difficult but once you have your hands on, they are the most simplest things in ABAP.
Performance in Adobe forms is a mix of both fine tuning the Layout as well as back end coding.
Performance in Adobe forms cannot be done overnight. A lot of care has to be taken during the initial stage of development.
As far as my experience is concerned, please consider the below points while developing SAP Adobe forms.
    1) Avoid Scripting (Javascript/Formcalc) as much as possible inside the form. It drastically reduces the performance and makes the form to execute slower. If you still want to use scripting(which cannot be avoided for some requirements), use Formcalc since it is comparatively faster than JavaScript.
    2) Try to avoid the coding inside the Form Interface. You can always handle the maximum coding in the Driver program and pass it to the form.
    3) Use Form Caching.
For forms that have fixed layout, its a good way to increase the performance of form rendering. In the layout, go to Form Properties. Then Click on Defaults tab and select Allow Form Rendering To Be Cached On Server. Then Click OK.
For forms that have flowable or dynamic layout, render the forms on the client side because it improves performance.
Last but not the least, please go through the below post by Otto Gold which is worth a read at least once.

  • Limitations/issues Adobe Content Viewer (Adobe Viewer) on Ipad 1 (not tested on 2)

There a a few problems/limitations I'm running into with the Adobe Content Viewer for Ipad 1 (not tested on 2), like:
Autoplaying more than 1 multiple-state is impossible. Only the object in the highest place in the layers is visible (like having pulsing navigation arrows and a fade in text) -works perfectly in de windows Adobe Content Viewer with Indesign 5.5
Autoplay of an multistate object with 'stop at last frame' does not work. It just fades the entire multistate object out, instead of holding. -works perfectly in de windows Adobe Content Viewer with Indesign 5.5.
Cropping Images (changing the objectbox) in indesign, becomes skewed (or squashed) like the image just gets pushed in the new objectbox size.
Buttons with a click image/appearence become invisible in a multistate object. -works perfectly in de windows Adobe Content Viewer with Indesign 5.5.
    Some ideas for change
Not allowing an Overlay (which is larger than the page itself) on a page depth of 1, on top of a page with depth 0. Seeing content of the page below the currentpage seems quite unuseful.
Allow multistate objects to autoplay within another multistate object (thus allowing like a: menu catagorie wich can call an autoplaying slideshow)
Zooming in on an image without first having to tap on it to enable zooming.
    Updating content button.
Hitting the update button in Indesign cs5.5 (windows) doesn't update all changed content.
Hitting download update in de Adobe Content Viewer (Ipad 1) doesn't change all changed content. Archive and redownload nessesary.
We would love to see the top issues working.

  • Heavy performance issues using Adobe Interactive Form PDFs generated by SAP BPM

    Dear experts,
we use Adobe Interactive Form PDFs (generated with LiveCycle Designer) as Human Tasks within SAP BPM processes. The PDFs are generated and transmitted correctly, but when they are opened at the receivers PC, Windows freezes for 2-3 minutes, then the PDF opens and can be filled out and sent back. The next PDFs can be opened much faster, but when the PC is restarted, we get the same problem again. We use Adobe Reader XI (11.0.2) on our clients; is their any know performance issue?
Please note, that we have this problem with EVERY Adobe Interactive Form PDF... I created a simple PDF containing just a field and the client PC still freezes. So it can't be in the form or the scripting. Normal static PDFs can be opend without any problems.
    Best regards,
    David

They haven't really announced it, because there is no product to announce. Rather the opposite.
There are no conversion tools, so far as I know.
XFA forms are a non-starter if you want portability.
AcroForms are a nightmare in themselves, because the functionality is limited in Adobe Reader and varies between absent and weird in other products. No idea about Blackberry support.
You will not find a simple recommendation. Rather, you need to use Acroforms and carefully test everything (EVERYTHING: no assumptions) on every platform you intend to support.
Yes, rather unsatisfactory, but until Adobe realise that the future is platform equivalence or irrelevance, this is where we are.

  • Performance Issue with PAY_BALANCE_VALUES_V View in Oracle R12

    Dear all ,
We have recently upgraded from 11i(11.5.10.2) to R12(12.1.3). We are facing one Issue with slow performance of the queries where PAY_BALANCE_VALUES_V is used. We have so many reports & logic in Payroll which uses this View.
In 11i this works fine, however in R12 it takes very long time. There are no configuration changes we have done from 11i to R12.
Is there any way to optimize the performance or alternate way to retrieve the Balances Data in Payroll ?
Any heads up would be highly Appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Razi

    Hi Razi,
The balance related performance issue is written in the following note.
Note:1494344.1 UK Payslip Generation - Self Service Program Takes Much Time To Complete (Performance Issue)
This issue was fixed in HR_PF.B RUP6 or patch:14376786. Did you apply this patch? If not, I suggest you apply it.
Also, HR_PF.B RUP6 has some balance related performance issues.
If you already have applied HR_PF.B RUP6, I suggest you log a SR with SQL trace.

  • Performance Issues with Folio format in Ipad.

Hello everyone! My FIRST post here!!!
I work with educational games and I'm facing performance issues with games that I've made in HTML5 to play in Ipad. I tried to import them to the format folio in DPS (Adobe Digital Publishing Suite). However when I import the HTML game into Indesign and try to preview it in Adobe content viewer, the game doesn't open or works without perform properly (there is a lag that doesn't let you play the game with a little of fun).
The games that I've created have a memory use max of 35mb and weighs 30mb max.
Does anyone know what's happen and what I can do to fix that performance issue?
    Thanks a lot!

  • Problem with "small black line in right margin" with Folio Builder / Adobe Viewer in Ipad. Id CC.

    Hi there,
When I create a Folio Builder and I check my Id project in the Adobe Viewer (It happens in the Ipad App and in the Desktop Viewer), I can see a black line in the right margin (maybe 4 px). And I can't adjust my background (It's an object with a colour) to use the "full resolution available for the app in the ipad", and yes, I'm using rules and I can see that my background object it's 1024 x 768. I have tryed several projects and upgraded the project to the "30 version".
But I'm a new user with ID/DPS. So, is this a reported bug? Or I'm doing sth wrong?
And for me, the most important question, will this problem be solved when I send my project to the applestore and DPS transform my Folio to the Store? Or what I see now it's what I will see?
    Thanks!

Sorry! I have found an answer here in the discussion:
    http://forums.adobe.com/message/5835960#5835960
So, the problem will be solved in the final app, and it's just the scroll in the Viewer.
    Thanks!

I would like to know if the Adobe Viewer for the iPad support the Search, Bookmark and Highlight Text features.... Or if some of these features are planned to be developed later and when.

Not yet. Those features are on the roadmap, but I can't offer an estimated time.

  • Mac Pro 2013 and Premiere Pro - The performance issue that Adobe don't want us talking about!

In May 2014 I bought a 2013 Mac Pro to help my business with the ever increasing demands video editing was placing on our systems.  I was so excited to see how the 12GB of power the AMD D700s would affect my workflow and ability to edit footage seamlessly without delays to the creative process.
However, to my dismay pretty much since starting to work with the system I found that there was an issue with the GPUs, Mac OS and Adobe’s applications.  It was first reported by many other users in early 2014 and as yet know one from Adobe has really commented officially on the issue.
Sadly it appears to still be present today and speaking with an Adobe rep confirmed this.  Trouble is no one is doing anything about it.  My hope is that, if you have watched this video and are experiencing the same issues then please let’s get the comments going, share and like the video and let’s get Adobe, Apple and AMD to pick up this with immediate haste! Thank you.
Below is a video of the problem I have been experiencing.  It's a little long but I wanted to give a good account of the problem we are seeing so that someone can help! PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE help!
Mac Pro 2013 and Premiere Pro GPU Issue - YouTube
Thank you for your time and I'd love someone to help!

Thanks for responding!  It's such a pain and I have been chatting to one of Adobe's senior consultants about this and still none the wiser.  I have sent my machine off to the retailer as it was still under warranty.  Nothing wrong with GPU apparently which is a relief although I kinda wish it had been that as it would have been an easier fix.  Adobe told me that working with H.264 is totally possible but if you have a complex sequence with multicam and nested video with effects applied then it will seriously hinder performance.  Sadly transcoding to ProRes doesn't seem to help either and they suggested not adding any effects to the nested clips, flattening out the multi cams etc and this has improved things a bit.  Sent a sequence to SpeedGrade the other day though and the machine had a fit.  FCPX though seems to be working great and has a few advantages over Premiere so I may be making a switch for this type of work until Adobe can sort out this issue.  I still feel that the application isn't fully making the most of the GPUs.  In fact, I found out that multicam is actually all still on the CPU and that they are trying to implement GPU handling of multicam soon.

  • ADF generated HTML code performance issue

ADF generated code has lot of unnecessary html tags (when you check in Firebug). browser takes time to load the page . It means performance low.
As a Front end engineer . My aim is to give end user good browsing feeling , he doesn't like to weighting till page loads.
So from end user perspective page should load faster.
Normal Html pages and other applications i have full control over html code.
But in ADF , i don't have full control over all html tags ,which is generated by server dynamically.
So, can anyone suggest how i can improve my page loading performance ?

    Anil,
so in real - world terms, what you are saying is that a Ferrari 360 which has a weight of 1,350 kg is slower than a FIAT Panda, which only weights 840 kg. There is a catch to this theory of yours:
    1. ADF Faces is based on JavaServer Faces, which is a component based framework for writing web based applications. Renderer classes are used to build the user front end. It is not the intention of JSF to allow application developers - but component developers - to tweak the generated component output. If you want something lean, use the default JSF HTML component set, which comes extremely light (but also with less functionality - like a Fiat Panda)
    2. Performance is not alone defined by the HTML downloaded to a client - especially given that static HTML can be cached in browsers and ADF supports page templating for this. There are other factors that play in to this like network bandwidth, latency, query time, business logic execution time, image sizes, CSS and JavaScript
    3. The real load in ADF Faces, as in other AJAX frameworks, is JavaScript. Most of the ADF Faces functionality is created dynamically on the client side using JavaScript objects
    4. ADF Faces has more complex components than HTML. If you compare a HTML table with the table rendered in ADF, you see a difference in the look and behavior
Btw, here's the tuning guide for ADF: http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E21764_01/core.1111/e10108/adf.htm#CIHHGADG . You also may want to test and consider partial page navigation, which speeds up page to page navigation big times.

  • Issue with Adobe Viewer.

I am a Coldfusion developer. I have an application that takes some coldfusion variables and populates a pdf form that was created in LiveCycle. In the past this worked fine. Today someone told me of an issue they are having. Now when the view this pdf in a browser the fields are not populated. This is a major drawback from the way things use to work. Is this a bug or did you intend to do this?

Yes, I have tested on Chrome, Firefox, Safari, Opera and IE. It does not work in Firefox 19 or in Chrome 25. In Firefox I only get the hard coded text of the form. In Chrome I get the placeholder text in the form fields. Firefox shows a yellow message at the top "This PDF document might not be displayed correclty." and their is a button labeled Open With Different Viewer. Some of my users are not very tech savy and may miss that option. I am populating the form using the cfpdfform tag with an action of populate on a pdf form created in live cycle. I use the cfpdfformparam tag to put the values in the fields.

  • Performance issue accessing Materialized Views

    Hi All
I am extracting source data from Materialized View through DBLink which is having record count of 1500000 rows.
But its taking lot of time(Approx. 30-45 min) during loading.
Is there any other way to load the data in a faster way??
    regards
    Gourisankar

    Hi,
I take it the simple 'Select from "materialized view' doesn't take this long. This could be down to the issue when issuing an 'INSERT' statement using a database link, even if you use the Optimizer hint 'DRIVING_SITE' does not help. The problem is that when issuing an INSERT statement using a DB LINK the filtering of records does not happen on the far side of the link. All the data is moved across the link to the target db, and then filtered etc.
One way to get round this is to use a pipelined function to run your select to get your values, then call the pipeline function via ODI.
Still use the DIRVING_SITE optimizer hint in the pipelined function when selecting your data.
    Cheers
    Bos
