Hype widget; audio won't play when previewing on iPad

Hi,
I've come across a strange 'bug' in iBooks Author. Hope someone can help.
I made a widget using Tumult's Hype software. It has multiple scenes, audio and animated text. When previewing the widget in Hype everything works fine. But here comes the strange part;
When I insert the hype widget in an empty iBooksAuthor book the animation and audio works fine when previewing on my iPad2. But when i insert the widget in my iBook, wich has already ten pages filled with text, reviews, etc., the animation work, but the audio won't play when previewing on my iPad.
People from Tumult helped me, but were not able to fix this.
So in an empty book the widget from Hype works fine, but when inserting the widget in a book that has some pages the audio won't play! How can i fix this?
Thanks for the support!

  • Audio won't play when I'm skimming through clips on iMovie

The audio of the clips I have on iMovie won't play when I'm skimming through them, but will play when I play the clips. I made sure the volume of every clip and on the computer works (it does) but this is getting really annoying. Can anyone please help me out?

To Reboot your computer, select /Shutdown... from the top menu. Wait a few seconds, then turn your computer back on with the on switch.
You don't really have to know what a swapfile is, but here is a simplified explanation.
Your computer comes with a processor (Intel 2.8 ghz in my case), memory (2GB in my case), and a hard drive (500GB in my case).
The processor is very fast. The memory holds the instructions and the data that the processor will work on next. Long term storage is kept on the hard drive, which is slower. Think of the following metaphor: You are sitting at a desk. You are the processor. Your desktop is the memory, which contains the stuff you are ready to act on. Stuff you have already acted on, or will not need until later, is in the drawers or in a file cabinet (the hard drive).
Let's say you are working in several applications at once: iMovie, Microsoft Word, iTunes, Calendar, and Safari. Each of these programs needs some of your memory to function, and to get stuff to the processor for action. If you add all the memory requirements up, it may be more than the 2GB of "real" memory that you have. Fortunately, OSX lets you use virtual memory, so your programs can pretend they have as much memory as they need. Your programs can address memory as if they had a whole bunch of memory all to themselves.
This is done through swapfiles. When there is more virtual memory than real memory, the programs and data that have been used least recently are swapped out to hard disk in a swapfile. This file is not the permanent storage. It is the temporary parking place for memory when the real memory is being used by another application.
So lets say you want to use iMovie. It might take up 1GB out of your 2GB. There is not room, so OSX looks around and sees that you haven't used iTunes in a while. So the itunes instructions and music about to be played is swapped our to a swapfile on the harddisk.
If you decide you want to listen to iTUnes, you will have to wait a few seconds as iTunes is swapped back in to real memory, and something else is swapped out.
This is a simple case. It can get more complicated.
But, as you run more and more programs, the real memory gets used up and there might be seven or eight swapfiles out on disk. At some point, OSX gets sluggish and has a hard time dealing with this. For example, if two large swapfiles needed to be paged in at the same time, there might not be room. Also, the real memory can get fragmented, and have open space, but the open space is not big enough to swap something in.
I run a free utility called Memory Stick that shows me how many swapfiles I currently have. If I am working on something critical in iMovie, and I notice that I have a lot of swapfiles, I will usually just reboot and start over with 1 swapfile. In doing this, I hope to avoid the spinning beach ball that happens when OSX can't handle it any more.
You don't really need to know this. OSX handles it for you. But understanding how it works can help you self-diagnose some problems from time to time.

  • Audio won't play when streaming

All of a sudden when I try and watch quicktime files like apple trailers, my audio won't come on. The sound works fine for other applications. It even works with a saved QT file that I have on my desktop. Please help.

    Hi any answers here?
In firefox, chrome and IE I have the same problem - video but no sound.
QT standalone works with qt player, but in any browser I only get video, no audio - youtube flash works fine.
Tried upgrading (now 7.6.2) and rebooted - still no sound. in IE don't even haveplayer controls.

  • Audio Won't Stop when Previewing

So, I have a 3 minute mp3 file on my stage; the idea is to provide background music for my animation.  So I go to preview the animation, and everything works fine, until I stop the preview.  Then the audio keeps playing on and on.  If I hit the preview again, obviously the music starts up again, and then won't stop, in a vicious circle of death that has me fleeing from the room.
To make it clear, I'm not previewing the audio file, I'm previewing the entire animation with the audio file on the stage.  Thank you for your help!

Okay, I solved it myself but I thought I'd post the solution here for newbies like myself who can't seem to locate anything useful in Adobe's help systems.
When you set up an audio file, import it into your Library and not the stage.  Set up a layer for your background music, add a keyframe (name it something appropriate, and then in the frame properties, you can set a sound.
Under "name" select the audio file you imported.  The other important bit is to select "stream" under Sync.  This will make the audio play only when and where the movie plays.  Handy.

  • My Flash SWF file inside of my Flash Catalyst SWF won't play when previewed in Dreamweaver?

  • Audio won't play when burned

    Hi all,
I have a track to which I need to add two additional video clips with audio. They seemed to work ok when I inserted them into the track, played fine in the viewer, and even worked when played in the simulator. However, when I burn it to a DVD, the audio from the two clips I added does not play. All other audio works fine, including the audio from the other clips in the track. I tried burning several discs, playing on several players, and even re-encoded the audio from the clips separately and added them into the track instead. But to no avail. Anyone have any ideas?
I encoded everything using Compressor, with audio encoded as AC3's.

Yeah, that is plan B. It's just that it's almost two hours worth of video, so if I can avoid doing another 8 hours of compression, I'll be much happier. Just thought I'd try and diagnose the problem first, then try and workaround.

  • Audio won't play when QT controls are hidden once published

If you go to www.thegravystreet.com you will see a bunch of colored dots which are all QT's (audio only) with the controls hidden. Only one at the top has the controls showing and this works fine. But the rest don't work at all. It says in the iWeb help that if you hide the QT controls you can play the QT by double clicking but this doesn't seem to work for me.
Could someone please check this out and tell me if I'm going mad or if there is some problem with the way I'm trying to do this. BTW these are mp3's i just dragged into iWeb and the colored dots are just graphics i dragged onto the QT placeholder directly above the controller. I then removed the controller in the QT settings in the inspector.
    Any advice would be appreciated.
    Thanx,
    Mark

Welcome to the Apple Discussions. Have you tired using the File->Publish All to MobileMe menu option. Often that will jump start stubborn links, etc.
I do have a question. If you get it to work how are you going to let the visitors know to click on one of the dots to play the associated audio track?
Just tried a test of that and it didn't work for me either.

  • Video/Movie won't play when exported as a PDF.

    Hello,
I am creating an interactive PDF using CS5 to display video work. Unfortunately, the video won't play when exported as an interactive PDF, I am just left with blank space. I find this very odd as it plays in preview and also when exported as a SWF but that file type is unsuitable for the project.
Initially when I exported it I got this message: "One or more of the interactive elements are clipped in ways the pdf files can't reproduce...." Obviously, I have ensured the file is resized correctly and also tried .mov, .mp4 and also .flv file types with no success. I have also checked the simple things like ensuring all the right boxes are ticked when I export.
This is not the first time I have embedded video but it is the first time without success despite following the same pattern. Any ideas as to why this would be and how to fix it?
    Thank you,
    Laura

Use Flv or f4v format, after you have placed video into your layout, make sure that you don´t scale or crop video frame at all.
(Whren you File > Place a video, you will have a loaded cursor with video icon. Click the empty spot on page with loaded cursor, don´t draw a rectangle or click on the top of some exisiting frame)
It´s important that you have your video in 100% encoded size in your layout. If you need to scale or crop it, load that video into Adobe Media Encoder and do it there, and re-encode the video to the correct size and shape aftrwards.
Adobe Media Encoder ships with InDesign.

  • Premiere Elements 4 audio won't play on mp4 files, codecs missing/unavailable on .mov files

I dowlnloaded Premiere Elements 4, and when I import mp4 files, the video plays but the audio will not. I've also tried to import .mov files, and an error message pops up that says "Codec missing or unavailable." I downloaded the latest version of Quicktime, but that didn't change anything. The files will play back on the video camera, but I"m having trouble with them on my computer. The audio on the mp4 files plays in Quicktime, but not the video, and vice versa when I import them into Elements. Any suggestions?

Does Quicktime Pro also edit .mov files on a PC?

Premiere Elements 4 pretty much works with tape-based digital video. That would be video from a miniDV or HDV tape-based camcorder. It doesn't handle other formats very well.
If you plan to edit MP4s, you definitely want to upgrade to a more current version of the program. If you can't install a current version of the program, you may need to address issues on your computer (such as an outdated operating system or underpowered hardware configuration).
Short of that, you could buy Quicktime Pro from Apple for $29. It will edit MP4s, even on a PC platform.

  • Help!! AVI audio won't play - Premiere Pro v.7

    Hi!
I captured footage from my DV camera into Windows Movie Maker in the form of a DV-avi. (I use WMM because Premiere crashes when I try to capture DV video). And when I import the AVI into Premiere Pro v.7 the audio won't play in the project window. However, when I scrub the slider back and forth the audio does play (kind of).
I have never had this problem before. I've captured video many times and this never happened.
I tried re-capturing it 6 times, but still the audio doesn't play (except when I scrub).
Is there an option I clicked accidentally?
Any help would be really great.
    Thanks a lot!

I think WMM creates type 1 files and Premiere needs type 2
You might Google for a converter
You might also use the free http://www.headbands.com/gspot to find out the file details, and report back so someone may be able to help
I installed that program. Very helpful and interesting. Thanks for the link.
I assumed, like you, that I had simply captured the AVI files as Type 1. But I guess they are Type 2, after all.
I don't know if this helps, but the AVIs play just fine in Quicktime, Windows Media Player, WMM and Winamp.
