Hyperion 8.5 Client needs Cost Distro "what if" anaysis.

Basically, they need to query the current monies in‘Fund A’ and query the monies Funds (how ever manyfunds the user wants).The money from Fund A would be distributed by percentagesto the other funds selected. Although no monies would actually bemoved in the database through the dashboard, the user needs to beable to report the new numbers for both Fund A and the other Fundsas “what-if” reports for only their active session. Atthe end of the session, all percentages and calculated numbersshould be cleared. Does anyone 1) know if Hyperion 8.5 supports writingvariables to an empty results set? And/or B) does anyone have anysuggestions about how to implement this? We’re stumped. Thanks and Cheers!

You can install the client from the server CD. Select only SQL Plus, Net8 (and any other option you want) from Custom installation option.

Even I tried for the list of all cross-client download objects in vain. I figured a work around for this and found it helpful.
To check wether a particular object is downloading cross-client data:
1) Determine all the tables involved by executing CRM table SMOFTABLES with the adapter object name. (Ex: DNL_CUST_SHIP downloads data from the following tables: TINC, TINCT, TPRIO, TPRIT, TVSB, TVSBT.)
2) In order to check wether these tables are cross client or not, execute table DD02L in R/3 system with all the tables determined in step 1.
Ex: DNL_CUST_SHIP

TPRIO----

TPRIT----

This means that none of the tables invloved in DNL_CUST_SHIP download are cross-client and can be downloaded without opening the client.

The below mentioned tables are involved in DNL_CUST_CNDALL object download and are cross-client and hence the client needs to be open while downloading the object.

Advice needed - multiple monitors, what software is right for this?

I have an Intel Mac Pro (10.6) at work with 4 monitors, with screen sharing activated. I have an Intel mac Pro (10.6) at home with 2 monitors. I'd like to be able to do screen sharing, and the clients I've tested so far are driving me nuts - I can't figure out how to see all the monitors (one at a time if need be). What's the right solution - will ARD allow me to see the other monitors conveniently, or do I need Mobile Me, or ?? Advice would be greatly appreciated.

If the remote computer has multiple screens attached, ARD gives you the option to show all as one large screen or individual 'sessions' for each screen.

Change Locale in Hyperion Server, not client

On fresh installation, Interactive Reporting Web Client uses default values - for instance, 'USA' for locale and date format as 'mm/dd/yy'
These settings can be changed on the client post installation.
What i want to be able to do is - Change the default values on the server files itself, so that the change need not be made for every client.
On the Server, there is a file 'intelligence.ini' at - $MIDDLEWARE_HOME/EPMSystem/products/biplus/common/config/
The last few lines are as follows:

IS there any other way these default settings can be changed on the server itself?

Accessing new application using direct Hyperion Planning web client URL

I added new Hyperion Planning application. From standard workspace URL [http://demodrive:19000/workspace/index.jsp], I can now access new application.
However, when I use the direct Hyperion Planning web client URL [http://demodrive:8300/HyperionPlanning/LogOn.jsp], new application is not included as one of available applications to select. What am I missing?

I find it a little strange that you can see the planning application through workspace but not directly, I would usually expect problems the other way round.
One thing to check for if that you don't have multiple planning instances, check in the configuration utility, you could have an instance pointing to one set of apps and another instance pointing to a different set of apps.
Though saying this I would expect workspace to show the same apps as going directly.

Does my client need to have Adobe Story to review my script?

In one of the Adobe video's, Paul Trani shows how we can share a script. I can only presume that whoever gets the script, must have Adobe Story installed to be able to review the script. What does my client need to be able to review my script.

Partially, yes. When you share your script with your client, he/she can access it in Adobe Story. But for that installation is not necessary, he/ she can access it through the web application (https://story.adobe.com). What your client requires is - an account with Adobe Story and an internet connection.
You can also export your script in one of the formats available and send it across.

I can understand why the server needs it, as it is downloading classes
it does not have information about. But why does the client need to specify the codebase

client codebase comes to the scene. Client codebase......you mean codebase info that is sent TO the client, so it can find the classes.
A client annotates
it and it gets written to the manifest part of any
serializable object (Task implentation) being passed
over then net so the server could find and download
the actual class of the object.

well when you copy an ODS only the structure is copied. to load the data you might need to create transformation and DTp to load data in the new ODS.
You need to load data manually. Copying the ODS will only copy the structure.

A complication that I need to resolve is the fact that I am using Vmware
Fusion to be able to use Windows on my Mac. Now it seems that Time
Machine is not backing up my files
on that virtual Windows without additional configuration and my question
is whether you can advise me here or whether this is only a matter for
the Fusion virtual machine.

If you want to use Time Capsule you can.. you simply bridge it and plug it into the existing router.. wireless can be either turned off or used to reinforce the existing wireless.. eg use 5ghz in the TC which is much faster than your 2.4ghz.
You can also use a NAS.. many brands available but the top brands are synology, qnap and netgear readynas series. These will all do Time Machine backups although how well always depends on Apple sticking to a standard. There are cheaper ones.. I bought a single disk zyxel which was rebadged and sold through my local supermarket. It actually works very well for TM at least on Snow Leopard. Major changes were made in Lion and again ML so do not instantly think it will work on later versions. I haven't tried it yet with those versions.
Any external drive can be plugged into the mac. Use the one with the fastest connection or cheapest price according to your budget. USB2 drives are cheap and plentiful. But no where near as fast as USB3 or FW800. So just pick whichever suits the ports on your Mac. Interesting Apple finally moved to USB3 on their latest computers.
TM should exclude the VM partition file.. it is useless backing it up from Mac OS side.. and will slow TM as it needs to backup that partition everyday for no purpose.. TM cannot see the files inside it to backup just the changes.
You need to backup windows from windows. Use MSbackup to external drive.. if you have pro or ultimate versions you can backup to network drive. But MSbackup is a dog.. at least until the latest version it cannot restore the partition without first loading windows. There are about a zillion backup software versions for windows.. look up reviews and buy one which works for you. I use a free one Macrium Reflect which does full disk backups and is easy to restore.. to do incremental backups though you have to pay for it.

Need to know what form is attached to a responsibility

There is a need to know what responsibility in Oracle has access to a given form. All seeded Oracle Reports that I am aware of (Function Security Function Report, Function Security Menu Report, Function Security Navigator Report) require a responsibility be inputted into a parameter in order to run. This is not a feasible option as we have hundreds of responsibilities and we would need to manually review each output for a specific function or form. Does a report or other SQL exist where I do not have to specify a responsibility?
I have attempted different ways for a custom sql but the difficulty always lies in the exclusions because you need to look in every single menu that has been excluded whether or not a function is attached (need to look at all the submenus). This is difficult because you need to go down the entire menu tree of each excluded menu and I haven't been able to do this.
Below is the closest I have got for an sql however I am getting 207 results which I know is not correct. I'm wondering if the query when looking at the menu exclusions is not looping at all the menus that are excluded for a given responsbility? Any ideas or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

The script for "How to retrieve list of responsibilities and associated menus" (SELECT RESPONSIBILITY_NAME, MENU_ID FROM FND_RESPONSIBILITY_VL;) isn't really giving that as it's just the one menu that is associated with that responsibility (and doesn't look at the menu exclusions).
For note, "How To get List Of Functions Which Are Setup For A Responsibility? (Doc ID 549100.1)":
I can already get a list of functions on a particular responsbility and even more so I know what menus use a particular function using the following sql:

I believe these are two links I need to look at to find what menus are associated and unassociated with a responsbility. In fnd_responsibility_vl, there is the main menu_id that says where this repsonsbility gets all of it's menus. This is where I look first in the first part of my query (b.menu_id is this link to the fnd_responsibility_vl table) :

The answer is not if you use iTunes.
The TC is NOT an iTunes server.. it is not a media device at all. It is a backup location for Time Machine.
You need a computer in the network which stores the iTunes library and you can then play it via the ipad.
A mini with a large USB drive plugged in will work fine.. it doesn't need to be new.. a couple of years old mini will work just as well.
As an extention to this, can we use multiple Airport expresses plugged into mutiple sound systems to simultaneously access different music from the same time capsule?
I am not sure.. there will be network limitations to this.

Since your Mac probably came with 10.4, there is no longer a way to get 10.5 Leopard install media. IF it has the requirements, you may be able to upgrade to 10.6 Snow Leopard by buying the boxed install media at the Apple Store for $30.
