Hyperion EPM installation

Hi,
I am trying to install EPM 11.1.1.3 however shared service option was disabled. When I try to check shared service option, message appears that "Blocker : Cannot be installed during this action". I had S9 installation earlier however i removed it completed (including registry keys).
I am not sure where it's still recognising old installation.
I would like to install it on Apache web server and it's also configured.
Please advice if somebody encountered for such type of sceanrio.

Hi,
In the past it has always been vpd.properties that has caused shared services not to be installed as it believes it is going to be a mixed environment.
If you have deleted the hyperion directory, removed the registry entries, removed any Hyperion related environment variables and renamed vpd.properties then you should usually be good to go.
If you have installed any V11 products then you need to find the file .oracle.products and rename the file.

I am planning to install Hyperion products in a distributed environment. I have three machines say, Machine A, Machine B, Machine C. All of the machines have Windows 2003 operating system. And only Machine B and Machine C have Application Server installed. Now I give a brief structure as what machine holds which products-

I create a separate database for each component, say, to configure Essbase I have Hyess database, to configure Planning I have Hyplan database.
And I configure Shared Services to the same database, say, Hyshs from each machine. In that case I just follow the previously congigured database.
Machine B and Machine C components are deployed to their respective Application Server.
Can anyone please tell me if this is proper or not? Any kind of modification or recommendation would be appreciated.

thanks for your response. Yes, the Process Manager does not start. I had a look at the Event Viewer. And it shows error and the error properties description is something like this-

Oracle Hyperion EPM 11.1.2 Installation on Linux Server Issue

Hi All,
We were downloaded and extracted all zip files (placed in opt/hyperion) from edelivery.oracle.com on LINUX 64 - Server.Before start the installation created new user and assigned to particular group.We are unable to point out the new location for installation, and tried in both GUI and silent installation. In GUI mode the "Browse" option is not highlighted for selecting a new location. It is giving default location eg: some other directory opt/epm.
After finally we found some one already installed EPM 11.1.2 partially in some other directory. But Users are different and Groups (the both users) are same for this installation.
The following error occurred "An existing Middle ware location has been detected .The default location is /opt/epm ".Even we are not able to change the location.
My issue is why it is pointing to older location after deleting all related hyperion folders in /opt/epm.But Seems OraInventory folder files and some files pointing to older location.(We haven't clean that folders).Can i delete those folders as well?
Any inputs would be really appreciated.

After Installing Hyperion EPM 11.1.2 successfully i am configuring it at the Performance Management Architecture i am getting one message "Oracle Data Access Client is not installed"
i have ignore it and try to configure but it gets failed and not able to cofigure the database can any one help me what is the issue.What i did wrong during configuration.

This is a requirement of the Performance Management Architect Dimension Server.
Perform a custom installation of the Oracle client software on the Performance Management Architect Dimension Server. From the list of available components make sure Oracle Data Provider for .NET 2.0 is selected.

Issue with OHS (EPM) installation on Red Hat 6.4

Hello Gurus,
We are facing an issue with the installation of Oracle HTTP server which comes with EPM 11.1.2.2 using EPM Installer on Red Hat 6.4.
When I select the OHS product it says, that the Oracle software is not certified on the current operating system, however it does not happen with any other product in the suite
Is Red Hat 6.4 64 bit not a supported OS?
I have installed all the required libraries mentioned here: Oracle&#174; Fusion Middleware System Requirements and Specifications
Also my NPTL version is 2.12 which is higher than 2.3.4 as mentioned here: Oracle&#174; Fusion Middleware System Requirements and Specifications

1) After installing components on respective machines per guideline a),b) above do we have to deploy webapps from products related to machine2,3,4 on machine1(foundation services). 2) Assuming we do not want to use a cluster - do we still have to depoy to admin server? Please clarify.

I encountered the same problems as yours. I then read the releasenotes(for windows) of EPM and found this:
Could not start the Shared Services from Windows services.
solution: update Windows registry
1. locate the following item of windows registry:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Hyperion
Solutions\FoundationServices0\HyS9FoundationServices
2. Under HyS9FoundationServices, add 1 to JVMOptionCount, and add a new JVMoption, whose value is set to be -DEPMRegistryUpdate=true。
3. restart the Shared Services server from Windows services.
It does work (for me). Hope this helps.

Hyperion EPM Uninstall Stuck on Initializing

My company is upgrading from System 9 to EPM 11.1.1.3 and I am attempting to install Hyperion EPM 11.1.1.3 client products (Essbase 32-bit, Essbase Admin Services Console, SmartView, Financial Mgmt Client, FDM Client, Financial Reporting, Interactive Reporting) on my new Windows 7 64-bit box. As you probably expect I am having issues installing these products and after multiple attempts I want to completely uninstall and try again.
When attempting to Uninstall it is getting stuck after the product selection on the "Initializing" screen. I have seen another post related to this same issue but the remedy they mention doesn't work for me. More specifically, the files they mention to delete in the Hyperion Installation directory aren't there. After doing a search I couldn't find them anywhere.
Does anyone have any idea how I can uninstall these products completely from Windows 7?

Hyperion EPM 11.1.2 Planning Configuration Issue

I am experiencing a bit of a problem when attempting to configure Hyperion EPM 11.1.2.
Envrionment: Windows Server 2003 R2 64-bit, Oracle 11g
Issue: Configuration abruptly fails during after the configure database screen for additional EPM products. Upon further digging I found the following error message:

I am pretty much at a loss at this moment. I downloaded the 64-bit zip files from edelivery and the install appeared to run successfully. I have tried the big bang approach to configuring and the modular approach, but can't seem to move past this. Has anyone encountered this issue before? Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Corey, that error it is shown because java is trying to open a 32bit .dll file using a 64 bits library.
to resolve this issue you have to navigate to HYPERIONHOME\common\config
modify the bat file setJavaRunTime.bat and comment the 64 bits java options like this:

I've run through all the steps of patching EPMA ran the Oracle_Upgrade 9.5.0.0.0.10 to 9.5.0.0.9.1.sql script per the patch readme. But can't figure out where it's pulling the schema version number from. Any ideas?

Hi,
you forgot to update the EPMA database. Last step in patching is:
Now, you must run the database upgrade script before starting the process manager.
Run the single database upgrade script that corresponds to your database vendor.

Not able to Start Hyperion EPM Architect services

Hi,
I have been facing issues with accessing FDM web application. The Error Desc is " An exception occured during the execution of the current web request. Please contact the administrator to review the stac trace in the event log for more information about the error."
So we have tried to stop/restarted the Hyperion Services in Prod FDM server. But we are not able to start the below services after the stopping the services.

Thanks John. I got help from Oracle Support team to resolve the issue. This is a Common issue with the 11.1.1.3 version, the services take some time and Sometime start once before the other hence the issue. The issue is resolved after restarting the services manually in order.

Hyperion EPM: Will Oracle Express suffice for Shared Services and Registry?

Hi.
I'm trying to install Hyperion EPM on Linux to make use of the Hyperion Interactive Reporting server components to allow report scheduling, web delivery of reports, etc. My data sources will all be MySQL. I'm at the point where I'm attempting to use the EPM Configurator for setting up Shared Services and Registry Database Connection. It seems my options for choosing a database on which to allow Shared Services and Registry data to reside are limited to 3: Oracle, SQL Server or DB2 (noticeably absent is MySQL)
So, it looks like I'm going to have to install an Oracle DB instance at the very least.
My question is this:
Can I get away with just installing Oracle Express for the Shared Services and Registry or will I have to install a full blown Oracle DB instance?

Hi, I confirm that you can use Oracle Express for Shared services and registry. We have installed the complete EPM platform on a single virtual machine using Oracle Express. It’s interesting to use it because Oracle Express use less resource. We can run this virtual machine on a computer that only have 4GB of RAM and get good performance (for a single user).
I recommend using it for proof-of-concept and Bootcamps.

Hyperion EPM server - web application service does not start

Hi All,
I installed and configured epm 11.1.2.2 on windows 2008 server. I was able to start all the services except "Hyperion EPM server - web application" everytim I start the service I am getting an error "some services start and stop as they are not used by any other programs and applications'.
I reconfigured the web server and deployed the application server again but still I am having the same issue.
I was not able to see planning from the navigate of workspace and I am getting errors while trying to start the web analysis.
Can anyone please let me know where I am doing wrong..

we deployed workspace, financial reporting, web analysis, shared services, planning web applications. we were able to access most of them except "web analysis".
we are getting an error while trying to login Web analysis "when starting web anaysis an error occured while initalizing startup options".
I have HP BL480 32 gb of RAM.
I am not getting any error while configuring but I am getting the error when trying toi start the service.

Unable to install weblogic via EPM installer

Hi ,
I get the below error while installing weblogic application server via the EPM installer .
"could not find the main class:
com.bea.plateng.common.util.Delete. Program will exit."

Hi Manisha,
Looks like there was a conflict or file clash with a failed previous installation of Weblogic. So clean up everything and do the installation from scratch.
