Hyperion Financial Reporting is taking long time to show the User POV

Hi,
we are using the HFR (version 9.3.1.2) and when i double click on any report in the workspace it is taking 5 minutes to show me the User POV. Can any one of you let me know how to find where the issue is.
Regards,
VJ

Hi VJ
Things that I am aware of that can slow down reports are:
1. Lots of members on the page (HFR tries to bring all the data into memory when run to speed up data display when changing from page to page)
2. Nesting of attributes (due to dynamic nature of calculations)
3. Nesting of dynamic calcs (similar to above)
If you have any of the above that could be your issue although it sounds like it may be more a hardware issue than an issue with the reports themselves. Does it always take that long? even if you re-run a report that has been run before?
Regards
Stuart

    I have some suggestions. But first, you realize that you have some redundant indexes, right? You have an index on account(account_name) and also account(account_name, account_id), and also account_history(invoice_id) and account_history(invoice_id, adjustment_id). No matter, I will suggest some new composite indexes.
    Also, you do not need two lines for these conditions:
    and round(a.account_balance, 2) > 0
    AND a.account_balance > 0
    You can just use: and a.account_balance >= 0.005
    So the formatted query isselect a.account_id,
           round(a.account_balance, 2) account_balance,
           nvl(ah.invoice_id, ah.adjustment_id) transaction_id,
           to_char(ah.effective_start_date, 'DD-MON-YYYY') transaction_date,
           to_char(nvl(i.payment_due_date, to_date('30-12-9999', 'dd-mm-yyyy')),
                   'DD-MON-YYYY') due_date,
           ah.current_balance - ah.previous_balance amount,
           decode(ah.invoice_id, null, 'A', 'I') transaction_type
      from account a, account_history ah, invoice i
    where a.account_id = ah.account_id
       and a.account_type_id = 1000002
       and (ah.invoice_id is not null or ah.adjustment_id is not null)
       and ah.CURRENT_BALANCE > ah.previous_balance
       and ah.invoice_id = i.invoice_id(+)
       AND a.account_balance >= .005
    order by a.account_id, ah.effective_start_date desc;You will probably want to select:
    1. From ACCOUNT first (your smaller table), for which you supply a literal on account_type_id. That should limit the accounts retrieved from ACCOUNT_HISTORY
    2. From ACCOUNT_HISTORY. We want to limit the records as much as possible on this table because of the outer join.
    3. INVOICE we want to access last because it seems to be least restricted, it is the biggest, and it has the outer join condition so it will manufacture rows to match as many rows as come back from account_history.
    Try the query above after creating the following composite indexes. The order of the columns is important:create index account_composite_i on account(account_type_id, account_balance, account_id);
    create index acct_history_comp_i on account_history(account_id, invoice_id, adjustment_id, current_balance, previous_balance, effective_start_date);
    create index invoice_composite_i on invoice(invoice_id, payment_due_date);All the columns used in the where clause will be indexed, in a logical order suited to the needs of the query. Plus each selected column is indexed as well so that we should not need to touch the tables at all to satisfy the query.
    Try the query after creating these indexes.
    A final suggestion is to try larger sort and hash area sizes and a manual workarea policy.alter session set workarea_size_policy = manual;
    alter session set sort_area_size = 2147483647;
    alter session set hash_area_size = 2147483647;

    Can anyone give some idea ?
    Thanks in advance

    Hi Jarugulalaks,
    According to your description, it take long time to render the report when using [Property] dimension, right?
    In this case, the issue can be caused by that there are too many members under this dimension. In your query, you used CrossJoin function to join multiple dimensions which might cause the performance issue. If you cross-join medium-sized or large-sized sets
    (e.g., sets that contain more than 100 items each), you can end up with a result set that contains many thousands of items—enough to seriously impair performance. You can use the NonEmptyCrossjoin function instead of Corssjoin function. For the detail
    information, please see:
    http://sqlmag.com/data-access/cross-join-performance
    http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms144797.aspx
    Besides, the total time to generate a reporting server report can be divided into 3 elements: Time to retrieve the data (TimeDataRetrieval); Time to process the report (TimeProcessing); Time to render the report (TimeRendering). For the detail information,
    please refer to the link below to see Charlie's reply.

    Dear All,
    When I go to SXMB_MONI to display messages, it takes very long time in displaying the messgaes.
    And when i double clicks on any message to see its details then also it takes very long in opening the details. During this period server also becomes so much slow that it becomes very difficult to even open any other screen on the server and it looks as server has got hanged up. But after a long wait once the messages are displayed in SXMB_MONI then the server behaves normally.
    Kindly suggest what might be the error.

    Hi,
    Please check in tcode SM50, if there are any archiving, deletion jobs are scheduled or check in SXMB_ADMIN-->Persistence layer analysis if the level is too high, schedule the switch delete procedure.Also check in ST06 what is the Utilization %.

  • F4 Process takes a long time to show the values

    Hi gurus,
    We are facing an issue with the InfoObject Sup. Company Code 0COMP_CODE, this characteristic has 200 enties in the Master Data, and 10000 values in the SID table.
    This infoObject is being used in a Query (3.X version) and when we press the F4 to obtain the values, it takes a long time to show them.
    The query takes data from a Multiprovider, and the multiprovider only has one Cube.
    The issue is happening with a lot of query (obviosly, with the same object), and there is no reason to do it I think, because the amount of records is not too much (10 K rec).
    So, what do you think is happening? all your help will be helpfull.
    Regards, Federico

    Frederico / Rob,
    setting the InfoObject property of 'Query execution filter value selection' to 'values in master data table' has the consequence that it is indeed faster on the query selection screen, but then when selecting filter values after the report has been displayed is not restricted to the values in the report results - again all master data values are shown for selection. This is not acceptable to our users.
    Ideally, I would like to see two settings for query execution - master data for the initial selection screen, only posted values for navigation after the query has been executed. But I doubt that's going to happen.
    In BW3.5 I seem to remember that you can set the choice of F4 display within the web template (can't in BI7).
    NB for BI7 Java execution, examine the 'order for F4 help' on the InfoObject attributes and remove most of SAP's default settings. This will speed things up a little.

    I've been using Arch since May. I never had any problems connecting to wifi--my laptop has always connected automatically to my home wireless network within a few seconds of booting to my desktop. I use Network Manager, with the network-manager-applet on my panel.
    All of a sudden, for no apparent reason, every time I boot now I cannot connect to the internet for several minutes: When I click on the panel applet there are no available wireless networks listed. It's only after several minutes (it varies slightly, usually after about 2 minutes) that available wireless networks finally show up in the applet.
    The physical wifi switch on the laptop is securely in the "on" position. NetworkManager is running as soon as the system boots, and lsmod shows me that iwlwifi module is loaded. There are no errors in the journal. I haven't changed any network settings in a long time. Why is it suddenly taking NetworkManager several minutes to show me the available wireless networks after a reboot?
    EDIT: During the time when I have no wireless networks available I get this:
    eileen@vaio ~ $ nmcli general status
    STATE CONNECTIVITY WIFI-HW WIFI WWAN-HW WWAN
    disconnected none enabled enabled enabled enabled
    eileen@vaio ~ $ iwconfig # notice that wlp2s0 is not listed in the output!
    enp4s0 no wireless extensions.
    lo no wireless extensions.
    eileen@vaio ~ $ nmcli dev connect wlp2s0
    Error: Device 'wlp2s0' not found.
    eileen@vaio ~ $ sudo ip link set wlp2s0 up
    Cannot find device "wlp2s0"
    After wireless networks finally show up in the applet, I get this:
    eileen@vaio ~ $ nmcli general status
    STATE CONNECTIVITY WIFI-HW WIFI WWAN-HW WWAN
    connected full enabled enabled enabled enabled
    eileen@vaio ~ $ iwconfig
    enp4s0 no wireless extensions.
    wlp2s0 IEEE 802.11abgn ESSID:"blue"
    Mode:Managed Frequency:2.437 GHz Access Point: 98:FC:11:86:9C:EC

    Tx excessive retries:0 Invalid misc:34 Missed beacon:0
    lo no wireless extensions.

    Could the problem be that the kernel is taking a long time to detect my wireless card and designate it as wlp2s0 (which needs to happen before NetworkManager can do anything)? If so, how can I tell the kernel to prioritize looking for a wireless card when the system boots?

    After I'm finally connected, dmesg gives me this:

    Notice the firmware load failures at 15 and 75 seconds after boot, and the fact that it's not until 135 seconds that the firmware for the wireless card is finally loaded.
    This suggests to me that the culprit is either the kernel (and/or its iwlwifi module) or the actual firmware. I will try different versions of these packages (linux, linux-lts, and linux-firmware) and will report back.

  • My procedure is taking long time to process the attendance information?

    Dear Experts
    I have procedure which runs employees monthly attendance sorry here I am unable to post the procedure it contains 4500 lines and I am using oracle 11g R2 version on Windows 2008 R2 Server with 4 GB RAM
    I have run my procedure for 1 section which have 180 employees count and procedure took 28 min of time to complete the process for 1 month and I have total 3000+ employee to run the attendance process for all the employee for 1 month.
    I am Storing all the employees in Cursor then looping one by one with Dates (1st to End of the month one date for all the employees) using While Loop.
    or
    can you give me the suggestion how can I find at which stage procedure is taking time in the 4500 lines of code.

    I tried with BULK COLLECT with for loop however it takes 6 hrs 50 min to complete the process where as cursor completes it with in 25 min
    Below is the type which I have used
    TYPE employee_nums_t IS TABLE OF employeemaster.empno%TYPE
                  INDEX BY PLS_INTEGER;
          l_employee_nums   employee_nums_t;
    select EMPM.EMPNO BULK COLLECT INTO l_employee_nums
                FROM EMPLOYEEATTENDANCE EMPA,EMPLOYEEMASTER EMPM,SECTIONMASTER SEM,CATEGORYMASTER CGM
                WHERE SEM.SECTIONID=EMPM.SECTIONID AND EMPM.CATEGORYID=CGM.CATEGORYID
                AND EMPM.CATEGORYID!='4'
                AND (P_SECTIONID IS NULL OR SEM.SECTIONID = P_SECTIONID)
                AND (P_CATEGORYID IS NULL OR EMPM.CATEGORYID=P_CATEGORYID)
                AND (P_EMPNO IS NULL OR EMPA.EMPNO = P_EMPNO) AND EMPA.EMPNO=EMPM.EMPNO
                GROUP BY EMPM.EMPNO ORDER BY TO_NUMBER(EMPM.EMPNO);
    FOR indx IN 1 .. l_employee_nums.COUNT
            LOOP
              ----- (Here is remaining program)
              END LOOP;
