Hyperlinks for Nigel's page work in iWeb but not in Safari. Why?

In iWeb, the hyperlinks for my NIGEL page all work. They work to and from the main U.B.R.O.L. page. They work to and from the other few people in the U.B.R.O.L. group.
However, these very same hyperlinks for Nigel do NOT work.
What should I do? I am careful with clearing cache.

Well, happily, I figured this one out all by myself. The hyperlinks were not working because I had placed them in the Navbar. I had placed them in the Navbar because I had opted to not have those three pages in the Navbar and also I opted to not even show the Navbar on those three pages.
Well, I discovered by many trials and errors that putting hyperlinked boxes in the Navbar, even when nothing else is there, is a bad idea worth losing.
When I lowered the hyperlinks into the regular text field, the hyperlinks worked both on my desktop and in Safari.
Of course, that left me with a bare Navbar to contend with so I decided to put the Navbar back in, but without showing those three pages for Nigel, Helen, or Vali.

  • Rollovers work in iweb - but not online

    I have created a website in iweb with several hyperlinks just by highlighting a line of text and making it a link. The normal,rollover and visited colors work fine in iweb. However, once I go online to see my page the rollover color does not show when I hover over the link. The problem only exists on one page in a few text boxes but everywhere else the rollovers work. Any ideas on how to fix this problem? Could it have to do with the font?

    Thanks so much everyone!!
    OT: I will definitely try out a test page. Thx!
    Fineligh: Thank you! My boss actually designed it and I've been building most of it out. iWeb is super fun.
    Mark: I checked and I did not make the actual boxes a hyperlink - just the client names.
    Jeff: Each red client name is fully selected and activated as a hyperlink. But thanks for the advice - sometimes the most simple thing is what sets everything out of whack.
    jcerno: In iWeb open your Inspector window (which you can find in your bottom menu bar). Once you open the Window there are icons on the top - click on the arrow. There you can enable images or text as a hyperlink and format the colors/rollovers. If you're not using iWeb than I'm not sure I can be of much help - I'm still new at learning web design. I'm a print person 100%! Good luck.

  • Links work in iWeb, but not from browser when published

    http://web.me.com/mocote
    All's well since August. Then yesterday, some links decide not to work anymore in browser. Can't create new ones either. What changed? In iWeb, all links look fine in the Inspector. You can click on all external links and file links in iWeb. Same links won't work in browser. Very frustrated. Please help.

    Hello!
    Thank you for checking my pages. I did clear the cache. Updated software. Repaired permissions. Rebooted (a million times). I also made sure I had no overlapping graphics. The problem appears to be on the pages linked from This Week (in the navigation bar), the pages are Probability and Measures of Central Tendency. The links are in Text Boxes with frames on them.
    I tried viewing the pages using Safari on my iBook, on an iMac using Safari and on a PC using Firefox. I get the same links not working. It's just odd that they appear to function "normally" in iWeb. I was hoping I did something dumb that I could fix quickly. If not, I'm having to do the pages over.
    Your suggestions are greatly appreciated.

  • Page works on windows but not on iPad

    Hi. This page works on Safari for Windows 4.0.3 but has issues on Safari for iPad: http://bit.ly/d3ouub
    Here's what's going on:
    - If you start a video in any of the AnythingSlider panels (Panel 1 and Panel 5 contain video), the video will overflow the AnythingSlider and appear either on the far left or the far right of the page.
    - Also, if you're on Panel #6, you'll see the poster for Panel #1's video tag.
    I've tested this on Windows Safari, giving it the user agent string: Mozilla/5.0 (iPad; U; CPU OS 3_2 like Mac OS X; en-us) AppleWebKit/531.21.10 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/4.0.4 Mobile/7B334b Safari/531.21.10
    But Windows with that user agent doesn't have any issues. What am I doing wrong that the iPad Safari can't display the content rotator with the videos correctly? Thanks.

    Only just realised it's a page for UNC-TV content. I used to live in Chapel Hill and Carrboro.
    I think I can replicate the effect you're seeing on my system (XP SP3, Safari 5.0). So it's not something idiosyncratic to your particular iPad and/or Windows system. But I'm not sure if the effect is something to do with the code on the page itself, the way JWPlayer interacts with the latest versions of Safari, or if it's a problem in Safari itself. (It's not a WebKit issue, seeing that Chrome is handling the page okay.)
    On the code-for-the-page front, the W3C markup validation service isn't liking the particular example page much:
    [105 Errors, 21 warning(s)|http://validator.w3.org/check?uri=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.unctv.org%2FtWxkB bq10M6wKRRL%2Ft%2Fhome19_i.htm&charset=%28detect+automatically%29&doctype=Inline&s s=1&group=0&user-agent=W3CValidator%2F1.781]
    ... but it's saying up front:
    *+Notes and Potential Issues+*
    +The following notes and warnings highlight missing or conflicting information which caused the validator to perform some guesswork prior to validation, or other things affecting the output below. If the guess or fallback is incorrect, it could make validation results entirely incoherent. It is highly recommended to check these potential issues, and, if necessary, fix them and re-validate the document.+
    ... so it's an open question as to how much guidance that can provide. (On the other hand, I'm not a web developer or coder myself. So my observations in that regard have to be taken with a large grain of salt.)
    Have you checked in at the JWPlayer Support about the issue, too?

  • Links work in iWeb but not on web

    I created a site (http://www.busybeetrader.com) in iWeb 1.2.2 and uploaded using Cyberduck FTP software. The links work in iWeb when I un-check the option to make them inactive. Once I upload my site, several of the links don't work. This has occurred multiple times.
    I am also having problems with missing links to files. I open iWeb and get an error list of missing links. It includes pictures and PDF documents, mostly under the blog sections (Editorials).
    Any help any one can give me would be appreciated. Thanks!

    You should post your question in the iWeb '06 forum ....

    The "link" inspector in iWeb '06 is slightly different to the latest version.

  • Links work in iWeb, but not in browser

    Using a blank template. established a photoshop background and placed transparent rectangles over the images and linked the rectangles. In iWeb (1.1.2), they work fine. but they do not work in the browser. I noticed a problem someone had by accidentally creating "floating" boxes. I have reworked all of my links with no luck. Help!!!

    I answered your question yesterday:
    http://discussions.apple.com/message.jspa?messageID=10520122&tstart=0
    Nothing has changed.
    The footer of the page covers the links.
    The links themselves are 0x0 pixels. The shape-images are 1x1 pixels.
    Whether or not links work in iWeb is irrelvant. They should work in the browser.
    Check, check, check.

  • Help : my JSP page work in 8i but not in 10g. Any idea ?

    Hello,
    We have a 10g environment with Portal and SSO.
    When we were under 8i, I built a JSP file to display data from our DB via IE.
    Now that we are under 10g, I noticed that the JSP file doesn't work anymore...
    I located the JSP file in a similar directory as in 8i ... under ../Apache/Apache/htdocs/
    1) Is there any missing setup in our portal for making this JSP page work ?
    2) It seems that the HTML code is interpreted and correctly displayed, but none of the JSP code is interpreted .... even a "out.println" doesn't run ....
    So, at least the JSP file is found .... but it doesn't completely work !
    Do you have any idea ?
    3) I don't understand the problem... and in other forums, some people suggested that I should not use JSP anymore....
    I would like to understand why ?
    I am something like stuck !!!
    Shall I really use another technology ? (XML, .. )
    Thanks a lot in advance for your helps.
    Olivier

    Hello,
    It could be that there are just libraries missing from your project or some parts of the page aren't being loaded because they reside in another directory.
    Are you trying to run the page in an embedded server? If so, you should add the runtime libraries for a JSP project.
    You should use what you want to use, if you want to use JSP, it's perfectly fine.
    Greetings,

  • Using document.getElementById to change an element size works in iWeb but not when site published

    I am trying to use an HTML snippet to construct a "popup" to show explanatory text on iWeb windows. This is the code:
    <div id="divName"></div>
    <style type="text/css">
    /*<![CDATA[*/
    #divName {
         border:solid 0px #000;
         text-align:left;
    /*//]]>*/
    </style>
    <script type="text/javascript">
    //<![CDATA[
    function mouseOver()
        var el=document.getElementById("divName");
                       el.style.width=400+"px";
                       el.style.height= 200+"px";
                       el.style.margin="auto";
                           el.style.backgroundColor="#ffffff";
              el.innerHTML="this is a bit of text, and this is some more";
    function mouseOut()
        var el=document.getElementById("divName");
                       el.style.width=80+"px";
                       el.style.height= 20+"px";
                       el.style.margin="auto";
              el.innerHTML=" ";
                           el.style.backgroundColor="";
    window.onload=mouseOut;
    window.onmouseover=mouseOver;
    window.onmouseout=mouseOut;
    //]]>
    </script>
    This works o.k. when tested inside iWeb. When the mouse is rolled over the element it is enlarged, the background colour changed and the text displayed. However, when I publish the site the background colour changes and the text is displayed BUT the size of the element remains set to the size set in the "mouseOut" function. On one occasion after publishing it did actually work, but mostly it doesn't!
    What am I doing wrong?
    Incidentally, when testing under iWeb, the mouseOut function sometimes doesn't shrink the element back to its original size. Mostly it does, but when it doesn't the background has still been made transparent and the text removed. It only appears to be the height and width functions that are failing!

    Here's how I started :
    http://www.wyodor.net/Ajax/Ajax.html
    But to avoid having to edit the page after editing the iWeb page, i figured out a way to do it with a JavaScript :
    http://www.wyodor.net/mfi/Maaskant/How_To.html
    The magic word is : unique word. Then replace it with your own code.
    Then I advanced it a bit to this :
    http://www.wyodor.net/_Demo/Fancy/Dynamic_Text.html
    And here's an explanation what the HTML Snippet does :
    http://www.wyodor.net/blog/archives/2009/07/entry_213.html
    You may have to learn HTML/CSS/JavaScript/DOM/AJAX and how iWeb creates its pages.

  • error-page working in netscape but not in explorer

    Hi!
    I've a problem using I Explorer. I configured in my web.xml an error-
    page to manager errors of code 403, and it wasn't working, I keep
    getting an error from the browser and not the error page I
    specified... I thought it's was something about my app... but when I
    tested it with Netscape I got my error page ok.
    Does somebody knows why this happens in Explorer... how can I fix it.
    Thanks a lot!
    Abigail Garca

    Internet Explorer does that to save you from having to know what "Error 403" means. But you can turn that off: select menu Tools, option Internet Options. Select the "Advanced" tab, scroll down until you see "Show friendly HTTP error messages". Uncheck that and click OK.
    (That works in my IE 5.5; other versions may differ.)

  • Rollover works in iWeb, but not in any web browser

    I created pretty rollover links in iWeb '08 and when I mouse over them within iWeb, they light up like they're supposed to.
    However, when I open the pages in any web browser (Mac or PC, Safari or Firefox), the links do not light up.
    Any suggestions? I have already installed the latest update to iWeb.

    Nevermind. I fixed it.

  • JRE 1.5 plugin for Firefox on Linux works as root but not as an other user

    I am trying to usel the JRE plugin for Firefox on Fedora Core 4. I downloaded and installed it as "root" and created the symbolic link so Firefox can "see" it. It now works just fine if I run Firefox as "root", but if I run it as any other user, it thinks that the plugin is not installed.
    I checked to make sure that the path to the symbolic link is accessible by anyone (all directories in the path are x to "other" and the link and the .so file are both rx for "other").
    What else do I need to do so non-root users can use this plugin?
