How do I recover a group of pictures after I accidentally hit "hide"?

Go to the "View" menu in iPhoto and enable "Hidden Photos". This will make the photos visible again in their events and in albums.
Create a smart album to show all hidden photos:
New > Smart album, with the rule "Photo is Hidden"
Select all photos in this album and use the command "Photos > Unhide Photo".

If you back up your mac before deleting your emails, Time Machine should back up your e-mails.
I never tried this so i'm not sure to find them in Time Machine. To browse in your backups simply click the Time Machine icon in your dock. In the right bar, you can select an backup. Than you can browse in finder, in your backkup.

you will have to use the old fashioned way, like if you lost a wallet or purse.
- Change the passwords for all accounts used on the iPod and report to police
- There is no way to prevent someone from restoring the iPod (it erases it) using it.

Do the following:
1 - launch iPhoto with the Command+Option keys held down and rebuild the library.
2 - Run Option #4, Rebuild Database, followed by Option #1 if needed.
NOTE: was it the computer that froze or just iPhoto? If it was just iPhoto you can use the  ➙ Force Quit menu option to quite out of iPhoto without having to power down.

Why is it no longer possible, since the iPhotos upgrade to 9, to select a number of photos and "hold on to them" when changing to a different left-margin "view"?

There has been a downgrade since iPhotos was… upgraded.
Before iPhotos was upgraded to 9, It USED to be that
IF you chose a photo or a number of photos WITHIN an event
(ensuring that they were engulfed in yellow or blue),
and THEN went to the left margin and clicked on Photos
in order to view the ENTIRE library's photos
(not just those in that particular event),
the selfsame photos would REMAIN chosen in the LARGER context.
That is no longer the case.
And that was very useful, because
if you wanted to move a batch of photos within one event
to within another event, that was the easiest way to do so
— whereas now, we have to search for and "find" them all over again.
When I go "back" to Photos, I not only lose the selected images,
say from March 2009, I end up at a totally different place,
say in October 2006, and I have to do lots more "work" finding
the photos again then used to be the case.

Flag the Photos.
Switch to Events View
Select the Target Event
Events menu -> Add Flagged Photos to Selected Event

How do I get my bookmarks to list when I hit the bookmarks tab. I have to go to unsorted bookmarks to find them

In the old firefox, when I hit the bookmarks tab they were listed on the side bar. Now when I hit the bookmarks tab I have to go to the unsorted bookmarks and pick my bookmark from there. How do I get them to ist in the side bar like before?

In the Firefox 4.0 betas there are two different Bookmarks '''buttons''' (not "tabs"), The one that automatically appears when the Menu Bar is hidden and the orange Firefox button, is for the Bookmarks Menu Bar drop-down. I hit 'Delete Tunes' (accidently of course) in Settings on my iPhone 4S, I do have all receipts for the downloads, but clueless what to do or who to contact. Is there a way I can retreive them back?

I hid a folder using "." through terminal...how do I find it?

I left my computer with a family friend about a month ago, and before doing so I hid a folder which had pix of my wedding, work files, finance stuff etc.
I found a way to do it, involving terminal, and typing "." before the files name.
So basically, I can't remember the file name at this point. Thought it was one thing, and it's not, so is there a way for me to locate this folder?

But you might want to disable this "feature" after you found what you were looking for.
Alternatively you could just use the Finder's Find (command-F) command and search for file by Kind Name plus File visibility Invisible Items.

My wifes Samsung Charge lost all her messages a few weeks ago then 90% of her Contacts disappeared Monday.A month or so before that she tells me (now) her Backup Assistant started to fail and report an Error 10 message. I went and got her a new S4 yesterday. The guy at the VW store said there was no issue with activating it. Before doing so I had used Backup Asst (tried but failed) then the Cloud to backup her photos, etc. Now where do I find that? When I went to My Verizon all I find is my phone info? Am I missing something? Is there someplace where her data might be sitting that I missed? Otherwise, how can I move over the stuff on her old phone to her new phone.....

IPhoto "Unexpectedly Quit". When I went back in, about the past month's worth of uploaded photos was missing. What happened, and how can I retrieve them?

IPhoto was open, but "unexpectedly quit". When I opened it again a couple days later, my most recent photo uploads (for the past month or so) were missing, with dated Events folders saying "no photos". This had happened another time about a year ago? What happened, and how do I retrieve my photos? I hadn't backed them up, but do they automatically do so on iCloud?

Assuming you're running iPhoto 9 or later do the following:
1 - launch iPhoto with the Command+Option keys held down to open the First Aid window. Be sure to follow the circled recommendation in the screenshot.
2 - run Option #4, Rebuild Database.

This isn't working. So I click on one (and the yellow outline comes up) and then I hold down the control key (is it the command key maybe?) and drag with my mouse until I get to the last one and let go? That's not working. It's not selecting any more than the first one. hmm

HT201364 I'm not certain if my Mac Pro was made in early 2008. How can I find out when it was made?

Like many video editors, I am eager to upgrade to the new FCP 10.1, but I'm not sure if my Mac Pro can run Mavericks (a requirement for the FCP 10.1 upgrade). The Apple page states that Mac Pro's made in "Early 2008" should be okay, but how can I tell before diving into the upgrade? I can't afford to buy a new Mac Pro right now.

Thanks for the assistance! Turns out my venerable Mac Pro was manufactured in 2007, so Mavericks (and FCP 10.1) will have to wait until I buy a newer system.

The photos could/most likely ARE still in photostream. I just did this with my ipad yesterday.
Log onto iCloud from a desktop in iPhoto and see if they alreaady synced over photostream first.

How can I find out WHEN a specific iPhone was reported stolen?

I bought a storage unit at auction. There was a brand new iphone 4S, among other items, in the locker. Many had receipts with the owner's name so I know it wasn't a storage unit full of stolen merchandise. I ran a check of the iphone through a website, imei.info, and it seemed to come up clean (Verizon locked). The Ebay buyer backed out of the auction and now, days later, is claiming the phone is stolen. I'm thinking the buyer for some unknown reason, is the one who reported it stolen, just recently, and is trying to scam me. When I called Verizon, they confirmed that this phone was either lost or stolen but could not tell me when it was reported.
DOES ANYONE KNOW HOW I CAN FIND OUT THE DATE THE PHONE WAS REPORTED STOLEN, AND POSSIBLY WHO REPORTED IT STOLEN?

Buyer fraud has become a problem on eBay.
I ran a check of the iphone through a website, imei.info, and it seemed to come up clean (Verizon locked).
It probably would have been better to contact Verizon directly, but if you kept records of that research, use it to dispute the buyer's subsequent claim. Unfortunately, eBay buyers hold all the cards these days, and eBay's robots will simply order you to accept a return or face suspension of your account and seizure of your PayPal assets.
To dispute a SNAD may require that you obtain a court order to subpoena Verizon's record of the theft, which will entail an expense that will almost certainly exceed absorbing the loss.
Ebay is a buyer's paradise. For sellers, not so much.
