Probably. You may be able to use Finder > Go > Connect to server to access the server. You may be able to share folders using Remote Desktop too. Whichever one you like the best.

After MS13-098 and SecurityAdvisory(2915720), Windows Server 2003 Remote Desktop(TermService) cannot start service

I have trouble with Windows Server 2003 R2 Standard. I installed the KB2893294(MS13-098) patch, and I changed the registry that is suggested actions of Security Advisory(2915720) http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/security/advisory/2915720

After rebooting the event viewer(system) says:

After I cannot use Remote Desktop Connection from other client.
So I check the all security patches and other hotfixies. I checked the KB2653956 and KB958476.
But TermService do not recover the error.
And then, I delete the "EnableCertPaddingCheck" registry and reboot systems.
TermService have no error. I can use Remote Desktop Connection from other client.
After KB2893294 installed, Remote Desktop Connection cannot use from other client that "EnableCertPaddingCheck" registry set to "1".
Other Windows Server 2008 systems do not effect the KB2893294 patch. But All Windows Server 2003 systems cannot use the Remote Desktop Connections after the KB2893294 patch.

Update on this issue:
The debug team has accepted the issue and has identified it as a regression. Right now they're targeting *June* as the release date for a fix. I'm attempting to educate them that customers don't just install patches the day (or even month) they're
released and that the fix needs to be moved up in priority to give a minimum of 60 days to install the patch before the time-bomb explodes.
In the meantime, a workaround has been provided that will turn off the new functionality. Note that I have not yet had a chance to test this. It entails creating a new DWORD registry entry--UseLegacyPE--and setting it to 1.

I will update this thread when I have further information.

Can't change search options in Outlook 2007 on Windows Server 2008R2 Remote Desktop Users

One of my users is trying to change search options in Outlook 2007.
But he can't change the search options.
He is working with Outlook 2007 on Remote Desktop Services 2008 r2.
We doen't use cache mode on terminal server.
Any sugesstion how we can enabling search options for remote desktop users ?

To customize Instant Search options by using Group Policy
- In Group Policy, load the Office Outlook 2007 template (Outlk12.adm).
- To customize how results are displayed, under
User Configuration\Administrative Templates\Microsoft Office Outlook 2007\Tools | Options\Preferences\Search Options, double-click the setting that you want to set. For example, double-click Turn off wordwheel.
- Click Enabled. For hit highlighting color, choose a color from the Background Color drop-down list.
- Click OK.

Windows server 2003 Remote desktop over WAN problem.

Ok so problem is there is a 2003 windows server in my office. Any computer phone etc. can connect to it via Remote desktop if they are in the LAN network. I have port forwarded 3389 , disabled firewalls , there is no antivirus software on the server.
BUT I cannon log in over WAN. Heres the problem.
I type in the WAN ip I connect with credentials.
This is what i get:
Connecting...
Negotiating credentials...
Then it just suddenly force closes.
Also tried from a Windows 8 PC , when trying to connect it INSTANTLY throws me an error saying:
This computer cant connect to the remote computer. If the problem continues contact etc..
No matter where i try , a pc , a laptop , a phone , a tablet it just force closes. I can see that the devices are able to see the server and are trying to connect , but the connection just force closes for no reason and no error is shown. Also I dont see
anything in the event viewer on the server. The credentials are correct also. And the port is forwarded correctly.
Where could the problem be?

Thank you for posting in Windows Server Forum.
As you have commented that you have forwarded port correctly at windows end, but still suggest you to check whether you have port forwarded on Router which you are using for WAN connections.
Can your local system can make successful ping to the remote server from WAN connections?
For testing you can telnet <router ip> 3389 and if you get blank screen then it confirm that port has been forwarded.
It might happens that there is port assignment conflict taken place, so check with “netstat –a –o” and see port 3389 is not being used by other application, if that is the case then change the port.

When accessing a remote desktop on a mac to use a windows program is this functional and will it slow the mac down or create other vulnerabilities or will it run smoothly?

Connecting to a Windows computer using Remote desktop connection

I have connected a Windows 7 computer to my network using an ethernet cable to my Time Machine which is configured as an extension to my Airport network. My Mac sees the computer as shared, and I can connect to it using the name and password so I can browse files on it etc.
Nevertheless Microsoft Remote Desktop Connection will not connect to it, saying there is a network error. It has been suggested that if I use its IP address rather than its name it may work, but how do I remotely find out what its IP address is on the Airport network? I have not found the way using Airport utility or help.

Using Remote Desktop and itunes

I am trying to remote into my computer at work (where my itunes library is.) and import music from CD's from my computer at home. i can see the drives and the CD's but Itunes does not. I cant seem to import them no matter what i try. Anyone know how to do this?

I'm not real clear on what you are trying to do, the way your message was worded.
Somewhere in there, I assume you want to file transfer the MP3s you rip from one PC to another.
You could look into using itunes folder watch. Use the remote desktop to transfer the files and itunes folder watch to get them into the itunes library automatically.

Have you tried adding those users to the "Remote Desktop Users" group? It's in Active Directory Users and Computers and it's a Built-In group. Might want to give that a try ...

Remote access for Windows Server 2012

Hello there,
I have a dedicated Windows Server 2012 server, and I need remote access from a PC from a Mac OS X simultaneously.
Today, I use Remote Desktop Connection on the Mac and TeamViewer on your PC.
The problem is that the PC loses connection when Remote Desktop Connection is closed!
What is the solution for either the PC or the Mac or the two at the same time to access the server desktop?
Is there a setting that allows TeamViewer this?
Should I use or purchase additional software? if so, which one?
In short, what is the best solution to this problem?

We use RDP through VPN, so there is no forwarding ports, it is as if we are on the same network. This way, you do not have to worry about hackers, as you are in a secure VPN.
Are you doing this from a different office, from home, from a computer in the next room on the same network? What level of remote access are you looking at?
RealVNC is a good solution, but again, if you are outside the network, you will either need to go through a VPN to keep it secure, or open ports on the firewall. RDP will give you the ability to have two concurrent users (although with different usernames)
logged on at once. The limitation of only one user is a session limit on the computer itself, if one person is logged in as administrator, if someone else tries to RDP and log in as administrator, they will take over the session. This is
the same with other solutions. RealVNC is using a console session, so if another person uses VNC, they will see the already open console session, and possibly take over the others VNC session.

Would you tell me If window server installed with "routing and remote access" can output firewall logs.

I install "routing and remote access" into Window Server and make it work as a firewall.
When connections are accepted or denied at firewall, would you tell me if the firewall can output the logs ?
If that function can, would you tell me how to configure ?

Can't access my Directory Server using the Console installed on a machine

can't access my Directory Server using the Console installed on a remote server, lookied into knowledge base article 4693, but still same any idea ?

I too am having problems accessing Directory server from Netscape Console installed on Winxp.
If I try to open Directory server it doesn't give any error. No windows nothing.
If I try th same from the machine on which it is installed everything is fine. What is strange is that it did open a couple of times. But at the same time I can open the admin server, Netscape Messaging server from the xp box. Searching all over for a solution. Any help/pointers would be greatly appreciated.
Config details:
iDS4.13, iMS 5.0, running on Sol 8 box
Netscape Console 4.2 on WinXP.

Can't connect to X11 window server using ':0.0'

I tried to deploy a sampel BIBean application (JSP+BIBean) to standalone OC4J( install on AIX).
When I launch the jsp from windows browser,I got the following error message.
And I export DISPLAY=IP address:0.0 and bounce the OC4J, the IP address is the machine which I launch the browser and JSP. The I can lanuch the BIBean sample application successfuly (I can see the crosstab, grap...).
But this means that only my machine's browser can access application, not others.. Is ther anything wrong with my configurations.. Please help!!!

The X-server should work, when I export DISPLY to a remote X-server.
How about ImageServlet.. It seems that the ImageServlet has more advantages than X-server or XVBF
I tried to configure OC4J using ImageServlet follow UIX developer's guide. But I was not able to force OC4J to use ImageSevlet. But OC4J is stll try to find X-sever..
I modified the web.xml file for the sample application I deployed.
Is this a right configuration? What is the different

Actually at connect show the message "Error de conexion compruebe que gestion remota en el panel compartir de preferencias del sistema esté activado en el ordenador al que intenta conectarse. Compruebe tambien que su conexcion de red funciona correctamente.
I can connect to Windows Server 2008r2 with other programs like 2X or Cord but can't copy o move files, for these reasons I'd buy Apple Remote Desktop but had the problem of conection.

JLC - have you tried http://www.microsoft.com/mac/remote-desktop-client ? I have been using this and CORD for quite some time with success. As long as you configure to allow access to local filesystem, you can transfer filtes to/from the Windows server you are connecting to.

One thing to note though, since I updated my MBP to 10.8.5, copy/paste of text has not worked for me with either of those RDP clients.

Using remote desktop web access (RDWEB) with remoteapps and a traditional remote desktop

I configured windows 2012 r2 remote desktop services and remote desktop web access (rdweb) and was able to click the icon on the rdweb page to log on to a remote desktop session. When I published a remoteapp program, the remote desktop icon went away. How
do I get it back? Do I need to publish remote desktop as a remoteapp so users can both use remote apps and log on to a traditional remote desktop session?
