I am confused by the installation step that requires you to create a bootable USB drive for windows installation. What is the ISO image and why has it selected my Passport backup drive as the destination disc?
In the bootcamp installation it asks me to create a bootable USB drive for Windows Installation. To do so, I must choose an ISO image. What is that? When I click "choose" I don't understand the options presented. Is this the destination of the partition or where Windows will reside on the Mac? Why does it also indicate the the destination disk si my WD Passport Back up drive?
OK, so I have an apple superdrive hooked up to my mini (along with my Passport back up drive). I also have the discs for both 64bit and 32bit Windows along with the product key. I am still not sure what to do when faced with the options after "choose".

Here is what my system is:

Windows 7 Home Premium
Pentium R Dual Core CPU E 5500 @ 2.8 GHz 2.8 GHz
4.0 GB RAM 3.75 GB usable
64 Bit Operating System
What software do i need to download to get this to work properly?
Thanks much!Legally, you can't. You cannot transfer ownership of bought contents.
BTW, just out of curiosity, why hasn't your oughter simply changes thru iTunes sync the music she wants on the iPod? You don't need to have multiple iPods or give them away to change music. You control that by creAting different playlists in iTunes, then choosing to sync the ones you want. -
Trial version PSE12 continually asks for serial number but does not complete the action when serial number is entered. Is there a work around?
Is the serial number being accepted as valid, and it seems to be working, but then later you get a popup asking for activation, again, or is the serial number not being accepted as valid, initially?
In other words is there a problem with the serial number or is there a problem with the licensing mechanism on the computer? -
Boot from USB Key (for Windows installation)
This is my weirdest issue ever:
I have a windows 8 installation key which i want to use with bootcamp. Everything worked flawlessly on my MacBook Air (late 2011).
What I did on MacBook Air:
Created MS-FAT Partition with Disk Utility
Plugged in Win8 USB Key
Restarted
Held alt (or option) key and booted from the USB Key
Installed without error
However, this procedure DOES NOT WORK on my MacBook Pro (2008) or my iMac (mid 2011)!!! They do NOT show the USB Key when I hold alt (or option) during startup.
Is Apple somehow not allowing this due to the presence of a CD-Drive on the Pro and iMac?
The Key still shows up on the MacBook Air and is bootable even after installation of win8. So the problem is not the USB Key.
Thanks for any help!
JordanBeing recognized and allowing Windows to be installed from a USB key are to totally different things.
But I have not yet worked with the 2012 Standard model MBPs so maybe Apple changed something on them that does allow Windows to be installed from a USB drive. But for all other models that have a built in DVD drive you can't do it from USB. -
Tecra 8200: I can't install Wlan driver for Windows XP
Hello ,
i can't find wireless driver for windows xp. I have Tecra 8200. I try to install a lot of drivers of the official page of Toshiba for Tecra 8200 but the drivers do not work.
If anyone know how i can install wireless in my tecra 8200, please let me know.Hi
Firstly what I want say is the Tecra 8200 was not delivered with Windows XP and you will not find any Wlan drivers for WinXP on the Toshiba website.
I have checked it and there are only drivers for W2k, NT, and W98SE.
But as far as I know the unit was delivered with the ORiNOCO specification Wlan miniPCI Card Wireless LAN standard: 802.11b
In this case I would recommend searching in the net for such drivers.
Unfortunately, this is all what I can suggest. -

Won't hurt to reinstall the driver. There are three listed for your model. The first two have the same version and release date, but the file size is different. Try them all.

Creating a Mavericks USB boot drive after the horse has bolted. Can I create a bootable USB drive from my iMac after installing Mavericks without saving the Install OS X Mavericks.app file? Do I need to re- download the whole 5.29 Gb from the App Store again? My problem is my 4Gb/month allowance on a 12 month contract. I cannot purchase a data block from my ISP and although my speed is theoretically slowed to 64k after reaching my 4Gb, it actually ceases to download in reality.
HI tasclix, it depends what you mean by an OS X boot drive.
If you want a recovery disk from which you can reinstall (by re-downloading) or recover from a time machine backup, then nbar is correct.
If, however, you want to boot and run the OS X installer from the USB drive (so that you don't need to download again), then you will need a copy of "Install OS X Mavericks.app"; see this article:
http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5856
Before downloading again, search your system to see if the installer is still there - it's usually in the /Applications folder unless it has been deleted, but check your whole system for it anyway, you never know, you might still have it somewhere.

windows thinks my itouch is a camera and itunes says this ipod can't be used because the software isn't installed - reinstall itunes. i've done that and continue to get the same error. can someone please help?
(apologies for barging in, lllass.)
Let's try a standalone Apple Mobile Device Support install. It still might not install, but fingers crossed any error messages will give us a better idea of the underlying cause of why it's not installing under normal conditions.
Download and save a copy of the iTunesSetup.exe (or iTunes64setup.exe) installer file to your hard drive:
http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/
Download and install the free trial version of WinRAR:
http://www.rarlab.com/download.htm
Right-click the iTunesSetup.exe (or iTunes64setup.exe), and select "Extract to iTunesSetup" (or "Extract to iTunes64Setup"). WinRAR will expand the contents of the file into a folder called "iTunesSetup" (or "iTunes64Setup").
Go into the folder and doubleclick the AppleMobileDeviceSupport.msi (or AppleMobileDeviceSupport64.msi) to do a standalone AMDS install.
(If it offers you the choice to remove or repair, choose "Remove", and if the uninstall goes through successfully, see if you can reinstall by doubleclicking the AppleMobileDeviceSupport.msi again.)
Does it install (or uninstall and then reinstall) properly for you? If so, does your device connect without that message now? -
I had bought the iphone 5 four months ago. The problem is that it gets heated too much. I noticed it recently. What should I do? Should I take it to apple store to replace? Will they replace my iphone 5?
The Basic Troubleshooting Steps are:
Restart... Reset... Restore from Backup... Restore as New...
Restart / Reset
http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1430
Backing up, Updating and Restoring
http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1414
If you try all these steps and you still have issues... Then a Visit to an Apple Store or AASP (Authorized Apple Service Provider) is the Next Step...
Be sure to make an appointment first... -
Why do my iPhone cords for my 5 say it is not certified and may not work with this device? It's the same cord that came with my phone. The only difference is the iOS7 update.

Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.
For more information on this, take a look at:

Restore iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch to its factory default state. You should rarely need to use this step with an accessory issue.

I need appleisightinstaller.exe to install the isight driver for Windows Vista running in Parallel Desktop 6 for Mac, but I don't have a Leopard DVD. What came with my Macbook Air was a flash stick "MacBook Air Software Reinstall Drive" only.
All,
A very interesting NOTE to this thread. In order to try and get the "ignore permissions" box to show up in GET INFO (so I could execute Matt the Magician's solution to file sharing issues)-- I ran the terminal command for disabling ACLs on my internal HD / start up disk (as indicated in the linked thread to BDAqua's forum).
Although I understand that this was useless for disabling permissions on the start up disk (as everyone here pointed out) and allowing me to see the "ignore permissions" check box - somehow it did seem to fix my file sharing problem...and that was the root problem I wanted solved in the first place! After doing the terminal command and a quick reboot, I went in and tested file sharing on the chosen directory and I can create new files or work from existing files in the directory, with both users being able to modify / and save from both machines and each machine sees the revisions and can build from them. Bottom line - I'm stoked and want to thank everyone for their help.
The only other tweak I made was going over to my wife's machine and instead of using her log in / password, I just used my name and password to connect to my main machine that was sharing directories. Maybe that's what fixed the problem or the ACL disable but either way...I'm up and running the way I want to be.
Hope this thread helps anyone else who has these file sharing / permissions issues with Leopard. Especially for anyone wanting to do such a simple file sharing set up between 2 computers. I wish I understood exactly which tweak fixed the problem, but at least it works the way I want now.
So happy to be done w/this one!
Thx everyone. Any additional input on what solved it is welcome, so my curiosity is quelled...

The Microsoft Exchange Administrator has made a change that requires you quit and restart Outlook
Hi
We have 2 separate Exchange 2013 organisations in Our Company. All mail comes in on the first server registered With domain1.com and if it is mail Connected to the second server it is forwarded to server 2 which is registered With domain2.com.
When the users Connected to server 2 sends out mail they have default mail address firstname.lastnameATdomain1.com so the default address policy points to an email address registered on server 1. We have added a GPO for the domain2 users so that
Autodiscovery updates with the right domain name.
The problem is that every time a user With Outlook 2013 starts Outlook he gets an error saying "The Exchange administrator has made a change that requires you quit and restart outlook". This Message shows about every 10 minutes in Outlook. I think
this has to do With the autodiscover settings, but I'm not sure.
Any Idea how to remove this Message?
Regards
AndersHi,
From your description, I recommend you follow the steps below to repair the Exchange email account and check the result.
1. Start Outlook. Click File, Account Settings, and then click Account Settings.
2. With the Exchange email account selected, click Repair. In the Repair Account dialog box, click Next.
3. After the configuration finishes, restart Outlook.
After you restart Outlook, the status bar may show your status as Working Offline. To connect it, click the Send/Receive tab, and then click Work Offline to turn off this feature.
Hope this can be helpful to you.
Best regards,
Amy Wang

We just migrated our 2010 exchange running off a sbs to exchange 2013 running on server 2012 standard. The issues we are having is if you shutdown the old sbs server mail flow stops completly. The other issues is that clients using outlook 2013 get the
popup message "The Microsoft Exchange Administrator has made a change that requires you quit and restart Outlook." We have remade their profiles on the local computer, uninstsalled Office and reinstalled it... tried almost everything. The exchagne
server is on CU5 and no changes have been made in the last two months.... if you shutdown the old sbs server mail flow stops completely.
If the inbound flow is affected, check the firewall (or antispam/andivirus device/server) configuration. Most probably, it is still forwarding the inbound email to the SBS.
In case the outbound email stops, check the Internet Send connectors. It's quite possible that you don't have an Internet Send connector with the Exchange 2013 specified as a source server. If this is not the case, check again the firewall - it might be
blocking outbound traffic on port 25 from the Exchange 2013 internal IP address.
... clients using outlook 2013 get the popup message "The Microsoft Exchange Administrator has made a change that requires you quit and restart Outlook."
Are the clients fully updated, or at least, running

I got an old Apple G5 shell from Goodwill. I'd like to salvage the Superdrive and use it as an external drive for my Apple laptop. Is this possible, and what cables would I need if so?
Other info is available:
Superdrive MFG date: Sept 2009
Model: DVR-118LBK DVD-R/RW Writer Unit
My Macbook is: Mid-2010, running Mavericks
Thanks in advance, God bless! That's a nice Pioneer DVD±RW drive - and an upgraded replacement for the original optical drive that shipped with that G5. For a finished look, you'd want to install it in an external enclosure for 5.25" IDE/ATAPI drives that converts it to USB connectivity. Because SATA optical drives have replaced ATAPI drives in recent years, the selection is getting more limited for a new enclosure, although used ones can undoubtedly be found at ebay. Here's an example of one, although it only features USB connectivity. You can also find enclosures that have both FireWire and USB connectivity, which for Mac users is beneficial. Booting the computer (if needed) by a FireWire-connected device is generally more reliable than USB booting. If this isn't important to you, then a USB-only enclosure would be adequate. The enclosure will have directions, but essentially all you need to do is plug in the power cable and data ribbon cable and then secure the drive to the bottom plate of the enclosure with the included machine screws.
