I am having iPOD classic 80GB . I Have the 10.5Latest Version of iTunes installed. When I go for Sync.It tells me to restore to factory settings as it is unable to read the contents. On restoring it tells : unable to restore as this has files that are in use by another application. I have no idea what to do now. Pl advise. Thanks
Try disabling any and all A/V or security software you are running on your system and see if that helps.

Try disabilng the Enable Disk Use option from under the iPod's Summary tab, applying the changes, and seeing if that helps.
Otherwise, temporarily disabling any antivirus, security, firewall, or file indexing software that may be running on your system and then try restoring your iPod again.

Ipod classic drawing too much power message on macbook pro
Hi all,
I have done a search for the answer to this question on many forums but have not quite found the answer for me. I have a Generation 4 ipod classic and I am trying to connect to a 2009 Macbook pro.
The ipod charges fine from a wall power outlet, turns on powers up and everything looks as it should. I have nothing else connected to my usb ports. I have tried 3 or 4 different usb cables including a brand new genuine apple one and after market ones. I do not have the original cable for it. I have connected an ipod touch and an ipod Shuffle to the same usb port / ports with different cables and all ports and all cables work perfectly fine.
This leads me to believe that there is a particular cable needed for a 4th generation ipod classic, does anyone know if this is the case at all? Or that there is a fault with my ipod.
Any help will be greatly appreciated.

I have just tried to update Ipad to IOS6.1, but it failed during install. The pad now seems to be stuck in recovery mode.
I have tried to restore to factory settings but I get a error code 3194
During attempted restore the restore screen does not show the Ipad name, serial number or software version number.

If you have already installed firmware update 2.2 with iTunes on this computer and the 2.2 download has not been deleted from your computer, an internet connection is not required to re-install 2.2 - which is what a restore with iTunes does, but an internet connection will be required to complete the installation process. A carrier locked iPhone is checked with the designated provider to confirm the iPhone is activated with the designated provider.

It doesn't sound like it. If you have tried an iPhone reset with no change, which is done by pressing and holding the home button and the sleep/wake or on/off button simultaneously until you see the Apple logo and then release - ignoring the slide to turn off prompt when doing so, you have no other option. Reformatting and re-installing software on your PC will not affect an error with your iPhone. -
my apple ipod classic 80gb says there is no music - anything on my ipod, but says it only has 37gb free. Then i try and plug it into my pc with iTunes on (i've set it to do not automatically sync devices) but it still freezes every time. the only way to unfreeze it is by detatching the ipod or resetting with menu/centre (until it loads up again, where it immediately unfreezes and comes up with a load of messages saying "cannot read iPod" and when i try and restore it by pressing menu/centre button while it's plugged in, it says "cannot restore as it is being used by another program" or "error 1415". Any ideas how to sort this out? hope i haven't majorly screwed it up. thanks.

80GB iPod Classic refuses to sync on connection to iTunes 9
Since upgrading (HA!) to iTunes 9 my aged but still functional iPod Classic 80GB produces an error on every connection.
iTunes has detected an iPod that appears to be corrupted. You may need to restore this iPod before it can be used with iTunes. You may also try disconnecting and reconnecting the iPod.
Have done the reconnect thing a dozen times and done three separate restorations. The iPod works fine. But iTunes 9 will not sync with it.
Not sure if this is a known problem, but it sure is annoying.
DocWell, from what I've read, Apple is aware of the issue (and at this point, they'd better be). The big question is - how long before everyone with older iPods can start syncing them again? Since Apple does not sanction downgrading to an earlier version of iTunes (I had a post deleted that had a site with older versions available), we will just have to hope that Apple can fix this quickly.
I personally never upgrade to a new version until it proves to be relatively bug free (I am still using 8.1). If this is Apple's way of coercing people to upgrade their iPods, shame on them (I read one post that stated Apple support advised someone to purchase a new iPod). -

IPod Classic - 80GB - Invalid Index Key. Won't Sync.
So, my friend recently gave me his old iPod Classic 80gb 6th generation. I restored it, then began to sync it with my itunes library. It began to sync, but then froze. iTunes and Finder became frozen. I had to force quit iTunes and then unplug the iPod and restart finder to get everything in order. The iPod still doesn't work. I ran the disk utility and got the results as follows.

Thank you very much.So I had a similar problem on my 120 gig classic. After months of go around with the repairs department, we finally figured out the problem. ITUNES 9.0.3, KILLS THE HARD DRIVE on classics. What you need to do is get apple support to send you a REPLACEMENT, do NOT accept a repair, as they are idiots and only try to sync maybe one song, don't get the problem, and will send it RIGHT back to you, unfixed. Believe me, it is a Hard Drive issue. Once you get your new ipod, UNINSTALL itunes 9, and go back to using 8.2.1, it will work believe me. Hope this helps.
