I am having trouble re-installing Elements 12. when it try, it says my serial number is invalid

I bought elements 12.0 in December 2013. my computer recently crashed and I have to reinstall Elements. But when I try, it says the serial number is invalid. I've tried all the Adobe technical support contacts but they won't help and have told me to come here.

Same problem for me. Is there any way to escalate this query so there's a resolution?!

You are allowed to have two activated installations. If you happened to have one on this Windows 8 machine before, it is possible that the activation used for it was never deactivated (did you deactivate it before you upgraded Windows?). Talk to Adobe support thru chat. They might be able to resolve this with you:

Just user to user....based on past and current history, Adobe Tech Support is not going to help you with a technical issue which is preventing you from using your purchased serial number for Photoshop Elements. Version 12 is not the current version. And, the Adobe Tech Support is limited even for the current version which is 13. If this matter involves a purchased activated serial number trapped on a crashed computer while you are trying to install on a 3rd computer, then probably Adobe Chat Activation can be of assistance. Are you getting one of those "too many computers with your serial number" messages? Then the above should apply to your situation.

b. Have you verified your Photoshop Elements serial number at the Adobe web site (http://www.adobe.com) - after signing in with your
Adobe ID and Password, type My Products in the Search field and follow the path to your product in My Products. Click on Adobe
Photoshop Elements 12 in your list to reveal the serial number.
c. Do the install with antivirus and firewall(s) disabled.

Hi,
Did the serial number come from a boxed set and previously installed from disc and are you now trying to install from a download?
If so, that will not work - the serial numbers are different.
If you don't have a dvd drive on your new system, perhaps you could get someone to copy your disc to a memory stick and install from that.

Welcome to Adobe Forum,
If the upgrade serial number is of Retail version & the previous qualifying serial number is of volume, then it is an incorrect upgrade path.
You will need to contact Adobe Support http://adobe.ly/yxj0t6 & get approval for re-serialization only when you have valid proof of purchase as per company guide lines. The discretion to re-serialize depends on the proof of purchase & concerned Team for approval.

1) Check you are imnputing the serial number correctly (zeros instead of ones etc..)
2) If your version of LP9 is the upgrade version then you must first enter the original Logic Po 8 full version serial and then the Logic Pro 9 upgrade serial...
Failing that.... contact Apple for a replacement serial....

Try rebooting the iPad as well. You might be getting an inaccurate reading and rebooting might clear that up.
Reboot the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons.
