The issue with that white space is explained by the use of relative positioning of your menu. Remember that relative positioning visually allows you to move an element, but that its "shadow" or "foot print" is retained in the document flow. So it still takes up space where it originally flowed in your content, and this causes the header image to position itself the way it does. Turn off the relative positioning of the menu to see what I mean. A simple solution is to set the #header to relative positioning, and then apply absolute positioning to the menu.
There are other issues with your code. Much of it can be simplified, and you should really stop using ID selectors from this point on, and predominantly use classes instead. The use of ID selectors ought to be limited as much as you can - they force you to write bloated convoluted code.
Try to write DryCSS (Don't Repeat Yourself).
Here is my somewhat cleaned up code. Notice I removed and simplified most of the css selectors. Some have no css properties at all anymore. And be careful that you cannot use re-use the same id selector in your html code: it will not validate. #program1 must become .program1

Since downloading the new operating system on my iPhone 4S, I'm having trouble with my phone messaging. I enter a number or input a number from my contacts and send my message. Just bought a brand new airport extreme and having trouble with it being recognized. My mac is version 10.5.8. What should I do?
The new AirPort Extreme needs the 6.x version of AirPort Utility, which comes packed in with Lion 10.7.5 or Mountain Lion 10.8.x......or......you can also configure the device using an iPhone or iPad running a recent iOS.

A few options.....
Borrow another Mac running Lion or Mountain Lion for 10-15 minutes and set it up. The Mac running 10.5.8 will be able to connect to the wireless....but it will not be able to make any changes to the configuration of the Extreme.
Update to Lion or Mountain Lion.....but check first to make sure that your Mac will support the operating system first.

What App are you using with the microphone? I've used Skype, which has a "test call" feature to check your microphone.
There is a good chance your microphone is defective, possibly disconnected inside the iPad. If an Apple Store Genius can not fix it, you may get a new iPad on the spot.

I am finding that when I try to download a disk image file, such as Office 2011, it reads invalid checksum, is corrputed and will not install. I tried to download it several times and even unchecked in the Disk Utility Preference Pane to verify checksums. The way I solved the problem, was to go to my Windows Machine and download the image, put it on a USB flash drive and install it on my Mac from the stick. Not a proper solution, but it did work. Has anyone out there had this problem? This is applying to any large .dmg files not just Office 2011.

Try this - Reset the iPad by holding down on the Sleep and Home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons. I am having trouble with my FaceTime and imessage?
I Am having trouble with my FaceTime. When I try to FaceTime some one I am getting no ringing and then I get a message saying lost connection try again. It has been like this since yesterday. I also tried to send a iMessage and it did not go. This is all new to me, has anyone had the same problem? Please help. Thank you.
Turn FaceTime off in Settings>FaceTime>Off. Reboot your iPad. Turn FaceTime on again and see if it will work.
Reboot the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider if it appears on the screen - let go of the buttons. Let the iPad start up. -

Having trouble with iPad mini doing things on its own bought dec 2013 been great up until two weeks ago then it types on its own moves between apps flicks pages in my book. Does anyone know how to fix this.?
Probably a hardware problem. Call a Apple Support or take it to an Apple Store for evaluation.

I have an iPad 3, iPad Mini and iPhone 5S and they are all sluggish on capitalisation using shift keys. I hope that Apple will solve the problem because it is driving me crazy.
I find using a Microsoft Surface and Windows 8 phone, which I also have, work as well as all the ios devices before the ios 7 upgrade.
It has something to do with the length of time that you need to hold the shift key down. The shift key needs to be held longer than the letter key for the capitalisation to work. For some reason, this is a major change in the way we have learnt to touch type on computers. I am having to relearn how to type!

When I search a topic gives me pages of links as normal, but when I click on a link, the page is hijacked to a site called 'www.goingonearth.com' ...
I've done a separate search and found that other users are affected, but there doesn't seem to be a clear-cut solution ... (Norton, McAfee and Kaspersky don't seem to be able to detect/fix it).
I'd like to continue using the Firefox/Google combination (nb: the hijack virus also affects IE but not Safari) - do you have a patch/fix that could rectify the vulnerability in your software?
