Oh my! Obviously, I don't know what I'm doing. But I do know that my goal was to do both---backup AND free some space. My iMAc is old (2006) and I upgraded it a year or so ago to Snow Leopard. I didn't think I had the capability of backing up without an external drive, but maybe I do since I upgraded. Do I?
But I bought this My Book mostly for freeing space because I like to make cards in Photoshop and I'm forever running out of space when I get too many layers (don't really know what I'm doing there, either).

Thank you so much for beng so prompt with your reply and patient with mine. I tried for so long to see the dialog box with the library listings. When I launched iPhoto, even with holding down the Option key, it kept immediately launching into the full screen. Finally, after an hour of doing it over and over again, it worked when I held the key down for 5 minutes. Then when I was typing my reply, I kept getting a message to "Request Time Out." Didn't know how to do that, so kept hitting the OK button and kept typing for another half minute. Finally, when ready to send, Safari couldn't do it. "Try again" exasperated me until I realized I would have to begin again and use Firefox. When I got there and ready to type, I got the message that my message had been retrienved and did I want to use it?!!

Because Adobe has taken the stance, within Lightroom, that it will not touch files on card. Your card serves as a fail-safe backup in the event of disaster.
Ejecting a card has no effect on your images and is allowed so that you can removed the card without intervention of the OS.
After you've ensured image fidelity and backup, accepted best practice is to reformat your card in-camera. Trust me, I don't want to be on this forum answering questions about why someone lost their files because they "moved" them. This has been debated many times on the forum.

I read the discussion thread and it left off with the comment that Adobe is aware of isse and working on fix. I am using CC 2014 and the issue still exists.Hearing clip audio in the ingest window...has a fix been found???

Strangely enough the pref file did not show up in the Preferences folder. I don't know what this means but it could be signifigant.

Just sounds the ding, alert, can still slightly navigate the program but can not use any other tools after clicking warp text. I just have to open task manager and close the program. not sure if I'm doing something wrong or maybe I just need to uninstall and re install. It actually sounds like the warp text window is opening off screen.
Resetting the photoshop elements 10 preferences should fix it.
*Press and hold the Shift+Ctrl+Alt keys just after you start the launch of the photoshop elements 10 editor
*Keep holding the keys down until you get a dialog asking if you want to delete the adobe photoshop elements setting file
*Press Yes

I think you've got the right driver selected, otherwise it wouln't work at all. The single most obvious thing to ask you though (I'm sorry if this is too basic) is where you have the pan controls set to? To get each mic to record on a single channel, you'd have to have one panned hard left and the other panned hard right. If you leave them both panned dead centre, that's exactly what you get - both mics on both channels.

that little "&" sends the conky process to the background freeing up the current process (your autostart.sh script) to finish doing what it's doing so you can move on to running openbox itself. with this in mind, it should be obvious why keeping conky in the foreground would cause problems.
also, replacing it with (sleep 1 && conky) & means... wait a second, when that's done successfully (&&) run conky, and put all of that () to the background. that way openbox comes up immediatly and only a second later you've got your panel and monitor.
all this after .xinitrc and before openbox

IMovie '13: Import window does not open

I can't get the Import Window to open. (Sure it worked the first time I tried)

No matter if I press Import in the toolbar or use the menu (cmd I) the main window will dim, but the overlaying Import Window will not open.
After that I can only quit the program. I can drag and drop movie files without problems.
The only way the Import Window will open is to attach my camera. The Import Window will open automatically when iMovie sees the drive.
I have tried to re-install iMovie and deleted preference files, but with no succes so far.

I managed to locate the problem
I have an Elgato EyeTV 610. It is an old DVB-C TV Tuner hooked up on Firewire.
When I remove the EyeTV 610 from the Firewireport it works fine.
As mentioned in my first posting I was able to have the import window pop up by attaching my camera.
The workaround also works when pluggin in my iPhone (Import window pops up automatically)

FCPX media import import window does not match finder

So I am trying to import media from Drive:PROJECT01/COT OODOODD/CONTENTSA/ as you can see what I see in finder is not what I get in FCPX media import window... ??

it seems if I close down FCPX and restart everything is fine - mmmn not very useful.
Is this a 'known issue'?
So long as I leave the camera contents folder named as 'contents' then X will unwrap the mxf files inside - which is fine - but why does the media import window not refresh when I edit names and content in finder without having to restart FCPX?

Not able to open printing preferences in the print window

Hello-
When I click print to print a document and the print window comes up, I click on properties and nothing happens. The correct printer (HP Photosmart Plus B209a) is listed, but the button does not respond. I am able to open the print properties through the HP solution centre and have set-up a couple of custom short cuts, but since I can't open the properties button on the print screen, it defaults to the everyday printing selection, which for this document is not what I want.
Any suggestions?

The properties window does not open properly for bookmarks.

When I go to Bookmarks > Bookmark This Page, the window that opens should have the information filled in, correct? Because mine is always blank. The bookmark does get made if I click Done, even with everything looking blank. Also, when I right-click on a bookmark & select Properties, the Properties window that opens only shows the blue bar at the top, nothing else. I can't expand the window. It's been doing this since the previous version that I had. Also, keep in mind that I'm a computer technician, so I know what I'm doing.

does it happen for all tables or it's related to specific set of tables (or just one table)?
PS. Did some more research: The error message from the logfile seems to be unrelated to the recalcitrant properties window. Yes, those errors are not related to problem.
properties dialog won't appear if there are some errors during initialization of dialog and its related to table that cause the problem. You should be able to open dialog for another table.
It'll be great if you can find out after what changes dialog for some tables doesn't appear.

The downloads window does not open

I am running Beta 4.0b7 and whilst I am able to download files I cannot see the downloads window.
I have tried selecting the window via tools and downloads but it does not appear. However, after doing this it is listed in the 'window' menu, although it still does not appear if I click.
I have already followed Mozilla's troubleshooting on this issue but to no avail. It does not show up in Safe Mode either
Any help appreciated.
