As long as your MacBook Pro is in the ML compatible list, http://www.apple.com/osx/specs it is compatible with Mavericks and you can go directly to Mavericks.

If you are talking about setting up your iCloud Account for the Mac features, then that is imcompatible. That was the main feature of Lion 10.7 and iOS 5. You will need to upgrade your OS in order to receive iCloud features for the Mac. All MacBook Pros except for "Core Duo" models can run at least Lion. To verify this, click "About This Mac" from the Apple menu in the top left. If it says "Core 2 Duo", "Core i3/i5/i7" it can run Lion. Even better, if your MBP is newer than late 2007 and you have AT LEAST 2GB of RAM you can run Mountain Lion. A 20$ upgrade. However if you can only run Lion you will need to call Apple as I do not believe Lion is sold on the App Store anymore.

Your macbook pro has a 32 bit processor and not a 64 bit processor?
If so, i believe photoshop cs5 is the newest photoshop version that will work on your Macbook Pro.

Also, photoshop cs through cs4 should work as well, but cs3, cs4 and cs5 will run better since cs and cs2 require Rosetta and can be kinda slow at times. -

1. It depends on what Mac model you have. If it's incapable of running Yosemite, installing an intermediate version won't help with that.
2. You'll lose the ability to run PowerPC software, and some other programs may also be incompatible. If something goes wrong, you might lose data; back your computer up first. There aren't any issues specifically associated with skipping versions.

As has been mentioned, the software in Mac OS X that supported the running of PPC applications rather than current Intel applications on Intel computers such as your MBP was last seen in Snow Leopard. However, since I believe your MBP originally came with Snow Leopard, you may be able to boot from the DVD's that came with the computer and install it on an external HD and try to install Quark on that.
I think a better solution would be to buy Snow Leopard Server from Apple by phone (800-692-7753 and be specific about wanting part # MC588Z/A), installing it as a virtual machine in software like VMware Fusion, and then installing Quark 6 in that. You'll still need a license number to authorize the Quark installation. -

While having a perfectly running iTunes and all programs associated, I was notified of the iTunes 10.4 upgrade. After following typical directions, I have had nothing but trouble. First “iTunesHelper was not installed correctly. Please reinstall iTunes. Error 7 (Windows error 5)” occurred. I actually managed to resolve this on my own by downloading iTunes from the Apple website and reinstalling iTunes that way. Here's the link: http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/ That should fix your problem. Good luck!

Download was complete and I accepted everything and restarted computer but its still running 10.7.5

Step 1. Try to get the file you want on screen. I expect you to see the message "If this message is not eventually replaced by the proper contents of the document"
Step 2. Understand you are looking at a page of a file, even though it looks like an error message. It is in a window, right?
Step 3. Move your mouse towards the bottom of the window. Stop moving the mouse. A little bar should appear with four buttons.
Step 4. Click the fourth button.
Step 5. Open FINDER.
Step 6. Open Downloads from your left bar.
Step 7. Find the file you just downloaded.
Step 8. Double click on that file to open it.
Please do not skip anything, just because you don't understand it. Instead, let us know.
If these instructions let you down, please let us know (a) on which step, and (b) what actually happens instead of what I said. -
